APPEARANCE DETAILS
Appearance:
Elise is a very petite girl, her frame appearing frail and thin but this isn’t a side effect of an eating disorder. Her pale, creamy skin complexion suggests lack of sun which is partly true since both her parents have slightly darker skin tones than her. She has a natural slouch and it hides her full height of five feet and four inches, the slouch subtracting an inch or two. However, during class she tries to sit up as straight as she can to be polite.
Her face is heart shaped and has a few spots where blemishes were but she is very hygienic and gets rid of them quickly. Across her nose and just beneath her eyes is a very pale cluster of freckles. Her nose is button shaped, small and cute, her lips thin and a pale pink colour. Her hair falls to just pass her shoulder blades and is a deep mahogany colour, any exposure to sunlight shows reds and purples in the highlights. Her bangs fall over her face but are normally pushed out of her eyes so she can see properly, the short bangs just hanging over her forehead. Her eyes are a very light teal colour, they glisten in the light but are always telling the story of how emotional she is.
Clothing Style:
Elise likes most types of clothing but has a soft spot for dresses and skirts. She loves wearing tartan patterns on these kinds as well. However, if the weather calls for it she will wear jeans, hoodies and long sleeved shirts to keep her warm but if she can wear a dress, she will. Not only in cold weather, she wears jeans etc. to be comfortable around her dormitory.
A quick example of an outfit she could wear would be a dark and light grey with hints of a peach colour tartan dress that is tight around the bust area, three pointless buttons down the middle of the bust. The rest of the dress falls to about mid-thigh and has an elastic band around the end so it clings to her legs. Underneath this would be a simple pair of black leggings and a white three quarter sleeved shirt. On her feet would be a pair of dark grey or black sandals and various accessories on her wrists for show.
Special Accessories:
+Double pierced ears, one piercing is a pair of silver hooped earrings and the others are emerald studs.
+A silver star shaped necklace which she hardly is seen without.
PERSONALLY
Over-all Personality:
Elise is very soft spoken, withdrawn, polite and timid. She lacks self-confidence and normally backs out of doing things to increase her potential, especially things like speeches and standing up for herself, although, she will not let other people get hurt in front of her, a slight adrenalin rush helps her put a stop to this. Most people would find her dislike towards competition and fighting a flaw. She often finds it hard to articulate her words to what she wants to say, stumbling over her sentences and she is also very clumsy, making mistakes all the time, especially in classes such as Chemistry. To make up for this, she tries her best to think carefully before action in any situation, making her mind clearer than others though she ends up working a lot slower. However, this causes most teachers to overlook her intelligence and pass it off as just average, when she has incredible memory recall to the point where it’s considered a photographic memory.
When someone has made the effort to get to know her, she does come out of her shell a bit more, however it’s not by much, she still stumbles over her words and gets embarrassed very easily but she finds it easier to joke and mess around with these people and cherishes them dearly.
Due to her lack of confidence, she also becomes very emotional when behind closed doors or when she thinks she’s alone. When she’s made a mistake or thought she’s angered someone, she will eventually shed a few tears over it when the person has left. She hates how frail her mental state can get but it’s the way she is. Though her voice is rather quiet, when she sings it can get to the point where one could consider it strong and pleasant to listen to. She can write lyrics to songs very well and uses it as a way to release bottled up emotions to help her feel stronger.
She adores eating sweets, cakes and meringues. She also likes melon bread but has a strong distaste to dishes involving crab and shrimps and most other seafood.

BACKGROUND
History:
July 27th, 1996, Charlotte welcomed a second addition to their family, Elise Irena Van Daele, younger sister to Olivier Van Daele who he took a nice shine to. Elise was very intelligent from a young age and learned to walk before she could crawl. Her parents weren’t as clumsy and panicky about this child as they had been through most of the troubles with Olivier and knew how to fix their mistakes to do better this time. With her early intelligence, she learned English and Dutch very quickly, able to handle both languages swiftly.
At first, her parents didn’t recognize her ability to recall her memory to a fine detail as her sentences weren’t quite full yet and when she could speak properly and had begun elementary school, they had passed her excelling as just sheer talent. Her school teacher had picked up on it as well but thought there was something a bit more to it than that and began to monitor Elise as she worked away at the set work, giving her extra things to do to see what would happen. The outcomes weren’t what should be considered as pure talent, Elise had a gift and it was one to be noticed and nourished.
So, at the parent-teacher night that was held every term at the school, Elise was taken by her parents to her teacher’s classroom where her teacher went over the work that the students were working on through that term. They got onto the part of Elise’s grades and abilities. Her parents were very intrigued by the teacher’s findings and decided to take Elise to the doctor to find out what it could be diagnosed as. They got their answer as: an eidetic memory, their understanding was that it was the ability to recall memories very vividly. With a quick conversation with her teacher, she was upped into a more academic class and when word got out, the kids began to tease her; calling her a geek, a know-it-all and every other name under the sun. Her brother helped with the bullying by keeping them at bay but it was only for a short time as he was quite a few years older than her and finished elementary school to move onto middle school before she was eight.
The name calling got to her very quickly, she became resentful of her memory and became withdrawn and shy. She kept to herself and didn’t branch outside of her comfort zone for anyone, but she still continued to do well in school, it was inevitable, she couldn’t bring herself to do poorly in a test. During the rest of her elementary school days she didn’t have any friends, the only people she spoke to where the other smart kids in her class and she often went to the library during the lunch hour to avoid being called a loner or any other names.
When she went to middle school, everything changed. Well, not everything, just her social life. She was still put in the high achievers classes although she worked at a slower pace than the others and was often clumsy in some of the classes that required practical lessons and she normally forced her parents to write her a note to not have to do physical education. She hated running and being all sweaty and often had trouble breathing afterwards. After another trip to the doctor, she was found to have a mild case of asthma developing in her. Her parents purchased her the appropriate inhalers and said she should take them regularly to help her keep on her feet.
Also during her middle school years, she found two people who soon became her friends. They were in the higher classes as well but they didn’t have the same problem as she had with her eidetic memory, they were just intelligent. Adele Ter Avest and Cilla Dreyer, they were her best friends and she soon became to see what it was like to have friends, her social life blossomed from there.
She came out of her shell a little but she was still very timid and reluctant to try new things but Adele and Cilla soon convinced her to have a go. Her parents were pleased with the change but they still had her gift in their minds, it seemed like it needed more. Like maybe Elise needed more of a challenge or a way to help use it to its potential?
While Elise spent time with her friends, upping in the ranks of reputation at the middle school she attended, her parents looked for different things that could possible assist in challenging her. They decided on a few IQ tests at first but she didn’t seem phased about them at all, then they gave her a rubix cube which entertained her and kept her busy for a few days but by then, she had found more than enough ways to solve it. Almost at the brink of giving up and calling themselves stupid, they stumbled upon a place called the T’zenshin Institute for the gifted. Reading further, it said gifted varied but they had the facilities for students that had photographic memories or highly intelligent beings.
Relieved, they informed Elise of her transfer and Elise was horrified. She would have to leave her friends. She was fourteen at the time and was nearing the end of her second year at high school, having known her friends for quite a long time now. She would have to leave them, her parents weren’t backing down at all. Reluctantly, she finished up her school year and packed her bags for her flight to the T’zenshin island in the middle of the pacific ocean. Her parents noticed Elise revert back to her old self, timid, shy yet polite, she wasn’t about to open up to anyone.
Now attending the T’zenshin Institute, she hopes that her parents are right and this is a good school. Because if it isn’t, she is sure she will never be speaking to them again. However, she keeps in contact with her friends over in Amsterdam via instant messaging and text messaging since she forced her parents to put her cell phone on a global roaming plan so she could text and call them plus her friends.
Secrets:
None. Although, she tries to not let other students know of her Eidetic memory as she is afraid of being used as a tool.
Gift:
Eidetic Memory: She is able to recall images, sounds or objects in memory with extreme accuracy and abundant volume. She is very observant and can recall almost every detail she’s glanced at. This is especially helpful to her when it comes to studying.
