Ah, after classes. Perfect time for Heather Galvin to try out some new tricks. The girl had went and changed out of her uniform and into a pair of black pants with white shoes so that would be able to try out this trick. She was also wearing a black tank top, a silver heart necklace, and she had blue and black stripped arm warmers on her arms.
That would help with the trick.
She was standing on the stage with a chair in front of her. She made sure to face away from the doors so that if anyone came in on her and she was actually doing it right she'd get her ego stroked. Maybe.
Heather spent a good while working out the kinks that she had with the trick. She was getting better, she was no longer tripping over herself anymore at least, that was a definite improvement.
...And then, just as it seemed like Heather was floating in midair onto the chair, she lost her footing at the last second. She fell to the ground, the chair knocked down as well. The girl whimpered and finally laid down as she took a break. Sometimes, doing the tricks of other magicians was just hard...and if she preformed it in front of an audience that actually payed attention to magicians it wouldn't really be that amazing. It was still a neat trick though, one that she would love to do. If only she could prefect, argh!

John was wandering the halls today, pretty much just thinking to himself. Nothing in particular was happening that was very exciting. It was a regular school day, but classes were over now. So he thought he'd walk around and see if he could spot anything interesting. He was no longer in his school uniform, instead wearing a pair of brown slacks and a white button down shirt. He had managed to find his way to the theatre when he spotted a young lady on the stage with a chair in front of her. He tilted his head to the side a bit, just standing in the doorway to watch. What might this girl be doing?
A smile came to his lips as he saw the girl begin to float into midair. That was a nice trick! He took his hands from the pockets of his pants, about to start clapping when he saw the girl's foot slip and her falling to the ground. He knew he couldn't make it in time to catch her, but he still felt his feet rush him forward as he jumped up onto the stage and she laid down. He held out his hand to help the girl up from the floor, a warm smile on his lips. "That was quite the impressive trick there, miss. You almost got it down perfect. "

As Heather laid there she thought about how she could make the trick perfect. She was so very close to doing it perfectly, just something always went wrong at the end or she had to do some weird thing that would make her actually land safely onto the chair. What she didn't expect was someone to come up and offer her help.
Her initial reaction was to jumps upright and make a squeal as she yelled out, "y-you saw that?!" It took her around a second or two to collect herself though and she took the guy's hand as she stood up again. "Er....hi."
Eloquent.

John had let out a laugh, nodding his head as he helped Heather up from the floor and she asked if he had "saw that". He did, indeed. "Hello. You aren't hurt, are you?"
He took a step back, placing his hands back into his pockets. Before he had let go of Heather's hand, he had made sure that she was up on her feet. It was the polite thing to do, of course. He had smiled once more, having an interest in this.. magic trick. Human magic, though easy to spot after being seen once or twice, was still intriguing to him. Sometimes he just couldn't figure out the trick, and it would drive him mad until he did! "My name is John.

"I've survived worse falls," she replied with a sheepish smile. This guy was pretty polite, but hey, there was nothing wrong with that! She let go of his hand and stepped back, a glint in her eyes.
"I'm Heather Galvin," she said, laying her arms out flat in front of her and bringing her right hand to go over her left hand. In one quick movement of her right hand she made playing cards appear in her left hand. The girl smiled up at John and finished her introduction. "Magician in training. Nice to meet you, John."

John clapped his hands when the playing cards had appeared in Heather's left hand, flashing his smile once more. She was quite the magician, even if she was still in training. At the rate she was going, she would most likely end up being quite the magician and probably one of the best, seeing as how early she is training. "A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Galvin. If you're this good in training I cannot wait to see when you're a professional."
He looked into his pockets for a moment, holding out his hand to Heather and showing her his palm and the back of his hand. There was nothing there, but as he turned his hand back over there was a quarter that he flipped between his fingers, letting a small laugh escape his lips. "This is about one of the.. few tricks I know. Not very impressive, I admit."

John certainly knew how to stroke a girl's ego, which probably wasn't what you wanted to do when talking to Heather. Too bad he didn't know how much of an ego she had.
"Haha, you're damn right I'll be amazing when I'm a pro!" She said, a laugh escaping her lips. She slide her right hand back over her left and made the cards disappear and then she turned her gaze over to John's hand. Oooh, so he was gonna show her something?
And then when he finished she gave him a dazzling smile. "All tricks are impressive the first time you see them and then they'll get less and less impressive. One of the rules of being a Magician - never use the same trick on an audience more than once," she said, walking over towards the chair and putting it upright again. She wondered if maybe she should try the levitation trick again but decided against it. She'd probably mess up again and angle was a very important thing for the trick to work. If he moved around at all he might see the gimmick.

Oooh~ Such pride, he was impressed. He liked feisty girls. He grinned a bit as she spoke about the tricks, nodding and placing the quarter back into his pocket. It was true, the more you saw a trick the less impressive it got. He had shown that trick to some girls, but really never the same one twice. He knew that the more he showed it the less impressed the girl... or boy... would be.
He walked over to behind the chair, studying it for a moment. He almost had the grasp of this trick, but it was still... slipping his mind as to how it was performed. "Would you care to try it again? This time, I'll be here to catch you if you fall. Think of me as an... assistant, if you will. I promise I won't tell anyone your secrets, either, if I figure it out." At this, he winked at Heather. He would never tell the secrets of an up and coming magician~

The chair was ordinary, of course, the gimmick was something else entirely.
"Hmm....," she started, thinking about whether or not she should allow it. Course, he'd have to be behind her and stay behind her. That would ruin the gimmick after all. "Fine, but you'll have to stay behind me, okay? Tell me if it looks funky or anything," she said, a smile on her face that was both kind and foreboding at the same time. He did something to her, she could easily get back at him and he would never know it was her.
Her ability was certainly helpful for vengeance.

...Head out of the gutter John, head out of the gutter. He let out a laugh, nodding to Heather and walking over behind the chair, where her back would be to him. This must mean that the trick had something to do with being in front of her. Hmm... what might it be..
"You got it. I'll stay behind you and tell you if it looks funny. Though I doubt it will, with you doing the trick and all." He held his hands out slightly, going to watch Heather closely in case she falls once more. He would catch her this time, not letting the pretty little lady fall. "Take all the chances you need, I'll be here to catch you each time."

"You really do like inflating a girl's ego, don'tcha?" She laughed, looking over her shoulder at him. She smiled at him and then looked back forward, holding her arms out at her side once again. Breathe in, breathe out...she needed to get this perfect now, especially since she had someone watching her.
Heather took in a deep breath, her eyes glancing over at her feet while still keeping her head up as she seemingly floated up onto the chair. This time it was perfect. When she landed, Heather's face glowed with pride and happiness. She turned back to look at John and she asked, "So, how was that?"

He absolutely loved inflating anyone's ego.. including his own! He only grinned as she laughed, looking over her shoulder at him. When she did, he winked. "You betcha." He had quickly averted his attention back to watching her, though, just in case she might have fallen. He had a 50/50 chance of her falling. He was watching her now, so she might get nervous but that was also good for when audiences watched her. Help her get her nerves settled with him watching.
As she finished the trick, however, turning and glowing in happiness he had clapped his hands. From his view, from behind, it looked great. No flaws, it looked like she actually was floating. She did not fall either, which was a plus. "It looked perfect. No mistakes, nothing looked funky or goofy either. It was great!"

She really was getting an ego boost from this guy, which was fine by her, Heather loved compliments to bits after all. The girl was smiling from ear to ear and she decided to jump off the chair, her feet causing it to fall to the floor.
"Catch me!" she called out, hoping that he would actually play along. If not well, she'd get her footing! She'd just stumble a bit while doing so is all.

Catch? Haha tha-- AH! She meant catch her for real! Quickly throwing his arms out to catch Heather, he laughed as he stumbled slightly, but he caught her and made sure that she didn't hurt herself, even if he stumbled. He thought it was a joke at first but... it obviously wasn't! "Wow, you must really trust me if you decided to yell 'Catch me!' and ... trust that I would catch you. Then again I wouldn't ever let a pretty lady like yourself fall. It's against my nature."
He winked to Heather, taking his arms from around her and placing them in his pockets. There was no way that he would let such a pretty lady, or guy, fall if he was around. He'd try to catch them, and if he... well.. if his hands slipped he had the perfect excuse. Perfect excuse. Which sometimes.. ended up with a red mark shaped like a hand on his cheek.
