It was a nice Thursday evening. The sun was setting, the lights in the town were starting to shine and hide the stars in the sky above. John was sitting at a table outside the cafe, already having a cup of coffee on the table. He was wearing a pair of dark gray pants with a button down light blue shirt and suspenders on. It was a bit of an aged look, but he didn't mind. Sometimes, aged looks fit him.
He had his legs crossed, leaning back in the chair and holding his cup of coffee as he watched strangers walk by. Some were holding hands, some individuals were laughing and walking with friends, others were walking by themselves. He laughed slightly, taking a sip of his coffee. He had left a note on the door of the science lab which entailed the meeting place and the time. At the end of the note, he of course left his signature and a little note about not messing up his hair again.

Adrian took his time in heading to the café, the note on the door had made him laugh... but still he hadn`t exactly expected to be leaving the campus. He was still in his uniform, and felt incredibly awkward walking through the public areas... despite the fact that he saw a few other students dressed similarly. So he took his time, keeping his eyes to the ground as he headed for the designated meeting place. In truth, all of what he was feeling wasn’t just embarrassment for his uniform. A lot of it was nervous tension... for obvious reasons. John was waiting for him at a café... and it was implied that this was more than just casual.
He spotted the café... and John sitting outside it. Subconsciously his right hand drifted over to his opposite arm, rubbing the scars he couldn’t feel through his shirt. But, then... simply for appearances sake, he tried to shed off some of his tension smiling as dropped his arm. He walked up to the table, standing behind the chair opposite John. ”You do realise exactly how much you have inconvenienced me I hope. I really considered just ignoring your little note all together, dragging me off campus so you can get your caffeine fix.” He shook his head, in mock seriousness. ”It really is sad.”

John raised his eyebrows slightly, setting his coffee back down on the table and crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned back in his chair. "Sad? I thought this would be a nice place to meet, and not to mention coffee is good every now and then. I admit I might have just dragged you here for my own little.. fix."
At the mention of a fix, John had picked up his coffee and took another sip, winking to Adrian before placing the cup back down and motioning to the seat opposite him. "Please, have a seat. I'm sorry this inconvenienced you, but how about I make it up by buying you anything you want. Something to drink, or eat?" That would hopefully make up for.. inconveniencing Adrian, right? Then again, Adrian was the one who messed up his hair last night... so he deserved a little inconvenience as a tease.

Adrian took his seat, shaking his head in answer to Johns suggestion ”that’s ok, I can pay for myself. Despite my exile to T’zen, my parents still send me an allowance. So I, probably unlike you, don’t have to work for my money... it has essentially less value.” Well, that and he really didn’t like other people paying for him, the concept disagreed with him.
He bit his lip and gave a lopsided smile... ”Besides, I prefer the expensive sugary drinks that don’t actually resemble coffee. I actually don’t like coffee, so it all makes sense if you think about it.” Adrian looked away, searching for a waiter or something. ”Do you order at a counter or something? Or does a waiter come by here?” He bit his lip and shrugged. ”I don’t get out much”

Touche. He did have to work for his money, at times. Others he would try to flirt his way out of it. As Adrian spoke and bit his lip, John only smiled, taking another drink from his coffee. It did not really make sense to him about the sugary drink, but.. he would not push the logic for now. It was just interesting seeing Adrian seem to... fit in with the rest of the crowd around him, so to speak. "You go up to a counter or a waiter will come to you. You sure you don't want me to pay for you? I don't mind it."
He set his drink down, looking over his shoulder and inside at the counter in the cafe. He motioned over towards his table, the waiter inside nodding and grabbing his tab book before walking out to the two. John had his coffee in a to go cup, not sure if the two would really be staying at the cafe or not. Seeing Adrian's somewhat... nervous look and his biting of his lip, he had guessed they wouldn't stay long. Adrian didn't seem comfortable here. "There you go. If you want, you can order it to go and we can go someplace else."

Adrian shook his head once more, trying to rid himself of his nerves alas much as refusing Johns suggestion. Turning to the waiter, he stated his order in a cheery if slightly unspecific manner. ”Sorry I’m not exactly sure what’s on the... you know, menu... but anything in a large cup with so much sugar and flavouring the coffee is lost in the taste... I would be happy.” He shrugged with the smile, caffine was nice, but sugar was just as good... and the mild coffee taste wasn’t all that bad. He turned his attention back to John, still keeping an eye on the waiter. ”I don’t go out for coffee all that often.” He knew he was repeating himself... but he gave a mental shrug and continued.
“So... what did prompt this change in venues?” He asked with a smirk, ”Detention too dull for you?” He raised an eyebrow, ”Or was it the possibility of going to hell and coming back that gave you the problem?” He referred to the apparent pain that John felt when he was killed and revived. Honestly... if he had so much experience with death... he was either truly careless, or incredibly unlucky.

John let out a soft laugh as Adrians poke about his coffee to the waiter, being full of completely sugar. I guess you could still stay awake with that, and get a bit of caffeine... if not a sugar rush from a drink like that. If Adrian was happy drinking that then... what was John to say? He sure as hell wasn't going to chase Adrian around if his sugar rush and nerves got to him though.
"I just thought a change of venue would be nice... not to mention a change of scenery. It gets a bit dull at the school... and I haven't had my dose of coffee this week yet. " He avoided the second part, about his going to hell and back. It was a mix of... both carelessness and incredibly bad luck. Though when he did ... "die"... he never did go anywhere. It was just ... pure blackness and then suddenly being racked over broken glass.

Adrian rolled his eyes, ”Coffee makes you it’s slave... well I suppose not really if you only drink it once a week. Actually you would probably have to have several cups a day to beat out the average Canadian... that’s where I’m from, Canada. And while I don’t actually like real coffee, most of the people I know thought of it as their ambrosia. My oldest brother Fred –well Fredrick but since my mothers taste in anmes is terrible we call him Fred- Is a caffeine addict, he’s one of those office type people -although he is built like an ox and looks ridiculous in his cubicle- when he lived at home –he lives in Toronto there, I visited him once ~normally he comes home, but there was the one time we went out to see his new place~ He took me to see the CN tower ~Which actually isn’t all that special~ and the only thing I really remember is the glass floor- where was I... oh yeah, when he used to live at home he would drink like 5 great big mugs of coffee before going to work...” He stopped talking feeling a little rude, a little stupid, and a little obnoxious. He had gone on for longer than he meant to. He couldn't tell whether it was because he was nervous or not... but he felt embarrassed about it all the same.
”Well, I just lost my train of though... and I’m sorry about talking so much... I’d say it’s not normal... but it is. I just tend to go on a bit. So if I’m ever talking too much, just tell me to shut up or something and I will.” He rubbed the back of his head a little sheepishly. Sometimes he went on to cover the silence, other times out of boredom... often because he felt awkward. Despite all those wonderful reasons... the majority of the time it was simply because he could.

As Adrian went on about his family and where he lived, John couldn't help but start to think of Gray and his family. Closing his eyes halfway, he continued to listen, but was... somewhat thinking about his own past as well. When Adrian was finished talking, John stood up rather quickly, taking the last chug of his coffee and placing the cup back on the table. "Let's get out of here. Get you to a place where you feel less... well, uncomfortable."
As soon as he stood up, the waiter had come back with Adrian's drink of sugar, having it in a to go cup as well. John winked at the waiter who only rolled his eyes and walked back to the counter. John laughed, placing his hands in his pockets. "So just tell you to shut up, huh? I can do that. But first, really, let's get you out of here. "

Adrian shrugged a little at John’s suggestion, and proceeded to unconvincingly deny his discomfort. “I’m fine, I really have no problems here. For the past while... when I lived at home, it was sort of cloistered.” For once he didn’t elaborate; it was a bit of a sore spot for him. He loved his parents, he did... it was just their beliefs he disagreed with. He smiled distantly at the waiter as the man wandered off, he had forgotten to say thanks. Thoughts of his parents distracted him in a way his brothers didn’t.
He stood up, suddenly willing to go somewhere else with John. ”I suppose we could do something else, whatever you want. I am a blank slate so I really wouldn’t be able to offer an opinion, but whatever you want to do is fine. I mean, Ive only ever gone out for coffee on occasion, I mean, I really don’t drink all that much caffeine unless it comes in the form of soda, and even then I never had much in the first place -” His speech lagged for a moment as he didn’t finish his sentence, mom and dad didn’t approve of things like caffeine... or sugar. The pause didn’t last long as he routed through his numerous pockets to find his wallet. ”It shouldn’t cost more than five bucks right? I mean, it’s really only hot water, coffee beans, sugar, flavouring syrup... probably some sort of salt or preservatives... and then theres the cost of labor, and the profit the shop takes, so actually, it might be more than five. I really wouldn’t know, I suppose I’ll have to ask the waiter. I mean normally don’t you get a bill? It’s just on TV whenever someone goes out for coffee they just leave the money on the counter, it that how it works in reality?” He looked around for a waiter as he finally pulled out a crumpled up bill... on closer inspection it was a five, he continued to search his pockets though... just in case the coffee was more expensive than he thought.

Taking his jacket from behind his chair, he slipped it onto his shoulders, fixing it a bit as he listened to Adrian. After a moment, he placed both hands onto his hips, sighing and putting his hands on his hips. "Adrian, shut up. Don't worry about the tab, let's just get out of here. It's covered."
He opened his eyes to look at Adrian, a warm smile on his face. He held his hand out in front of him, motioning for Taylor to lead the way. As soon as the two had begun walking, he placed both his hands in his pockets, his jacket swaying a bit behind him. He liked old period style dress, so he had a jacket that was ... well, a period style jacket from the 1930's. It was his favorite jacket, and it was a dark blue in color. It went down to about the back of his knees and flowed freely behind him. Once the two were far enough from the coffee shop, and on their way back to the school grounds, John decided to break the silence. It was a bit quiet on the walk..
"Beautiful night, isn't it?"

For a moment Adrian was offended when John told him to shut up... then he conceded that he had after all given John that option. But... he really hadn’t been talking that much, or at least he didn’t think so. He shook his head, a little embarrassed and did as he was told. Muttering protests at his expense being covered, getting things paid for by anyone other than his parents was weird. Still he followed Johns gesture and proceeded to move forward.
As they walked the silence weighed on Adrian, he didn’t like silence... not for any real reason other than he thought it needed to be filled. But John had told him to shut up and Adrian was going to do as he was told. If John had said it in true anger or even rudely at all, Adrian probably would have ran his mouth off and insulted John telling him to be quiet... he probably should have told John to tell him to be quiet. Simply the phrase shut up was a little too aggravating.
Adrian was lost in his own thoughts, watching John out of the corner of his eye as he continued his inner monologue. So when John spoke up despite the fact that it was a relief it also startled Adrian. ”Yeah... I geuss it is.” He hadn’t really been paying attention to anything other than himself... well John, but that was a give-in. He wasn’t sure whether this was an invitation to talk or not. Self conscious of himself, he wasn’t sure whether John telling him to shut up was just meant for that point in time or whether it was because he really thought Adrian talked too much. So he just smiled a bit at John and left it at that.

John watched Adrian for a moment, a smile slipping onto his face as he saw Adrian smile. Seeing him smile only made John feel ... more happy. He was wondering why the walk back to school was so quiet, but he wasn't... really going to question it out loud. That would have been strange, wouldn't it? "Sorry about that earlier but.. you.. did say I could tell you to shut up. Not that I wanted you to stay quiet for ever.. you were.. just rattling at the moment."
He shrugged his shoulders a bit, closing his eyes. He was trying to think of a topic, but for the moment he... was at a lose. Why was that? He was usually the one to come up with conversation, to chat, but now he was having trouble finding a topic. "So uh... What sort of things have you seen in your life? Obviously some supernatural stuff as... you somehow messed up my hair and pulled my clothes in all directions the other night."

Adrian shrugged when John apologised, trying not to show his relief. Despite the fact that he tried to appear as though nothing could upset his cheery demeanour he was always fairly self conscious, and thinking that John had problems with his constant speech had been a little disheartening. So the smile that widened ever so slightly was in his mind, justified.
When John mentioned what Adrian did to his hair yesterday, Adrian grinned, laughing a little. ”Whatever are you talking about?.” He asked feigning innocence. ”li’ll old me do such a thing?” Adrian batted his eyelashes impersonating a southern belle. He looked away for a moment, biting his lip as he tried to sense out an air elemental. They were vain and jealous creatures, and definitely part of the reason Adrian was a bit of a hermit, so when he looked around... there were none close. They tended to ignore him when he was spending much time with anyone else.
Whistling three short notes he called to them with his power, unfortunately and somewhat expectedly, there was no response. ”Um... on a more serious note, I can communicate with my imaginary friends.” he made a bit of a joke out of it. ”well, not really, but I can see these creatures... and well, when I was little I had them as friends so naturally when I spoke to them my parents thought they were my imaginary friends. Though that led to confusion as I got older and my imaginary friends didn’t go away... and tended to affect the world around me.” He paused and once more bit his lip as he thought. ”They embody the elements, Air, Water, and Earth.” He ticked each off on a finger as he counted them. ”I can see Fire too... but it reacts violently in my presence, the salamanders have something against me... I’m not really sure why, but to be quite frank, fire scares the hell out of me.” He gave a small shudder, ”I could probably figure out why... but that would require talking to a greater elemental... or a dragon. his breath quickened at the thought. ”I saw one once, sleeping in a dormant volcano when my family was on vacation. The fire dragon started to wake up... we had to be evacuated.” He stopped and looked at John... ”Keep in mind that in truth it’s not a dragon as you would think it... from what I’ve learned, I believe that that is just the form that my mind gave it... I mean my power is entirely subjective... and well not all that reliable....” he trailed off as his thoughts caught up with his mouth.
”And you really didn’t ask for my life story... just what messed up your clothes... it was a sylph... an air elemental. Normally it would be difficult to get them to obey me unless it's really important... but she was willing to mess with you... mostly because she was jealous... he blushed deeply... ”From the CPR... she thought it was... something more. Like a kiss... Sylphs don’t understand human biology... but intimacy is another matter... SO when uh, my lips touched yours... I mean...” He was getting flustered, finding it difficult to put more than one word in front of another. If John hadn’t been attractive, it wouldn’t be this bad, but... since Adrian wouldn’t have been opposed to kissing John... it just made matters all the more embarrassing.

John was smiling throughout the story, nodding every so often. He was very interested in the story, but he laughed when he found Tyler going off on a certain tangent every now and then. It was interesting to find how he found his ability. It sort of made John's mind start to reel as to why fire did not react well to Adrian. Was it because he was afraid of fire, or because fire was such a strong elemental? Perhaps it was a mix of him being afraid and not being powerful enough to yet control fire? Either way, when Adrian spoke about their lips touching it brought a certain scene back to his mind. He let out a laugh, closing his eyes.
"Whose to say it wasn't a kiss? I mean, I wasn't dead..." Letting that hang for a moment, he laughed once more shaking his head. "Alright, alright it was CPR. That was a great story though, it got my mind reeling a bit about those creatures. I think I have heard of them before in my own research, but.. I never got to see one. Though I guess I'm not as special as you to be able to see one, huh?"
