Elise jumped a little as she felt the contact on her shoulder, she glanced up at him, seeing his eye and noticed something in them that made her think some meaningful speech was coming. She swallowed and listened to him talk. She winced every time he swore, not liking the foul use of language but she bit her tongue, she wouldn't judge him on his use of words. It was his way of expressing himself and everyone was unique.
She would just stamp it down. "Y-yeah.. I'm gunna try that... thank you," Pfft, yeah, when she grew a back bone she would. Her eyes fell back down to her lap after she had finished speaking, it felt awkward to continue to stare at someone. "An..d thank you.. for listening and... talking to me," She murmured, a pink blush returning to her cheeks.

Something told Leon that she probably wouldn't be able to stand up to those people in the way that he was telling her to, but he figured that she would at least make an honest attempt to follow some of his advice. So he gave a light shrug and sat back. When she thanked him, though, he felt his cheeks warm up and he looked away, trying to hide his face from her.
"Well, square one of getting to know a person is talking to them, right?" He said with a casual shrug.

"Y-yeah.."
She swallowed another lump in her throat and tucked her skirt between her legs and thighs again, hugging her legs close to her chest. It was like a vertical foetal position. It made her feel safe, especially with the wall behind her.
Right, she had told him that she wanted to get to know him.. but she was doing a poor job at doing so. All she was doing was stuttering, giving poor answers so it made it hard to continue the conversation. She took a breath and slowly averted her gaze up to his face but her eyes escaped his. "So um.. what do you like doing.. in your free time..?" That sounded.. dorky and pathetic.

Talking with this girl... It was different than what he was used to. He remembered the old questions, like, "What happened to your eye?", "How come you're so quiet?", etc., but so far, the girl hadn't asked any of those questions. She honestly didn't seem bothered by the fact that he was a little weirder than the other people. Maybe she had a secret of her own that prevented her from judging, since it would make her hypocritical if she did judge... Or maybe she was just honestly a good person.
At this point, Leon didn't know. He just knew that this girl was holding civilized conversation with him.
"Ah?" The question was odd, and required a little bit of thought. What did he like to do in his free time? "Uhm... I guess reading... Listening to some music, too." It was sad that he didn't really know what his hobbies were, due to not ever having any freedom or being allowed to really do anything. Damn that horrid man...
"You?" Yeah, he was lame, he was just going to reflect her questions in return, instead of thinking of something on his own.

Elise had gathered up the courage to look up at him as he spoke, watching his lips move as the sounds escaped his lips. His voice held hints of an Italian accent but she could see that American had more dominance, especially in his skin complexion, her eyes studied the features for a moment before she brought herself back to reality, just in time to hear him reflecting the question back at her.
She swallowed and glanced at the wall across from them, seeing how plain and ordinary it was. They sure got a bit lazy down here.. "We have.. music in common..." She started, sounding pleased that they could share music together. "But, I write lyrics to songs, too.. I also like playing on the swings in the.. park," A smile had slid onto her lips by the end of her sentence.

Music was a common ground between them. Swings at the park, though, were something he wasn't all too familiar with. Of course, he'd seen them before, but he hardly ever got to actually sit on them and swing. Lizzie had thought him how to pump his legs in order to make himself swing higher and higher, but that was about the extent of his swinging. He only had done it once or twice in his whole life.
"You write music?" Something to keep the conversation going. "What kind?"

Elise froze a bit at the question. She never.. really put a genre to her songs, they were normally sung while she played the keyboard in the music room. "U-um, I just write what.. I feel at the time... I haven't really put.. a lot of music with them..." She swallowed, hugging her knees closer to her chest, "Except the keyboard, that is.."
At the time, Elise was hoping like hell he didn't want a demonstration. So she decided to move the conversation onto him, she lifted her gaze, "Wh-what music do you.. like?"

Why did she seem so nervous? Talking with another person was hardly hard. Leon had little practice with interaction with others, but he knew well how to talk to people, and even though he found most conversations boring, he wasn't afraid to talk. This girl, however, stuttered a lot...
"Uhm..." He paused for a moment, having to go to a new train of thought. "I really don't have a preference." Just whatever Lizzie and Alex had put on his Mp3 player they'd bought him for his last birthday.

Nodding, Elise tried to think of something else to ask him about music, since that seemed to be the only thing so far that they had in common. "U-uhm... then, what music do you listen to?" She asked him, blushing a little as she turned away from him. She hoped she wasn't asking too many questions that it was beginning to annoy him.
She could feel her legs start to ache so she slowly let them slide down to the floor, the cool linoleum floor was soothing and she rest her hands in her lap, fiddling with the material on her skirt.

Leon reached into his pocket and pulled out an Mp3 player, switching it on and holding it out to the girl. "Check for yourself."
He had a lot of different genres of music. There were some classical and calmer pieces that Alex had put on, while Lizzie had uploaded some more fast beat, pop-like songs. There were a few darker, louder songs of the punk genre, but overall, it was rather balanced.
"I honestly don't entirely know what's all on there. Most of the music was on there when it was given to me."

Elise blinked as he handed her his MP3 player, the lights were pretty and she scrolled down the list of songs and artists with her thumb. Her eyes caught a few songs that she knew of and smiled. She swallowed and exited the song list into the artists, it was easier to search for songs that way.
"You have a lot of music and.. I know fair bit of.. it," She said softly as he spoke of his lack of knowledge about the content of his MP3. Elise didn't have an MP3, she had an iPod, a cute green nano that she took everywhere with her. "Who gave you.. your music?" She asked, curiously.

"Some.... old friends from back home..." Leon replied after a few moments, his voice quiet as he stared off at the wall in front of him. He reached out to take the device back when she was done. "They were pretty much the only friends I've ever had." He gave a shrug and sat up against the wall, shifting his weight to keep his ass from falling asleep.
"So, we've determined one thing... We have a common like for music." He glanced at her. He wasn't entirely sure what else to say... And he couldn't help but wonder if she'd ask more about the friends he'd mentioned. It wasn't often that a person knew only two people his whole life.

Elise handed the boy back his music player and was surprised to hear what he said about his friends. H-his only friends..? It was so similar to him that she felt it was.. too much of a coincidence. Swallowing, she turned her gaze back to his, trying to keep her confidence (well, what little she had) up.
"And another thing.. we share is that... we both only have.. two friends," Perhaps three, if they continued any further than this encounter. Something about Leon's personality told her that they probably wouldn't randomly bump into each other again. Maybe they'd meet while in a class? That would only be in P.E.. She shuddered at the thought of P.E.. Speaking of which, she needed to get a new set of inhalers after school.

Leon turned to look at her and caught her gaze with his good eye. He stared right into her eyes, examining her carefully. They were two completely different people. They'd never heard of each other in their lives before this incident, but they had that one key piece similar between them... They were alone in the world.
He held her gaze for a couple seconds more before turning his eyes to look forward again. He was sure that her reason for having such few friends was how nervous she was when she was around strangers and how she seemed to be a little clumsy in her speech and probably her movements as well. He had few friends because they all abandoned him after he'd lost his eye, brandishing him as a freak.
"Well, then, as the friendless beings we are, I suppose we should stick together. Might as well have someone watch your back, even if it's a stranger."

Elise went to glance up at him and noticed that he was gazing at her. A dark blush rose to her cheeks and her heart began to pound rapidly in her chest. He continued to stare into her eyes and she couldn't help but stare back, it was awkward and normally she would have backed away by now but.. he was so... nice to look at.
Swallowing, she nodded when he finally stopped looking at her and she only blushed a darker shade of red. "That sounds.. like a good idea, thank you, Leon," She felt a little special now, since he suggested that and not so alone. Maybe this school wouldn't be so bad now that she had a friend.. bodyguard.. someone to talk to. Whatever the term was.
