Four months of teaching and he had fallen into a rather monotonous, but comfortable, routine. It was the late afternoon, the last class of the day, which was Government for Mr. Parker (but better known as Christopher in our terms).
He was dressed casually, like always, in a white short sleeved shirt beneath a black over shirt that was worn unbuttoned, a pair of black pants held up with a black and silver belt, and black sneakers. His thin hair was worn back in a low ponytail and his hands were shoved in his pockets as he explained his powerpoint presentation of the day's notes.
He brought a hand up to run through his messy bangs that framed his face, reaching out to press the button on his remote that changed to the next slide. He glanced out at the class as he started to explain the next slide, and mentally frowned when he spotted a student without a notebook, slouched in his chair with a music device in his pocket. He knew there was the music player since there were ear buds placed 'inconspicuously' in the boy's ears.
As the class neared to an end and the lights were flipped back on, Christopher tore a sheet of paper from his notebook and took a pen, writing simply, "See me after class" on it. He folded the paper and moved passed a few chattering students to toss it onto the desk of Klaus Leighton.
He walked back to his desk and took a seat in his comfy computer chair, which he enjoyed lazily spinning around in. He pulled his PSP out from his pocket and flipped it on, deciding to pass the time with video games and spinning in his chair while he waited for the bell to ring.

Klaus Leighton hated Government, or any form of History class. He'd much rather be outside or working on something for another class...which, well, he kind of was. He had his MP3 player on, with one earbud in which he had his hand clamped over to hide it, with the song that he was playing in Orchestra playing. A much, much better class than this one, by far.
His eyes kept on wandering over to the clock, then back to the presentation and finally back to his notes. Not much more time of this class left...and then, he could just move on-
Klaus paused when he saw a piece of paper roll on his desk and, slowly unfolding it, groaned. Great. He was going to have to see the teacher after class..was he caught? Ah well...might as well just get it over with.
He sighed, and took the earbud out as he waited for the class to finally end so he could get this little conversation over with. Blah blah blah, don't listen to music in my class ever again, blah blah blah...whatever. Wouldn't take horribly long...hopefully.
When the bell rang, Klaus put his MP3 player and his notes back into his bag and walked over to Mr. Parker, a lazy and extremely bored expression on his face that showed just how much he didn't want to be here.
"You wanted to see me, Mr. Parker?" he said, his voice just as dull and bored as his expression.

The bell finally sounded and the man saved his game, sliding the game device back into his deep pocket. At the sound of Klaus's voice, the revolving chair came to a stop so the teacher was facing his student. He sat forward, bringing his hands to fold on the desk in a professional manner. He looked up at chocolate eyes of Klaus's.
"Does my voice really bother you so much, that you listen to music during my lectures?" He asked innocently.

"Music is a hell of a lot more interesting than learning about boring stuff I'll never use, so yes, it does," Klaus blurted out without even thinking about it. There was absolutely no point in lying about this, it wasn't like he was failing the class! He could afford to listen to music during class! "But yeah yeah, I get. Won't listen to music again. See ya later," Klaus said, hoping that would be the end of the conversation as he turned and made way to leave the room. Please oh please don't say anything else...

Christopher frowned a bit, a hurt expression touching his face at the words coming from his student. However, he cleared his throat and quickly tried to dispose of the expression as he stood from his chair, reaching a hand out and leaning over his desk to prevent the student from leaving. He nearly tumbled over his desk, but he managed to take hold of the back of Klaus's shirt.
"Wait just a minute, Kid." He said, straightening himself slowly as he tugged Klaus back over to him. Once he was able to stand straight, he loosened his grip on the student's shirt. "You should be viewing my class as an easy, relaxing sort of class. Sure, you have to take notes, but... It's not really that bad."

Goddamnit! Klaus thought to himself as the teacher stopped him, and he sighed as he turned around to look back at Mr. Parker. Relaxing? It wasn't relaxing...it was boring! The subject material was just so monotonous! Never mind that Government didn't have any hint of anything gory or gruesome like normal history did (which were the only things he really listened to in that class), so he was left with nothing to really interest him.
"It's just boring, even if it is easy. Sorry, teach, I just don't like it," he said, staying as blunt as ever.

Christopher relaxed his stance slightly, though he didn't make any move to sit back down. He gave a small shrug as he moved his hands to straighten up some papers on his desk.
"You don't like to learn it any more than I like to teach it... I will admit, as much of a history freak I am, I absolutely hate government because nothing happens. Bills get passed, people argue verbally, the end. Nothing interesting..." He rose his dark-blue eyes to meet Klaus's eyes once more. "But it's essential to know, no matter how pointless you may think it to be. You may not think it'll get you anywhere, but knowing politics and knowing the basics of governments and how they're run are a key into being a citizen of any country." He gave another shrug. "Boring yes. Pointless no."
He plopped back down in his chair. "Then again, you're probably getting bored of me talking. My voice was never very attractive enough to captivate the attention of my students. I'm surprised you've lasted four months in my class."

Klaus turned around to fully face Mr. Parker, a bit of shock making its way onto his expression. He really didn't just hear him admit that the class was boring, did he...? Well, that was new. Most of his past teachers scolded him for outright saying the class was stupid, boring, or any other negative adjective he could think of.
And another thing happened that Klaus didn't think would ever happen in a history class - he actually chuckled a bit.
"I manage to live by listening to your voice and just blocking out the actual words, Mr. Parker...that or plugging in my MP3 player like you caught me doing today," Klaus said, a bit of a smile gracing his lips as he folded his arms behind his head. Yes, he kinda sorta flirted with the teacher, but hey, it was all in good fun...and he did have a pretty nice voice, even if it did spout all sorts of boring shit. "By the way, you can't tell me I'm not doing good in this class. I am passing with high grades, so I do know the material. Hell, I'm probably one of your better students," he stated with a bit of a goofy grin. Sure, that probably came off as conceited but...hey! He was smart and he knew it!

Christopher sat forward in his chair again and he seemed surprised at the sound of the younger male's chuckle. At least he had gotten the boy to relax. He gave a small smile in return and rested his elbows on his desk, bringing his hands up to rest under his chin as he listened to the words coming from the student's mouth. He raised an eyebrow at the comment on his voice...
Was Klaus hitting on him? ...Nah, couldn't be...
At the mention of the student's grade, Christopher reached down to his grade book with one hand, the other hand moving to rest against his cheek and prop his head up (because he is lazy). He opened the book up and flipped a couple of pages.
"Let's see... Leighton... Leighton... Ah, here you are. Klaus Leighton." He was thankful that he had taken time to memorize seating charts and student faces. He examined the grade and raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't aware that an eighty-one was an excellent grade. I was brought up fearing anything lower than a ninety."
He flipped the book closed, glancing up at the brunette boy.

Klaus was, well, discouraged to hear what the grade was...because...well, his parents wouldn't be happy with that grade. Oh well...he could raise it! He could make his parents proud of him...and he would! He would!
His smile faltered a little, though he kept it in place. With a shrug of his shoulders, Klaus spoke, "Eh, I can do better," truth, "I've been busy with other classes as well as some things for Student Council," a lie, and then a truth. He wasn't as busy as say, Nicolette or Sven but he did have things to take care of...but still. He was slipping...he needed to bring his grade up again. He needed to look through his notes and read the textbook so much...
He needed to do it. For mother and father.

Christopher rose an eyebrow at the falter in Klaus's mood, but the boy continued on as if it hadn't really affected him. He glanced back down at the gradebook and opened it back to the page that Klaus's name was on. He glanced over the grades of the various quizzes and tests that had been passed out over the past four months.
"You've been slacking a little in the quizzes, though you start to make up for it in your test scores. You could easily have an A by the end of May if you raise your quiz scores." He commented before shutting the book again and sliding it in his desk. He relaxed back into his desk, moving his foot so his chair moved side to side slightly.

"Is it by any chance possible for me to get at least a 98 for the semester?" Klaus asked, hoping that it was possible. Sure, it wasn't the 100 that would make his parents a least a little happy with him but it was something close...a-and he could always work harder for the next semester. He would just have to sacrifice some of his sleep was all...or he could ask for extra help but...well, he was a little sure that Mr. Parker already didn't like him, most history teachers didn't like Klaus in the least bit.

Christopher thought for a moment, tapping his fingers on the his desk in concentration. He clicked his tongue a few times, continuing to think for a little while longer before he dropped his palm down on his desk, as if to show he was done thinking.
"Tell you what... Since you're a member of the Student Council, and you actually seemed concerned about your grade, I'll strike a deal with you. If you come to my classroom three times a week after school for study sessions, and listen to all of my lectures between now and the semester exams, then I believe we can come up with something. If you can do that, then I can guarantee that your grade before the exam will be a 95... And if you do well on the exam, you can get anywhere between a 97 and 100."

Oh, Klaus could almost hug Mr. Parker at this very moment, though he held back his reflexes and instead gave the teacher a happy, relived, and charming smile as he visibly relaxed. Yes!! A chance to get a one-hundred! Though staying after did bug him a bit and basically being told that he couldn't listen to his music anymore was annoying..it was a small price to pay for getting good marks in a class he hated.
"Thank you, Mr. Parker! Can I come in tomorrow?" He asked, his voice much more lighter than he was when he first spoke to the teacher.
He was going to try his absolute hardest.

The sudden 180 in Klaus's attitude caused Christopher to jump a little, and his eyes widen slightly. The smile that spread across the younger male's lips was absolutely.... mouth watering. The man found himself swallowing hard, shaking his head mentally as he leaned back against his chair, though he scooted his chair closer to his desk.
No thinking students are cute. BAD CHRISTOPHER.
After composing himself mentally, he let a warm smile slide to his lips and his eyes closed halfway as he rest his chin on his hands again.
"Whenever you'd like, you may come in. My door is always open."
