Tucked away towards the edge of the room Melanie sat warming her hands around a cup of coffee. In front of her a book lay open, she had no interest in the book but being a book cafe she thought it might be seen as odd to not have a book facing her. She was on her third coffee now, this caused some strange looks from the people behind the counter, it wasn't every day that they had a young girl drinking enough coffee to keep a child her age up for days on end. Melanie had chosen her favourite black skirt to wear today which brushed the floor around her legs covering her top she wore a black and red long sleeved striped shirt. Melanie almost spilled her coffee when a cat jumped up onto her lap from under the table. “Oh hello Cherub” she said putting her coffee back down on the table. The young cat responded by spitting out an object it had been holding in its mouth onto her lap then began to talk to her in German “Some moron left their bag on the ground so I took their wallet and when you talk to me speak German dumbass” With the wallet out of his mouth Cherub jumped up onto the table and began lapping coffee out of her cup. “Sorry... I mean sorry!” she replied switching to German mid sentence, she found it easier to speak German anyway she had just been practicing her English. “But I don’t think you are supposed to steal from people” Cherub stopped lapping the coffee and glared at her “I did you a favour, I got that to pay for the coffee and this is how you treat me? You always make your coffee too sweet get me another one.” I had enough money to... Melanie started but thought better of it and simply slipped the wallet into her purse and signed the waiter for another coffee. “Sorry” She whispered again before picking up her coffee and continued to drink.

Right, so her sister had been leaving her out a lot lately, they had barely done anything but spike the stupid Vice-President's coffee and overload it with sixty odd percent vodka. How a bunch of thirteen year olds got a hold of it would be a mystery to the rest of the world. They were professional thieves! Master's never revealed their secrets~
But she was angry! No time to think about the good times and all the fun they have. It was time to hold a grudge against her! No matter how hard it was!
Today, she was wearing her sister's dark denim shorts that just barely covered her bottom but she was slim enough for it to work. On her feet was a pair of black low cut converse and a black and silver checker t-shirt that was left unbuttoned, revealing her white tank top underneath. Yes, she was perfectly dressed for the cold but she was certain it was going to get warmer.
So, Cerys Levenworth found herself in a small book cafe that she noted had the name 'Trestella'. Interesting. She bought herself a small cake and a glass of hot chocolate to warm her hands. It was a bit nippy that day and warm liquid in her belly sounded like a fantastic idea. As she turned around with her tray, she noticed a girl with a cat on her lap. The cat was adorable~ so adorable that she found her legs walking over to the table the girl was at, "Your cat's so cute~"

Melanie shifted uncomfortably in her seat had this girl seen Cherub take the wallet or was she just being friendly. Being new to this area she found it difficult to judge what was normal and what wasn’t. None the less she was blushing uncontrollably with no idea as to what to say. Cherub and made his way onto melanies shoulder and glared at the girl making conversation. This wasn’t in any way defensive of the young girl it was more over to show ownership. When the girl first approached she found herself so surprised that she almost spilled her coffee again. “He doesn’t like being called cute” she said looking at her feet “But he is isn’t he” With this she finally looked up at the girl with a big smile till she felt sharp claws dig into her back where Cherubs hind legs rested “Oww oww oww Sorry” She quickly switched back to German to please the cat then her eyes went quickly back to her feet until cherubs coffee arrived and he jumped onto the table to start drinking. Feeling slightly safer she looked back up to the girl “Sorry my name is Melanie, if my English isn’t too good I’m sorry” Unsure if she should offer her hand to shake or bow she did a sloppy mix of the two.

Cerys went wide eyed at the cat's reaction to her sitting down at the table. "I can see that,"She mumbled back as she saw the cat's claws slowly sink into the girl's shoulder. This cat was either mistreated or very dominant. The second one seemed more likely and it only opened up to more unanswered questions.
Swallowing, Cerys picked up her warm cup of hot chocolate and took a small sip out of, sighing in content as the chocolatey taste hit her mouth.
When a second cup of coffee arrived at the table, Cerys blinked as the cat jumped off her shoulder and began feasting. She shrugged, if he liked it... "Don't worry about it Melanie, I can manage. My name's Cerys, and it's nice to meet you," Melanie looked about her age, but there was something a little more youthful about her. So perhaps a year younger. Yep.

Melanie started shifting uncomfortable in her seat as Cery started sizing her up, but tried to calm down by telling herself she was a nice girl who had introduced herself now. But this had incited her to inspect the girl back. The girls’ pants looked like they belonged on someone who had no legs; her mother had a lot of things to say about people who dressed like that, none of them nice. But her mother was gone and as much as she hated to admit it that was for the best. “Your pants are so short; do you always dress like that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen my knees out in public” Melanie trailed off with a faint smile as she realised she was becoming comfortable, she even managed to get through a sentence without saying sorry.
This was quickly interrupted by Cherub dropping a packet of sugar on her hand; pure reflex caused her to pull her hand back in fear she only just managed to stifle back a yell. Anything that surprised her always brought her mind back to when she was trapped. “Sorry Cherub, here... I though you didn’t like it sweet” Melanie stirred the cats coffee and to be fair there was a difference between one sugar in coffee and four sugars. Melanie put the spoon down and took a sip of her super sweet coffee with a small smile.

Naturally, as Melanie pointed out the length of her shorts, Cerys glanced down at her attire and laughed a little. "I do, I like to be able to move around easily, long skirts, jeans and all those make it hard to do that," She smiled and took the moment to glance at Melanie's choice of clothes. Ankle length skirt, long sleeved shirt. Wow, this girl was like a mini Nicolette in the fashion department.
Cerys watched the cat nudge Melanie's hand with a packet of sugar in its mouth, asking for her to put into the cup he was just licking out of. The Welsh girl was amazing and mesmerised by the action, this cat was either really smart or have some human attributes. Considering the school they were at, the second was seeming more likely right now. "He certainly knows what he wants, doesn't he?" She said, rhetorically.

Melanie nodded a bit as Cery talked “I haven’t found that I need to move about this town too quickly and it’s so cold you must be freezing.” as if just talking about the cold made she quickly took another sip of coffee.
Cherub did look to happy to be the topic of conversation but Melanie ignored this even though she knew she would be the one to pay for it later. “Ohhhh sorry I didn’t introduce him this is Cherub” She was going to pet him as she but thought better of it as she noticed the look on his face. “We only got here a few days ago from Germany, I’m starting at that big school they have here... umm T’zenshin.” She was starting to sound more and more like a twelve year old girl and had a big smile plastered over her face the whole time.

Cerys hummed, "Actually, I don't really feel all that cold at the moment, surprisingly," She smiled, nervously. The cat - Cherub - seemed to be getting angry, did he not like being the centre of attention or was it something to do with Melanie? Cerys thought of a word that would describe him and that was possessive. Very, very possessive. And demanding.
Ah, so that's why she could recognise the accent. She was German. Made a lot more sense now. "That's cool, I not long started attending to, I moved from New York, but I was brought up in Wales." Oh, the good ol' days back in New York, she missed them. She also wondered if the police had any luck finding 'The Phantom Thief; Ghost'.

Melanie had no idea how the girl could stay warm in those tiny pants, but as long as she was happy who was she to judge. Melanie almost jumped up off her seat “You attend too, that is great, me and cherub start tomorrow. Maybe we will be in the same class... Melanie looked at the girl carefully, it was hard to tell because of the way she dressed but she really did look quite young. “What grade are you I’m starting at 7 I’ve never been to school before but, I was home schooled. Cery looked quite nostalgic as she mentioned the places where she used to live “Do you miss your old home? I don’t miss Germany... I don’t ever want to go back” Even though the scars covering her hands arms and chest had healed she could have sworn every time she thought of that place they still burned.

As Melanie rattled off about what grade she was in, Cerys thought about what classes they could possibly have together. "I'm in eighth grade, so we'll definitely have P.E together but I'm not sure what else, what electives did you choose?" She asked, curiously, it was a long shot to think they would have similar tastes in electives.
Melanie's question made her think. Did she miss Wales? She sure missed New York, it sure beat this poor excuse for an island but.. "I dunno, Wales wasn't all that interesting, but I guess I miss New York.." She didn't want too many questions about New York, it would mean she would have to think about what she said.
However, something the younger girl said sparked her interest, "Why don't you want to go back?"
