When John suggested that it was a kiss... just from that moment of incredible embarrassment, Adrian turned beet red. He turned away and stepped up his pace a bit, keeping his face turned away from John. He could feel his cheeks burning. He started speaking to cover his embarrassment... with only a slight stutter at the beginning. "Ye- Yeah... I mean no! Not that you're not special, just that you probably can't see them. I mean I don't know... you might. I mean, some elementals can probably gift mortals with the ability to see them, I'm not sure what they are, or how to contact them, but I am sure it's possible. I mean I don't know how. And really don't think that seeing them is anything special... I don't actually do it voluntarily."
He paused for a moment, trying to say what he meant to and not whatever just came to his mind. "I mean, I like it... but it doesn't really mean I did anything to deserve anything special, not that it's special, as I said before... but I just mean there is nothing wrong with you... I mean I could say the same thing about me not being impossible to kill." He continued to walk as he did, feeling the color in his cheeks fade away... though it didn't quite disappear.

John felt his smile widen even more as Adrian's pace quickened and he turned his face. Even though his head was turned he could still see the red color on his face. Slowly his smile started to fade a bit though, as Adrian spoke of not being special for being able to see the elementals. John did not think he was special at all, even with his ability. That wasn't really special, that was more... of a curse. Adrian's gift though? That was special.
"Why don't you think its special? Sure, you didn't do anything to ... see them voluntarily.. but the elemental creatures.. apologize to them for me if that isn't the right term.. but they must have chosen you to see them. That's special in its own right. You may not want to see them voluntarily but... they want you to see them. Something like that." He quickened his pace a bit, deciding to side step the ... impossible to be killed conversation. He patted Adrian's shoulder.
"Feeling a bit better now? You seem more calm now." He had slowly come to a stop near the entrance of the school, the pathway to the entrance having trees and benches and the like. John was a bit... well, upset that this night may be over before he got to talk to Adrian more. He was very interested in the sylphs that Adrian could see, and not just that, he was interested in Adrian. Adrian must have something about him that.. made the slyphs want them to see him. He had to have something special about him... whether it be his magical ability, his humor, or just his personality in general.

Adrian chose to address Johns first comment... not quite willing to answer the second. ”It’s not that I don’t think it’s cool, it is and occasionally I enjoy being unique in my ability to see them. But from what limited information I have managed to get out of them over the years, it isn’t something that I did, or even something truly unique to me. My grandmother had it and her grandmother before her... it’s supposed to be a female thing... but since this generation lacked a single female -despite my parent’s constant efforts- it was left to me, when something decided that I would be the last and that I would inherit the ability to see the elementals.” He shook his head to clear his thoughts and refocus. ”What I meant was... I don’t think someone should be judged by their ancestors, or by anything they can’t control. So I suppose you aren’t that special either.” He turned back to John, assured that his face had returned to its natural hue.
He grinned at John, feeling more comfortable now that he thought of it. unthinking he reached into his pocket and fingered a knife, pressing the tip into his thumb just deep enough to prick, if not noticeably. He was enjoying himself with John, nothing specific... it was just nice to be in his company. ”I suppose I am feeling better... thanks. Though I still say I should have paid.” He wasn’t really complaining, just a minor point of contention. He brought his thumb to his mouth subconciously ensuring that any blood wouldn’t be visible. Brushing his thumb across his mouth, his tongue just barely touching it, he tasted the blood. The tiny droplet was barely enough to taste, but the thought was enough to make him content. ”So... what now? He hadn’t even considered the night ending before they did more than grab coffee. He enjoyed good conversation, even more so... good conversation with John.

"I completely agree... No one should be judged by their ancestors or by something they cannot control. Though I'm not quite sure what.. you mean by the second part but I agree. No, I'm not that special. So... with that said, neither of us are special. And no, you should not have paid."
Laughing a bit, John looked towards the school. He wasn't quite sure himself what to do next, which was odd for him. He usually always had at least something planned out. But at the moment... he didn't. He slowly shrugged, looking back to Adrian, having missed him bringing his thumb to his mouth. "To be honest, I'm not sure. I usually have something up my sleeve but.. not today. Not sure why... "
Quickly taking his hands from his pockets and holding them in front of him, John tried to defend what he just said. He did not mean it to be rude, and was hoping it wasn't taken as rude. "Not that... that's a bad thing.. I mean... it's not! It's just... oh bloody hell.. " He sighed, scratching behind his head and having a slight smirk upon his face. It was a ... "Well I screwed up" kind of smirk, looking off into the distance.

Rolling his eyes and Johns repetition of his willingness to pay... or at least his insistence that Adrian didn’t. But when John appoligised for something that Adrian didn’t quite grasp, he returned Johns “Well I screwed up” smirk, with a “wthayta” look, as in what the hell are you talking about. He was entirely happy to be spontaneous... and if that was what John was apologising for, it was completly pointless. Then again he might be apologising for something else entirely... which was unclear to Adrian, the power of perception was not his strongest trait.
”Quite aside from the fact that I am one of the most disorganized people in the world, and actually planning an evening out would take months of sporadic preparation. Quite aside from the fact that you just said bloody hell, which amuses me to no end.” He grinned for a moment before his expression became a little more serious, going on in an almost bashful tone “I’m enjoying it anyway” By the time he had finished his sentence he was once more embarrassed, mostly because of the embarrassing unspoken words that were running through his head ’because I’m hanging out with you’. Not only did it imply much more than he intended, but it was cheesy.
Adrian reached into another pocket to finger a metal disc that had been his grandmothers. He was pretty sure it was a picture holder... or something of the sort, but he couldn’t actually open the damned clasp. Either way it was one of his many comfort items that were secreted away in the pockets of his jacket. With his fingers stroking the warm metal, he got his embarrassment under control.

John had laughed a bit, feeling a bit better that Adrian didn't catch on to what he meant. At least he wasn't being rude then! He had paused though when Adrian spoke about bloody hell. How did... Oh that's right. Not many people used such language. He caught it when he was traveling in England. He got stuck in Cardiff for a while, and picked up some of the accent and the ... words. He shook his head, placing his hands on his hips and his coat flipping a bit behind him as he did.
"Glad that amuses you. I caught that when I was in Cardiff for a while. So tell me, you ever think there are other things out there? Other beings? I mean, you have the sylphs but.. do you think there are more?"
He was interested to see what Adrian thought. If he could see the sylphs, he should at least.. somewhat believe in other beings out in the universe right? He had seen one or two over the years... and even thought he was one himself. The stories that he was told as a child by his Uncle David... those stories had to be of other worlds, other beings...

Adrian cocked his head slightly ”Other beings? And by other beings, I assume you are speaking of something outside my domain, not just more elementals, although sylphs aren’t the only ones I deal with, there are gnomes, or undines.” He brought his hand to his chest, feeling a container for a few drops of water as he thought of the undines. ”But other creatures? Sure I guess. I would have no idea what they were, but I suppose there could be. I suppose anything is possible, in my short sojourn here at T’zen I have learned that much... even if I haven’t made any breakthroughs in biology.” He was of course referring to the reason he had met John, looking for the teacher of said subject, but instead finding the unconscious immortal. The double entendre never occurred to him... although both applied.
Looking up to John his eyes posed questions, and since he was a very straight forward person, he stated the first one that came to mind. ”What brings it up? I mean obviously me going on about my ability. But I am assuming there is something aside from my ranting that brings it up.” He was curious now, and as an incredibly juvenile person, he would pursue that curiosity... at least until he got distracted.

John shook his head, kind of side stepping the question by going into more detail about other beings in the universe. Aliens, per say, as some might call them. He did not like talking about his childhood. He preferred to keep it secret, if he could, and at all costs. Besides his past wasn't important...
"Nothing in particular. Maybe this starry night made me think about it... or the thought of your abilities and the sylphs and such. I've been told so many stories... and yet have seen so little. Though I have seen one or two of the creatures I've heard in stories. All harmless, of course. Well, mostly harmless. Talking nurse cats, little creatures made of fat.. That sort of thing."

“Monsters made of fat? What types of fairy tales were you told as a child? I mean I heard stories about small children being eaten by witches, the bogey man, or the grim reaper, minotaur’s or chimeras, ghosts and fairies. I think I read a story about a cat being a child’s nurse... but I’m not sure what you mean by that sort of thing.” He looked at John appraisingly, and for a moment he was silent. Debating whether he actually believed that things outside elementals existed.
The answer was simple”I suppose anything is possible, from fat monsters to cat nurses. I suppose really anything is possible, so I suppose that yes I do believe in other things. Anything you can dream up... well I suppose that I might show disbelief until I saw it with my own eyes, but I believe there is a potential for just about anything.” He grinned and started to move forward, not in any particular direction, but just to be moving. He assumed John would follow.

John did follow, laughing a bit at Adrian's response. Anything was possible. Those witches being eaten by children? Most likely true. As well as the bogey man, the grim reaper... all of it could be true, and probably was. There is a reason people make up these fairy tales... to warn children of what has happened before. To tell stories to scare the children into believing their real and take caution. Though adults seem to forget these things as they grow older...
"Heh, my Uncle was... a bit spacey, you could say. I loved his stories... Those creatures... Adipose they were called. The story my Uncle told me involved... them being made from humans on Earth. The people of earth would... take a pill and... the adipose would then... gather the fat and be born. In emergencies they could convert.. everything ... Bones, hair, things like that... But it made the little creatures sick."
John let that sit for a moment, before grinning a bit and closing his eyes. He was wondering what Adrian might think of that story... he could tell others that his Uncle told him but... perhaps he would ... make it almost like a story telling with his Uncle. He would make Adrian wait until the next time they met to tell him another story. Maybe. "Those stories you were told as a child about the bogey man and such... You know there's a reason why fairy tales are told. To warn children and scare them about what has happened in the past. So those stories may very well be true."

Adrian shrugged as John went on, ” I suppose anything’s possible. I mean, I heard once that all myths are based in truth, and it makes sense... it just means that that truth is a lot less diluted that society is implied... though really, stories of the boegy man are just cruel, my brother couldn’t sleep on his own until he was 7... and never in the same room as me,” He grinned at John. ” Since occasionally a gnome might creak the floor boards... or a sylph would smack open the windows.” He wiped an imaginary tear of mirth out of his eye as he thought of his older brother and his fear of the dark. ”Ahhh, the memories.” when he thought about it... he might have been scared of the dark if it wasn’t for those sylphs and gnomes, the creatures that would chase out the bad things.
Returning to John and the topic of conversation, he made a wonderful revelation. ”Either way your uncle is weird. But it sounds like you guys ar- were close.” He made an alteration at the last minute, remembering the past tense terms John had been using to refer to his uncle. This time when he smiled, it was filled with not quite pity. He was really a stranger to death, not really knowing anyone who had died.

John was not a stranger to death. Certainly not. He would not say that though, and he would try and avoid the subject if at all possible. It was just something he did not want to talk about. He smiled as Adrian spoke of his brother being scared of the dark, keeping his hands in his pockets. He could not help but think of a story his Uncle told him once more as the fear of dark reminded him of a certain story. Ah... how he missed such stories.
"Yeah, we were. But then one day he just up and disappeared. He came in to me and my brother and slowly said... 'I'm sorry... I'm so sorry...' and then left. I miss him, but .. what can I do? So. What about you? Are you close to anyone?" There, that might get them off the subject. He wasn't sure why that slipped from his mouth so easily. Usually he was very good at keeping his uncle and brother out of the conversation. It might have also been obvious to Adrian that when John mentioned his brother he paused ever so slightly, a bit amazed at himself that he mentioned his brother Gray.

”Close to me? Well, I have family... but that’s well, family. You know, bullies for older brothers, the occasional kindness.” He grinned, he had a large family, and all of his siblings were boys. ”I was never really all that close with any of them, not them, or my parents. I was a bit of an odd sheep compared to the rest of my family. My brothers and father were oxes and my mother was the perfect Christian housewife.” He shook his head, ”To say the least, I never really fit in with my family. They were great, don’t get me wrong! They’re family, and I love them, but.... sometimes, we just don’t see eye to eye.”
Adrian turned to John, ”I mean this for instance,” He gestured to the two of them, ”I mean this would be paramount to sacrilege, actually I think it is sacrilege... Disregard that” It occurred to him once more that he wasn’t sure what exactly this was. But the embarrassment of the moment had him blushing.

John had let out a slight laugh, nudging Adrian's shoulder as he talked about his family. It was much different than John's family. Where he was brought up, it did not matterw who or even what you loved. You were always a part of the family and were always welcomed. Come to think of it... Adrian would have been welcomed to his family if... his.. family was still alive."Different than my family. We all got along, my brother and I were always together. In fact, my mother would have welcomed you into the family with open arms."
He paused though, as Adrian spoke about the sacrilege and exactly what the two of them were. He had never thought of it that way. A light blush came to his cheeks, quickly rubbing his nose and turning ever so slightly so he wasn't facing Adrain, so he could try to hide his blush. "Well what do you think this is...? It could be anything and everything... A friendship perhaps? Or maybe more... It might not be safe to get too close to me. Those who end up close usually end up..hurt."
Turning his whole body away from Adrian now, his voice got quiet and somewhat... serious. No more joking, no more playing around... if this was more than just a friendship... he did not want Adrian to get hurt. Adrian was an okay kid, and ... he was actually... he was more than that. He was a great kid, and ... he didn't deserve to be put through hell like he did. Who was to say that anything dangerous would happen to him again, though? He couldn't be sure... "I can't be sure but... I don't want ... anything bad to happen to you. My family ... " He slowly turned to face Adrian, his eyes somewhat cold and staring into Adrian's. "My family was murdered. I don't know why, but they were murdered. That was the first time I realized that I couldn't die because I was killed that day too. If .. whatever tried to kill my family is still out there, I don't want... that to happen to you. "

Numerous protests came to his lips the moment John suggested what Adrian himself had stated. But his protests died before they left his mouth. John was saying some rather depressing things, most of which were concerned with his safety... ”You’re worried about the kid who burned down his house when he was five and was thought to be a demon by age 6.” He tried for levity, smiling with self depreciation. ”My safety isn’t what you have to worry about... I have the best body guards in the world!” He gestured to the air around them, referring to the sylphs... that at the moment had deserted him.
He ignored the fact that he was oh so incredibly fragile when compared to John. But this was more for John’s comfort than for his own... in truth he had the utmost confidence that no such thing would happen... He believed that whatever had killed John once... wasn’t about to return for him... after all, he was supposed to be dead. ”besides... if I avoided people because of the danger they might put me in... I would be even more of a social recluse than I am now... half the people in this school could kill you...” He stopped for a moment then rolled his eyes “Okay, they could kill me with an uncontrolled angry thought.”
