Hmmm... first analysis of the school grounds: island is like its own little world here, an escape from the outside. Very little inquiry into past or hobbies besides the students making small talk or creating friendships. There did seem to be a stench across everyone of something wrong in their past or family or some situation for as to why they were shipped to this place... then again, he was in the same boat, so no complaints here.
At the moment, however, the male was attempting to get to the bottom of his own search: who the mysterious person was that had taken the faculty position to instruct the young... humanoids in the paticulars of science, a job that, due to said person, was denied to him. He had his own ways of getting what he wanted, but some of them involved paying people off to clean up and don't ask questions... and he only had so much money, what with all of the houses that had been burned down under his care. Still, maybe there could be a diplomatic solution... or he wouldn't even need to resort to anything, should this faceless adversary be sufficient in knowledge.
Nevertheless, he stopped by the science room, turning the knob and going in, looking around as he did so. It seemed like what one would expect for a middle school/high school equivalent to a classroom for science... which made it boring. Still, it wasn't his room, so of course there would be no sophiscated scanners or lasers... hmmm... maybe he could add some to the math room. They would be an inspiration not to cheat.

Classes had ended for the day and the science teacher of the T'zenshin Institute, Kayami Rikae, had stayed behind for a little while to do a quick (quick in her books) clean up of the classroom before she returned back to her apartment for the night.
Today she had chosen to wear a pair of denim shorts that came half way down her thigh and clung to her legs, with this she wore a light grey tank top that was all loose around the collar, similar to a V neck, and a three quarter sleeve black cargidan just for show. It wasn't to keep warm, Kayami never got cold. She was from Hokkaido.
While she wiped the desks down with her personal antibacterial wipes, she didn't notice the visitor enter the room until the green and yellow frog that sat on her shoulder croaked, proceeding to leap off in direction of the person. Kayami's brown eyes glanced up, her platinum blonde dyed hair falling over her shoulders as she lifted her head.
"Aaah.. um, can I help you?" She asked, curiously yet she was confused, she knew he was a teacher due to slight differences from twelfth years yet she hadn't met him before.

The obvious thing that assailled the male, after the blandness of the room, was the smell of disinfectant. Either there had just been some sort of dissection that had occurred (fun, though not entirely his forte), or the teacher liked to keep things sterile. From the amount of the smell, very, very, very sterile. It was amazing that something could survive in here... though he did have to hand it to the person for keeping a clean lab. He wasn't as picky in his own area, but that was mainly because he did have a controlled area, and the main thing he had to keep out was static from ruining the electronics.
However, he was surprised to see a woman there, older than the eldest students, which meant that she had to be the teacher. The man paused, obviously looking her over. Long blonde hair. Tank top with some sort of feminine jacket. Denim shorts. Hardly the look of a professional; the only things to her advantage at the moment were the disinfectant and the frog that had been on her shoulder.
He gave a disarming smile, his hands clearly in his pockets. "Pardon the intrusion, I was merely scoping the entire facility," he said, a lilting accent accompanying the words. He did take a few steps in to be out of the doorway, though he didn't touch anything. "I was just curious as to whether or not the science teacher is in. I was recently hired, so I thought getting acquainted with the other faculty members would be..." He paused for a second, as if searching for the right word, intently staring into space before coming up with his answer. "Mutually beneficial."

Seeing the visitor walk in further to the room, the frog croaked again and leaped onto the floor, making it's way to Kayami's desk to sit. Kayami glanced at her company, getting a clearer look than before, he was definitely a teacher and had a very... different air about him. She would have had a better word but she couldn't put her finger on what that word was...
She shrugged it off and listened to him speak, hearing the accent riding on his every word. It certainly was not British, American or Australian. Something different.. she might ask a bit later. "I see.. Well, I'm Kayami Rikae, the science teacher.. obviously." She introduced herself calmly as she made her way over to the rubbish bin in the corner of the room to put the used anti-bacterial wipes in there to prevent clutter and more to clean up. Taking a quick glance around, she noted that all the desks were done, but she wouldn't start on the benches for experiments until after her company had left.
Who might you be?"

The man watched the lady dispose of the wipes, revealing herself to be- of course- the science teacher. Well, that was unfortunate... mainly for her. As of right now, he had a low opinion of her; she certainly didn't look to be science material. Well, no matter; either she proved herself, or he could use her as a test subject, and then fill in the position. It seemed like a win-win to him.
He smiled, pushing up his glasses for a moment, before deciding to test the woman on terms of her cleanliness; some geniuses had things such as OCD, and that, while being slightly depressing, would also raise his opinion of her... and be slightly amusing. "The name is Caleb Shaw... Doctor Shaw if you wish to call me that," he replied to her question, removing a hand from his pocket and offering it towards her. "I've come on as the math teacher, but considering that my specialty is in science, I was especially curious to see who was running that department."

Caleb Shaw.. that wasn't much of a lead onto what kind of country he was from. Oh well, she would just have to ask him.
She glanced down at his hand as he offered it out, not wanting to be rude, she ignored her mind screaming at her that it might be covered with germs. She simply took his hand, shaking it softly before withdrawing her hand back.
His comment about having a specialty in science saddened her, "Aaah... my apologies.." Although she wasn't sure why she should be sorry, she did get to the school before he did, so... But she hated disappointing people, and jumped through hoops to relieve them of that. "It's nice to meet you, though, Caleb," She continued, choosing not to call him 'Doctor Shaw' it sounded... odd. "Might I ask where you're from?"

Caleb noticed a short pause before the science teacher took his hand, giving it a weak shake before removing; hmmm, that was interesting indeed. Either she didn't like touching him, or she just wasn't fond of handshakes. While psychology wasn't his strong suit, he did have some practice in it to learn things about humans, and one thing was a dispute between being polite and comfortable; that pause seemed to suggest that. Well, that was a point for her... if he was giving points.
The man nodded, smiling again as he placed his hand back into his pocket. "Oh, think nothing of it; there are lots in life, and I just happened to draw mine after you for here," he said, being polite, not wanting to hint at the possible danger he might present later. If she knew, then she would be cautious, and if he was going to be dangerous to her later, then that would take more effort to get her, and would just be more trouble for him.
Her question was not entirely unexpected, considering that everyone here seemed to have some manner of accented English. "I spent the majority of my life in New Zealand, recently leaving to come here to teach," he admitted, fairly certain she wouldn't try to look him up based on that. "And you are from?"

His response calmed her a little, at least he wasn't too upset over it. Her shoulders relaxed, showing an obvious droop as they untensed. Feeling awkward just standing there, she turned around, walking to her desk where she held out her hands for the frog to climb up. The frog hopped onto the palms of her hands, his tongue lashing out to catch a small insect buzzing passed.
"New Zealand? Wow, no wonder I couldn't pinpoint your accent.." She rest the frog on her shoulder so she could move easier. "I'm from Hokkaido, Japan," Due to this, she never felt the cold and it was helpful to her during the winter months at the start of the year. Any reason why you decided to teach here?" It was an interesting place to begin teaching, once you read about the fact that 'gifted' varied rather widely.

Caleb was slightly amused with the level of familiarity and comraderie the woman showed the frog; that would give her a bit more in his book, considering that he had the same sort of relationship with his creations... well, most of them, at least before the angry mob blew them up. If only there was some legal system he could sue them all for; he would probably be a millionaire right now had there not been wanton trespassing, arson, and destruction of his property.
The man nodded, before waving one hand as a preface to his answer to her question. "Well, I've been wanting to get out of the country, and I'm not too sure what to do for a long term career, so I thought the best starting point would be teaching the future, and this institute wasn't too far of a move." That was his official story with everyone besides the Headmaster; he had known full well Caleb's past, and didn't mind it as long as he didn't create an army of violent robots on campus. "And what brings someone as yourself over here from Hokkaido?"

Kayami bought it, agreeing with him that getting out of their home country was an interesting and exciting move, and it wasn't a very big job to move everything over. "Um well, I came here on an OE at first but I liked teaching here so much that I asked to stay and so... yeah," She answered, it wasn't that interesting but she did enjoy the types of students she got to teach.
Right now, she was glad that her x-ray vision could be turned on and off, looking through his attire would be awkward and embarrassing. A blush rose to her cheeks at the thought.

Hmmm, an OE? That was interesting... he had heard of such things happening for students (and had been offered a few while he was one, though he turned them down so that he could graduate faster), but for a teacher? He would admit that his educator knowledge was limited, but it seemed almost like trading staff members around, which didn't seem to be a good way to do business since you would have to retrain the new one to your ways... interesting indeed.
Caleb noticed that the woman- he didn't feel like having to remember her name at the moment, considering that he wasn't going to be quizzed on it- was lightly blushing, which in turn, made him... feel awkward. What was she blushing about? He hadn't attempted any sort of seduction method (and by god, at this moment, he didn't have any plans for such a thing); did she think he was attractive? That made him... slightly uncomfortable, to be honest. Best not think too much into it.
The teacher almost leaned against a nearby desk, stopping when he remembered that they had all been wiped down, and remained standing instead. "What area of science would you say is your expertise?" he inquired, seeing what other information he could gain from her. He, of course, was an expert in all fields, but his strongest would have to be physics with biology in second place.

Kayami attempted to push the thoughts of seeing the man naked to the back of her mind, into the cobwebs and never to be thought of again, it was a ridiculous and inappropriate thought. She took a breath and sat down in the chair at her desk where the frog leaped off her shoulder to sit near her hands.
She had to think for a moment as he asked his question... "I would have to say Biology, what about you?" Biology was her favourite, she enjoyed teaching about anatomy, life forms and other things that tied in with it. Biochemistry was interesting, but so was Physics... she wasn't sure about what would be in second place. Not like it was some kind of competition or race with the sub-sections of Science.

Hm, biology... considering the sterile enviroment and her fondness with the amphibian, he should have guessed. He carefully looked at the frog, sizing it up, and deciding that there was nothing too special about it, besides its fondness for the female. No sort of genetic mutation or enhanced intelligence on it... which meant that she didn't have such technology, or the two of them were adept at hiding it, and were mocking him... oooohhh, that got to him... or maybe they didn't, and they wanted to mock him by making him think that they did...
Oh, she was good. Better than he thought.
Caleb's mental paranoia was paused by the woman speaking, a flash of thought passing his expression before the smile again. "Biology is quite interesting, but I would have to place physics slightly above it in my knowledge," he replied, feeling slightly more comfortable here. However, he was at a loss of a follow-up question; he was really more tempted to inquire with the students and the files about this woman first, learn more about her before making a decision. She was making decent conversation at the moment... though it was just small talk.

Kayami lifted a thin, olive coloured hand to gently stroke the back of the frog, causing it to croak, but in a content way- if that was recognisable. She smiled at it before turning her attention back to Caleb who had replied to her return question.
"I like Physiscs, but it isn't very... hands on, experiment wise, with the students, but I have yet to get an entire class to dissect anything," Even though it was just a simple, gooey... slimy, cow's eye, the girls wanted nothing to do with it! They needed some harden up pills in her opinion. Maybe she should just get them to grow bacteria on agar or something..

Caleb nodded, though he had to remove both hands at the first comment, crossing his arms as he thought back to his own physics study. "Well, it really depends on what part of physics you're covering; since most of it is based on real world application, finding a decent hands-on experiment lab procedure isn't too difficult. However, finding one that can keep the attention of students these days... that is more of a challenge."
The man lightly snickered at the woman's comment, shaking his head. "Well, fortunately we have the rest of the year to push the students towards doing something like that. Though... if you had a good idea on what sort of students you have, you could just lock the door and not let them leave until they dissected. Not the most compassionate way to do it, but sometimes it takes a bit of stick in order to get them to do what you want." It wasn't nice, but it was true; a person just didn't have to be afraid of using the stick.
