The third day of January: an important day set aside in the school calender, considering that it was the official ceremony welcoming all of the students to the school for a year of learning. After they've had two hectic days to unpack, move in, meet their roommates and wander around the campus, they would come here to meet each other and hear the comforting words of their headmaster and student council president. Such a joyous occasion...
It made him feel queasy inside.
The Headmaster was impatiently waiting behind the curtain up on the stage of the theater at T'zenshin, glancing from his watch out past the curtains at the forming crowd. There were a few reasons why T'zenshin was run like it was; the most important one for him was that it was so he wouldn't really have to see any of these kids. Most of them came from rich families, figuring this school would pamper them and be a good sign on their applications for getting into Harvard or Oxford... when it did them some real good in giving them real life experience, and also making them less of brats.
Fortunately, this was really the only thing he had to do for the school year, besides graduation (he didn't want to think about that, even though he had just done one a month ago). Still, he wished that time would hurry up and signal him to start, so he can get his words out and be on his way.

The girl was shaking, literally shaking, as she held her papers in her hands. She had practiced her speech practically one thousand times and yet she still feared that she was going to completely screw it up and be the laughing stock of the whole school for the whole year... She wanted the people to look up to her, not laugh at her....
Nicolette De la Fontaine stood on the other side of the stage from the Headmaster... And she was quite glad for this. He was quite scary in the eyes of the seventeen-year-old! She had nearly died when she had received her congratulations from him when she had been accepted as Student Council and then when she had to talk to him about the new computer programs a couple of days before...
She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself down as she waited for the curtain to rise and the Headmaster to make his opening speech.

Finally, the minute hand clicked to the right position, causing the lights in the auditorium to dim, and the students to turn down the volume of their conversing to a few hushed whispers around the seats. The rest of the talking in the audience vaporized as soon as the large man strode onto the stage, his presence filling the space that his form did not. People could wonder how or why such a person would want to be in charge of a school for children... it definately wasn't his style.
The Headmaste paused for a moment, looking across all of the beaming faces in the crowd... that would change soon enough. "Now," he said, his gruff accent adding to his deep, booming voice, "As you all know, it's the start of the school year here. For those returning, you're back. For first year students, you'll want to learn quickly from your upperclassmen. The best years you can have here involved never seeing me again, and I am looking forward to it. Don't disappoint me."
"And now, to welcome you, the Student Council President." And with that comment, the man turned, and walked across the stage out of sight, leaving it open for the girl. He had said what he had to (was pretty much forced to), so he was done in his mind. If they needed anything else from him... well, they shouldn't.

The time she had dreaded since she had stepped onto the plane that took her to T'zen Island. It was time for her to deliver her opening speech. She took in another deep breath, feeling slightly light headed as she gripped her papers in her hand and took a few hesitant steps before forcing herself forward, trying to appear more confident.
Nicolette stepped up to the podium and set the papers down. It was finally time... She took yet another deep breath and slowly let it out before forcing a smile. It was convincing enough. She adjusted the microphone and spoke into it, glad that she would have the extra boost to amplify her soft voice.
"Welcome to the T'zenshin Institute's 2012 school year. I am your Student Council President, Nicolette De la Fontaine. To the new arrivals, I welcome you to our school and I do hope you will feel comfortable and have a wonderful school year. To those who are returning, it is great to have you back."
She straightened her papers and took a glance down at them.
"Student Council took it upon themselves to make sure every school schedule was filled out, all students had a dormitory room to stay in, and the proper papers were placed into the school packets to let students know the regulations for the school year.
"New students will come to learn that they will not be seeing much of administration as they are here for our learning purposes only. Student Council is in charge of taking care of any problems, such as problems with schedules, problems in classes, problems with other students.
"Student Council also deals with punishments over wrong-doing. The only wrong-doing that the Headmaster will take care of is in the event of a murder or rape, which is why he spoke that he wishes not to see any students other than opening and closing ceremonies, unless it is in praise."
She looked over the audience and swallowed hard before she continued.
"I hope to give the T'zenshin Institute a great year and I wish the best to all of you. Live, learn, grow, and become the best that you can."
She moved away from the podium to bow to the audience, shutting her eyes as they applauded.

The crowd was applauding, the first years seeming to get the idea that the Student Council President would be the person to talk to if they needed some help; the faculty was there for show- very, very scary show. But still, she was a nice girl, and that would be the person in charge to look forward to.
However, during the standing ovation, one figure slid out of his seat to make his way up the side of the auditorium, taking the stairs on the side to get up on the stage, coming up from the opposite side of the girl as to not bother her. However, she would notice when the applaud began to convert into confused chatter as he took the podium, a small smile on his face as he adjusted his glasses, waiting for everyone to stop clapping.
He took a moment to adjust the microphone, before speaking, though most of the people were unsure about what this was about. "I'd like to add a few words really quickly. For those of you who don't know, I'm Kyerin Saito, Head of the Student Freedom Force. I'd first like to congratulate Nicolette on being the Student Council President, and wish her the best for this year." He clapped a bit, causing some people to whisper to each other while giving her a small round of applause. Why would the Head of the SFF wish the Student Council President well? Weren't they rivals and hated each other?
"Also," he stated, letting the clapping die down again so they could hear him, "I'd like to say that our first meeting is next week on Thursday, so if anyone wants to come and consider joining, feel free to stop on by. But if you need some help, and Ms. Nicolette is busy, feel free to stop on by, and I'll do what I can to help you. I wish you all a great 2012!" He did get some applause, though it was noticably less than those for the Student Council President.

Aidefgen had finally managed to move into a dorm and get settled in a day before the school ceremony. She was staring at the curtains waiting on whoever was supposed to make a speech. There were many people around her and the noise they were making made it hard for her to concentrate on what was about to happen. She let her ears listen around for a conversation that interested her and she listened to it until the lights went dim.
Her mouth flew open when she saw the man that walked onto the stage. He was taller than any human she had ever seen. She didn't know they could get that tall. Aidefgen blushed when she realized that her mouth was open and then she closed it. She didn't dare say, or do anything while that man was on the stage. After his speech however, she felt a little disappointed. He didn't say much except to depend on the elder students to do stuff.
When the headmaster left the Student Council President to speak, she looked at the young woman come to the center stage and begin her speech. This is the speech that Aidefgen had been waiting on. It was nice and informative. She definitely applauded Nicolette after she was done. The students around her were talking about the Student Council President and how she was going to do an excellent job.
Shortly after the applause, another person got on the microphone. Aidefgen looked a bit confused and applauded again when Kyerin started to congratulate Nicolette again. She was waiting on his reasons to do it again. When he started talking about his club, she looked a bit annoyed. In her mind, he was just taking advantage of Nicolette's speech to get some advertisement out for his own club. She did clap for him too because it was in her nature to be friendly to everyone. She needed to know more about both the Student Council and the Student Freedom Force in order to decide if she was going to join or not. She felt that the speech was coming to an end, so she let her mind wander.
