Haruka and Rai's Japanese Adventure

[Nicolette]

Needless to say, there was chaos that night.

Ryotaro and Yukari had woken up from Haruka's scream, and Yukari ran to the room at the sound of Rai's frantic cries. She was horrifed to see her granddaughter's condition and she let out her out shriek. Ryotaro arrived seconds later and immediately left the room in order to get the phone to call for an ambulance.

When Ryotaro returned, he threw a pair of pants at Rai as Yukari pulled Haruka into her arms, cradling her with tears streaming down her cheeks. By the time Rai had gotten the pants on, the paramedics arrived. They took towels and wrapped them around Haruka's arms in order to keep her from bleeding out and they put her on the stretcher. They told Ryotaro and Yukari that they would be permitted to follow in their car, which is exactly what they did.

An hour later, Yukari, Ryotaro, and Rai were sitting in the waiting room of the hospital while Haruka was being attended to by doctors. Yukari was crying silently and her husband was attempting to soothe her, running his fingers through her hair and holding her close. The couple looked very aged and it seemed that the incident had very much shaken them.

It was another hour before a doctor came out and called for 'Amagi'. When Ryotaro waved the man over, the doctor walked over with his clipboard. He looked it over before turning to look at the couple and Rai.

"She's in stable condition now. We moved her to a room just a few minutes ago. We have bandages around the areas of injury, so we ask that you be careful with her. She's in room 1342." He turned to walk back toward the hallway and Ryotaro and Yukari stood on their feet. The three made their way to Haruka's room.

When they arrived, a small light was on above her hospital bed. She looked like she was sleeping, her glasses placed on the small table next to the hospital bed. The hospital bed was propped up at a 45 degree angle. She looked so tiny and frail in the hospital gown they'd dressed her in. Her skin had already been pale, but she looked sickly white. Her hair spilled messily down her back, resting underneath her on the bed. Wrapped around her arms from wrist to upper-arm were wrapped in white bandage and it could be seen in parts under her hospital down that part of her chest and her stomach were also wrapped.

"Oh, Ruka-chan..." Yukari whimpered. Ryotaro wrapped his arm around the woman.

"Let's go get you something to drink, love. You look ready to faint." He kissed his wife's hair and turned to look at Rai. "You keep watch over her, alright?"

With that, he led Yukari from the room, leaving Rai with the unconscious form of Haruka. She was hooked up to an IV and a heart moniter. She looked so unnatural in the room, as if her dislike for hospitals was evident even in her unconscious form.

[Faye]

Holding her unconscious, lifeless body in his arms brought tears to his eyes, he continued to cry out to Yukari and Ryotaro until they came to the door, their faces bringing more tears to fall down his cheeks. He was startled by the pants being thrown at him but he frantically pulled them up around his waist, nearly tripping over them as he was attempting to put them on and run out the door at the same time.

Outside, many ambulance officers were keeping Rai back, telling him that he was only permitted to ride behind the ambulance in her grandparents car but that was not enough for Rai, he wanted to be by her side and help her but he was unsuccessful. He reluctantly climbed into the car, staring aimlessly out the window, his mind only focussing on Haruka, wondering how she was doing in there... He wouldn't know what to do with himself if she passed.

The ride to the hospital was long and sweat was running down Rai's forehead and cheeks, embedding itself around his eyebrows. He brought a hand up to wipe his face clean and felt his arms shiver and a coat of goosebumps followed, he was only wearing a skin tight tank top and the pants Ryotaro had given him to wear. His hips only just held them up.

He sat a seat away from Ryotaro and Yukari, he glanced at them while they waited, seeing how distraught Yukari was and was touched by their love and how Ryotaro was soothing his wife tenderly.

The hour was long and felt like many more than what it really was. But a doctor finally came to them, calling the name 'Amagi'. Rai's eyes shot up to the doctor and he quickly rose to his feet, following the instructions to the room 1342 where Haruka lay.

The room was lit by a single light beside the bed, other than that it was dark. Rai walked inside, he nearly choked on his breath as he saw her lying there, she looked a little more alive than she did when he had found her but she still looked as pale as ever. He gave a small nod to Ryotaro as he escorted his wife to get her something to drink.

"Haru-chan..." He whispered softly as he stood beside her bed, his hand gently caressing her cheek as he watched her sleep.

For a while, Haruka was motionless, and the only sign that she was alive was the slow rise and fall of her chest and the beep of the heartmoniter at her side. The room was quiet (except for the moniter, of course).

At least, until Haruka woke up.

It was rather sudden that the girl had woken up. From the injuries she had and the blood she had lost, she should have been sleeping for at least another couple of hours. But she woke up. The first sign of her waking was her breathing suddenly got quicker and her heartmoniter showed a slight increase in her heart rate. Her eyes snapped open and she pushed herself into a sitting position with her chest heaving with the quick breaths she was taking.

She looked around the blurry room, her eyes frantic. She could smell the room and the sound of the heart moniter caused her eyes to widen in horror. She shook her head, shutting her eyes tight as she brought her hands up to her head. She let out a small whimper as she wrapped her tiny fingers around her hair, as if trying to claw at her head and get rid of the memories that suddenly flooded her mind.

In her mind, she seriously believed she was in a hospital, being prepped for another grueling surgery, like she had been nearly twelve years ago.

"Wh...why... Why am I here...?" She asked into the room (she was unaware of Rai's presence next to her). Her voice was small and sounded lost and broken.

[Faye]

Her sudden awakening caused Rai to jerk back, he stumbled a few steps before he realised that she had actually woken up. It was quite early, the doctors had mentioned she wasn't meant to wake up for another few hours or so, especially due to her injuries and the loss of blood.

He watched her closely as her eyes darted about the room, her hands clawing at her head as if to try rip something off of it. He went around the other side of the bed and grabbed her glasses where he gently slid them onto her head.

"Haru-chan... you're here because.. well, you could have died from blood loss," He said, his voice was quiet and like a whimper, he was so worried about her.

[Nicolette]

Haruka let out a small gasp when she felt her glasses slide on to her, as if by magic. She didn't want to be magical! She didn't want to be able to use telekenetic powers! She nearly started screaming, but the sound of Rai's gentle voice caused her head to jerk up as she looked at the boy next to her. Her eyes were wide and scared, but the moment she took in the identity of the boy next to her, she flung herself at him, wrapping her tiny arms around his middle and burying her face in his shirt.

She let out sobs as she clung to him. "Oh Rai, Raaaaiii.... Please don't let them operate on me! I want to be normal! Don't let them experiment on me! Oh please, Rai, please keep them away from me!"

This was the most vulnerable Haruka had ever left herself since she was a child. She was showing a side that had never been seen before. She wanted Rai to save her.

[Faye]

Rai's eyes widened and he was taken a back by the sudden movement of Haruka, she was acting so different to her normal, stern and closed up self when they were on the island. He wrapped his arms back around her, gently rubbing her back to soothe her in some way, he kissed the top of her head out of habit.

"Ssshhh... Haru-chan, it's okay, nothing is going to happen to you," He said, it would be no use to ask about the experiments that she was going on about, but maybe it had something to do with why she ended up in the hospital in the first place? Either way, he would have to wait until she was stable mentally before he asked any questions. "As long as I'm here, nothing at all will happen to you," He assured her.

[Nicolette]

Haruka clung to Rai, shaking as she continued to cry. She had tried to block out the memories of her childhood for so long, but after reading the journal of her father and remembering that those horrible things did happen to her, she discovered that her father had let this happen to her. She could have died, but her her father, HER FATHER, had let this happen for the sake of seeing how a human would react to magic being combined with their DNA.

It was quite a while before she had calmed down, reduced to shaking as she held into Rai's shirt. She sniffled a little and turned her head to look up at the boy who had been comforting her.

"Stay with me..." She begged, her voice reduced to a small whimper. "Please don't leave me..."

[Faye]

As she clung to him, Rai continued to hold her close to his body, his natural scent of sweet vanilla radiating around them. His hair had fallen over hers and his hand gently ran up and down her spine. She was so frail and so vulnerable like this, he couldn't believe this could be a side of Haruka. Was it the real side?

"Shh..." He whispered quietly as she sobbed and she eventually began to calm down but she was still shaking. He only held her closer and tighter. "I can't believe you'd even ask that of me, you should know that I'll always be here, I'll never leave," He had always wanted to say that to her, but she had always been so caught up in everything else going on that she probably didn't see how he felt. Did she feel the same? Looking back on everything, he hoped she did.

[Nicolette]

Satisfied with his answer, Haruka moved so her back was pressed against the hospital bed, but she reached out in order to grab a hold of his hand, lacing her fingers with his. She rose her eyes to look back up at him and a small, weak smile came to her lips.

With that, her eyes slid shut and she let out a soft sigh. "I...feel weak..." She muttered before she faded into the world of unconsciousness, her body taking the time to continue healing itself without interference.

[Faye]

Rai returned her smile with one of his own, pleased to see that she at least acknowledged his commitment towards her. He put his guard up when she went to lay back down, ready to help her if anything else happened but she simply just went to sleep, her fingers laced between his and all he could do was smile contently.

His eyes felt so heavy, he could feel them begin to itch from being so worn out. He rested his arms and his head on the hospital bed beside Haruka's sleeping body and his own eyes slowly closed themselves despite his constant battles to keep them open. He wanted to watch her sleep but his body needed the rest.

So Rai slept next to Haruka, uncomfortably though, but he was beside her. Like she wanted.

The doctor had come in to check on Haruka every hour, but she continued to sleep for a while. Yukari and Ryotaro had come to talk with Rai and when they heard she had at least woken up, they were very relieved.

By the time the afternoon rolled around, the elderly couple told Rai that they would be going to the other hospital where Haruka's mother was (Haruka was at the local hospital, whereas Tsukiko was being kept at a special hospital for her condition) and that they would return by evening to check up on Haruka.

Haruka woke up about an hour after they had left, just as the doctor was coming in to check up on her again.

"Ah, Amagi-san, you're awake." He commented with a light smile as he looked over Haruka's bandages. "How are you feeling?"

Haruka glanced up at the man and gave a small shrug at his question. "I feel fine for the most part, but very tired..." She replied, turning her gaze down to her lap.

"You gave your family quite a scare. We're glad that you're awake, though, and you seem to be doing a lot better. I'll be sending a nurse in in a few minutes to change your bandaging." He wrote something down on her chart before setting it at the end of her bed. "I'll be back later to check up on you."

Haruka waited for the man to leave the room before she looked over at Rai. "You must be exhausted..." Her tone was apologetic.

[Faye]

Rai was woken by her grandparents coming in later on, his eyes were heavy and his bones ached from sleeping in such an awkward position. He wanted to lie down and sleep some more but Haruka's grandparents were talking, it would be rude to shut them out like that, after everything they've gone through. He nodded, taking in that they would be going to the other hospital, Aiiku, to visit Tsukiko, Haruka's mother. He remembered the events there vaguely and his fist clenched a little...

The doctor was the next to bother him but he was only doing his job, Rai reminded himself, he couldn't get grumpy from lack of sleep now. He listened to the doctor talk, agreeing that she did give people quite the scare.

His eyes gazed up at Haruka (he had gone back to resting the top half of his body on the bed) as she spoke to him, he smiled and shrugged it off, "No, no, not at all," A laughing kind of tone seeped into his voice. He was exhausted but he didn't want Haruka to know that. "Though you've already been asked, how are you feeling?" He wanted his own answer, she could of told the doctor anything.

[Nicolette]

Haruka rose her hand to gently brush through Rai's hair. It was surprisingly soft and she enjoyed the feeling of it between her fingers. She let out a soft sigh as she ran her fingers through his hair, resting her head back against her bed. She decided to stick with English as she spoke so her doctor or the nurse wouldn't try to eavesdrop.

"Lost, betrayed, tired.... And very apologetic." She looked back down at him, her eyes softening. "I'm really sorry for all of the trouble I've caused you, Rai-kun... You've seen a lot of bad sides of myself and my past... Sides that I wish no person would ever have to see... And for that, I'm really, really sorry."

[Faye]

A light blush rose to his cheeks as he felt fingers through the strands of his dyed hair, he would have to dye it again soon, or maybe he'll just let it grow out back into black? Maybe, he'd think about that later. He continued to look up at Haruka but deciding that the position he was in was uncomfortable, he sat back up in his seat a little to be more comfortable yet down enough so Haruka could keep playing with his hair.

"Don't be sorry, it's alright... I'm here for you," He nearly started in Japanese, he really needed to be more alert when it came to them changing languages. It was the same back on the island. He still felt a little embarrassed for confusing their waiters and waitresses with speaking Japanese to them. "I really need to concentrate sometimes..." He muttered to himself.

[Nicolette]

Haruka ruffled his hair a little before she brought her hand to rest next to her, letting the boy sit up more before she took her other hand to run through her own messy black locks. She let out a sigh as she shut her eyes, tangling her fingers in her hair as she was quiet for a moment. When her arm dropped to her side, she opened her eyes, but she stared forward instead of back at Rai.

"We've hardly been here three days and there's been nothing but stress and trouble." She let out a humorless laugh. "In the three months we've known each other, all that's happened is trouble. Our first mission, you had to deal with me electrocuting myself. Our second mission, I got cold feet because of the damn dark and then we nearly got caught by the people we were following... Then you follow me to Japan and you witness my mother attack me and then have to deal with me being in the hospital...."

She turned to look at him, her eyes pained. "How the hell do you put up with me, Rai Aikaryu?"
