John Dering was staying after hours in the science lab today, he needed to catch up on his lab work for his chemistry class. To be truthful, he had been caught flirting during one of their lab assignments and was sent to the headmaster to sit out that lab and make it up later. So here he was, sitting in the lab, with his buncen burner and his chemicals and the like. He tapped his pencil lightly upon the desk, watching the flame burn blue before sighing and leaning back on his stool.
This was so boring. He had to make it up though, and he would do his job in doing so. He wouldn't let his grade slip just because he was flirting... and besides... that guy winked at him first! He grinned a bit, leaning to his side and placing his elbow upon the desk and resting his head upon his hand, placing his pencil within his mouth. "He was cute... it was so worth it."
The bad thing at the moment was, he wasn't paying attention to his bunsen burner. The chemicals within the small beaker were boiling, and were starting to give off a small fume. Sniffing lightly, John slowly looked to the beaker and let out a sigh. "Aw man.. not aga--" Before he could finish, he felt his muscles starting to give out and his vision start to get blurry. He leaned forward as quickly as he could, turning off the burner and crashing down into the table as he did. The fume the chemical gave off was a deadly poisonous one. His body gave out and it was just one hit after another, from the desk down to the floor, knocking over his stool as well.
On the paper on the desk which held the assignments instructions had the following in bold letters: Students. DO NOT LEAVE THIS CHEMICAL ON THE BURNER. It will create a fume that is incredibly dangerous and can kill if inhaled.

Adrian struggled with his bag as he walked down the hall, the papers that almost spilled out of it created a confusing and chaotic for anyone that wasn’t him. For him it was only mildly difficult to find what he was looking for. He had his own form of organisation... papers with holes went in the binder, papers without... didn’t. With something that would appear to be luck... and partially was, Adrian pulled out the piece of paper he was looking for. He needed his teachers help with some of the problems on it... he dearly wished that science wasn’t required for graduation. But, alas it was.
He saw the light on in one of the classrooms, and for lack of a better idea, he figured he would poke his head in and ask for... uhh... Ms. R. He couldn’t actually remember her name... but some teachers were satisfied with the first letter of their last name. Hopefully it was common here.
When he looked into the room he had to grin. No teachers... but there was a student, sleeping on the floor. Adrian figured that some kids felt the same way about classes that he did. Which was probably why this student was here in the first place, detention. Then another thing occurred to him... students didn’t regularly sprawl out on the floor, in fact it was more than likely that he wasn’t merely sleeping at all.
With delayed alarm he rushed into the room, dropping his bag on the floor by the door, the backpack expelled all of the loose papers across the floor. He stopped suddenly as a Sylph flew into his face. The creature screamed at him flailing its arms. Trying to sift through the alarm as he listened to the message... he finally caught the gist of it. Poisoned air. At which point he looked exasperated at the sylph and gestured to the vent that drained out toxins from the air. He didn’t turn it on, he didn’t know how, but a sylph could certainly facilitate a fans effects. The sylph had the grace to look ashamed before doing as instructed.
Once the air was cleared of what little poison remained, Adrian rushed to the body, starting to panic. This kid could be dead... that would be bad, really bad. He checked for a pulse, it wasn’t there... then again he was never any good at actually finding the pulse. But he didn’t look like he was breathing either. Ok... CPR. He had done this before, just pump the chest, and facilitate breathing. Despite the fact that he had seen all of the movies and seen all of the sitcoms where cpr was interpreted wrong when someone suddenly became conscious at that crucial moment... Adrian proceeded to use the training he had received for his first aid licence. Admittedly the license was expired and he had been fired from tthe job he had needed it for, but that was because of his power, not any flawed cpr on his part.
Despite the embarrassment it would entail he almost hoped that this kid would wake up before Adrian could do much... simply because it would mean the kid wasn’t dead. Wasn’t lying dead in the science classroom. Wasn’t... dead! Adrian did not deal well with death.

John continued to lie on the floor, not moving and of course not breathing. He was still not alive yet, for the moment, as Adrian began CPR. He was dead. After about a minute or so, which would have gone by extremely fast for the boy doing CPR considering his panic, the body had gasped ever so slightly. Opening his eye ever so slightly, John slowly closed it once more as Adrian leaned down once more to breath air into his mouth. Oh this guy looked pretty cute... his hair looked ... interesting to say the least.
When he began to do the chest compressions again, John let out a laugh, keeping his eyes closed. He was still incredibly still for the moment, trying to act like a dead corpse just for a moment before speaking. "You do this to all the guys you find passed out on the floor?" This time he opened he opened his eyes to look at Adrian, lifting his hands up and placing them behind his head. A grin slipped onto his lips, this night having gotten so much better. Now he had some company!

Adrian jumped back letting out his own burst of laughter, bourn from a mixture of surprise and relief. He took a deep breath to attempt to calm himself... he was working on that. He winced a little bit at what the other guy said, “I’m sorry, I mean... well... you were dead, at least I think you were... You weren’t breathing, but you were still warm and such... I was kind’a freaked I thought that if I gave you CPR you would be ok, because well, that seems to be what youth is taught these days. I was just really hoping you weren’t dead, I don’t handle death well, I get seriously freaked out. Are you sure you’re ok? I mean you were dead... right? I mean I think you were anyway.” Was running on, going at a mile a minute, not really pausing for a breath, he tended to do that when he was nervous.
Then another thought occurred to him, and he glared at the idiot smiling at him from the floor. He was a cute idiot... really... he was at least an 8... Though stupidity might dock some marks. ”Are you simple or something? I mean really, messing with chemicals in a room on your own when you are obviously not good enough to actually know what you’re doing!” His anger dissipating he leaned over John once more, trying to see if he could actually figure out if there was anything wrong with him just by looking... he even tried to find a pulse, and this time he succeeded. “You should probably go see the school nurse...” He bit a lip as he attempted to think of more things to do... ”On second thought, I’m not sure it’s ok for you to get up... I mean you did just die for a few seconds... or more.” His irritation returned still fuelled by well meaning concern. “You do realise that it is mere fluke that you’re even alive don’t you? I mean really, if I hadn’t walked by you would be dead! Game over! Don’t they teach chemistry students to work with buddy systems or something?”

John had let out a quick laugh, staying laying on the floor as the boy began to speak a mile a minute. It was rather interesting, really. How did this kid not get out of breath with that many words coming out of his mouth? Looked like he was thinking about something too...He waited patiently as Adrian continued to ramble, nodding his head ever so slightly at certain moments and then nodding fully that he was alright when asked. He opened his mouth to answer Adrian's quesiton only to be cut off and scolded about the chemicals and his lab work. He nodded his head a bit, taking his hands from behind his head and folding them lightly over his chest. "You got me there. Obviously not good enough to handle it myself."
He looked up to Adrian with his blue eyes as he leaned over him, holding up his thumb in an "okay" sign as Adrian checked for his pulse once more. Slowly sitting up and placing his hands in his lap, he shook his head. He was completely fine and trying to joke about the situation. Trying to lighten up the mood. "Nah, I'm fine. No need to go see a nurse. " He grinned a bit more, patting Adrian's shoulder as he stood up off the floor. "Trust me. It wouldn't be game over if you hadn't have walked by. I got in trouble in class so I was told to finish the lab by myself, but to be extremely careful. Obviously, I wasn't. But I'm alright, and you can see for yourself. Care to check my pulse again?"

Adrian raised an eyebrow as the other kid stood up... He hadn’t realised he was so tall... there was like a foot difference in their heights. But that wasn’t irrelevant... though it did bump up his mark a bit. And for all the stupidity it was charming stupidity... He came out of his internal rambling as he listened to John speaking, “Oh, are you ok? Was standing up to much?” He took the question quite literally, and at the moment was more concerned with his fellow students stability.
“Did the blood just rush to your head? Or...” He reached up and pressed the tips of his fingers gently against John’s neck... He shrugged a little, as he mentally kept track of the beats, timing it roughly with his watch. “I don’t know how this would help really; I only checked to make sure you actually had a pulse... and that it wasn’t completely erratic. In truth, I don’t know much about anything medical... I mean really, I’m just a student, so I have no reason to know anything medical, so even though you asked. Me checking you pulse isn’t going to help much... in fact I really just realised now that you meant that you were ok and that me taking your pulse is kind of pointless, because you just wanted me to check it to prove that you were ok.” Despite what he said he still continued to take the pulse, wanting to wait for a minute to get an actual pulse. His count by the way was not even mildly interupted by his rambling.

John raised his eyebrows a bit as Adrian checked his pulse and rambled on. He kept the smile on his face, placing his hands in his pockets while he waited out the minute. Once the minute was up, he took his hands form his pockets and held his hands up, shrugging a bit. "See? Perfectly fine. No need to see the nurse. I have a pulse, I'm alive. Even though you aren't a medical student you sure did do a good job on seeing if I was alive though."
He placed his hands back in his pockets, leaning back a bit against the edge of the desk and resting his arms upon the table. He was no the same height as Adrian, going to try and reason with him and test the waters as to what he thought about... him being dead. Wouldn't hurt, right? "Say.. What would you say if... I were perhaps.. dead for a couple minutes? And what if I told you... I couldn't die?"

Rolling his eyes at The other kids claims, Adrian stepped back so he wouldn’t have to crane his neck. “You think you’re so smart don’t you? The man who nearly killed himself because he was too stupid to read the instructions!” He bent over and picked up the paper with the clear and bolded warning on it ”Or is the man who sees fit to mock me illiterate!?” He dropped the paper once more. ”immortal my ass”
”If you told me you couldn’t die right after you were dead for a little while... I would obviously tell you that I thought you were an idiot, simply because if you couldn’t die and you technacly just did then what you just ssaid doesn’t make one bit of sense.” He shook his head but continued along his line of thought. ”If I ignored the fact that you were just dead I would tell yopu to prove it... and then immediately regret it because if you were just insane you would be mortal and if you did try to prove it then I would feel eternally guilty because you would be dead.” He finished his line of thought and stopped, feeling he had done what was asked of him.
Now he had a question of his own... ”what’s your name oh immortal chemistry failure?”

John winced slightly as the instructions were shoved in his face, closing one eye and tilting his head away from Adrian. "Touche, my good man."
Resting back on his elbows once more, he listened quietly as Adrian began to ramble about how he was an idiot and how what he said doesn't make any sense. He grinned a bit, seeing that Adrain was starting to piece some things together. He would feel guilty if he were dead? Aw really..? Shucks.
"My name? Well, since immortal chemistry failure doesn't fit... I'm John Dering. Nice to meet you." Standing up straight, he held his hand out to shake. He had the confident grin upon his face, winking to Adrian as he said nice to meet you. Because it was indeed... very nice to meet him.

Adrian grinned as John conceded a point. And when his had was offered Adrian immediately, took it in his, shaking it quickly. When John winked Adrian pulled his hand back, flushing. At first he was embarrassed because the other male had winked at him, then he was embarrassed because he had thought it was something akin to flirting... which wasn’t done between males. So obviously it had just been a friendly gesture... nothing more. “Uhh, Adrian... Varius.” He paused after his first name, almost forgetting to include his last.
He was flustered for a moment, but quickly regained his stability, responding quickly with what tended to work after one has been embarrassed, insults. ”I figured the failure part suited you well, after all... I really think one must have a name that fits them.” The insults... well insult, didn;t last long before he once more went off on a tangent. ”Take Adrian for example, personally I don’t see it as fitting me all that well, there are certain features that an Adrian should have, my uncle was an Adrian, it was perfectly suited to him, he was tall, had hair that was a perfect blond... well built, like my father and my brothers... it isn’t suited very well to me. I always figured people should be given names once they are old enough to actually have a personality or build to fit them.” He was a little envious of his uncle and the rest of the family, he was the runt. ”Take you for example, you aren’t really a John, John is such a mundane name, boring really. But you...” He gave Jhon a once over that lingered just a little too long. ”You are definitely not a John, Johns should be dull looking and boring it really dosen’t suit you... The name John brings to mind such things... such mundane things to mind... like... like... ...like... ... ...” As some of the other uses for the name John came to mind he stopped talking... he flushed as he thought of a certain part of the male anatomy that had that name. His right eye twitched mildly and he conveniently, at that moment, realised he had papers sprawled over the floor from when he had dropped his bag at the door.
Adrian turned away from John and gathered up the papers. ”I should really be more carefull, I tend to just loose things, and have no doubt something will go missing from this experience.. Ill just have to you know, find a better way to organise my papers from now on. Can’t just let them float around like this.” He went on simply to dill the air, attempting to dissipate his own awkward embarrassment.

Forgetting his last name, really? Boy his dashing looks must really be taking effect on this... Adrian. One thing he noticed rather quickly was this boy tended to go of on tangents quit a bit. It seemed like he was ... flustered and would go on these rants when thinking about something and then ... being embarrassed about it. Then again he could be wrong. He did get a slap in the face a couple times because ... he did think something and it ended up being wrong. At the mention of his name, however, John crossed his arms over his chest and grinned a bit. John was a dull name, huh? And such mundane things... Oho.
"Come on, get your mind out of the gutter. Its only the first meeting. And Adrian isn't that bad of a name, I think it suits you." As he spoke he moved over to help Adrian begin to pick up his papers. He seemed to have quite a lot stashed into one bag, and all of it was now across the floor. He smiled, holding out the papers he had picked up to Adrian. "Don't get all flustered, but here are your papers. Just try to keep them together, huh?"

Adrian took the papers from John, stopping just short of snatching them, ”I could have gotten them on my own; all I needed was a little more time to get everything. It’s not like I’m completely irresponsible, disorganized, and dependant.” He shoved the papers haphazardly into his bag, then bit his lip, and because he was brought up to be polite, he added ”But thank you, I appreciate your assistance in gathering my papers... but my mind is most definitely not in the gutter! I just thought that I should pick up my papers... after all, they scattered when I rushed over trying to save your sorry life!” he closed his bag, this time ensuring he buckled the straps.
He was still grumbling to himself, “I am certainly not flustered,” And by now it was almost true, though his emotions flared quickly... they tended to subside quickly. ”So... what series of unfortunate events ended up with you lying on the floor, incapacitated and oh so helpless?” Adrian raised an eyebrow and let a tentative grin spread across his face, entirely willing to turn the conversation around.

John raised up his hands in a slightly defensive position as Adrain took the papers from him, just short of snatching them from his hands. From the way this was heading, he could already feel the sharp pain of a slap on his cheek. Better slow it down a bit, or at least change the subject. "Wow, wow. I wasn't meaning to make you attack."
Picking up the chemistry paper with the instructions, he held it out to Adrain. He changed the subject, perfect! "I don't think I was incapacitated and oh so helpless. I would have been fine if you kept walking. But I was firing up these chemicals to mix it and see what color they become, or something like that. What about you? Why were you walking by to save my ... what was it? Sorry life?" A small smirk came to his lips, leaning against the lab table once more.

Even as he took the chemistry paper –mistaking it for one of his- Adrian took offence to John’s attitude, despite the fact that they were at Tzenshin, immortality was a little too much for him to handle. ”Yeah, it was. And I don’t see how a little bit of gratitude would be amiss.” He opened his bag and shoved in the chemistry instructions, ignoring the fact that it, along with the rest of his notes and assignments were just about crushed into oblivion.
Johns smirk was almost annoying as what he was saying. The man was quite possibly one of the most annoying people Adrian had ever had the displeasure of meeting. ”I was looking for my teacher, because I... apparently unlike the idiot here with detention... care about my grades. So when I came into this classroom un-aware of your idiocy I thought it was to find my teacher... not a cocky moron lying on the floor.” He backed up to a counter of his own and hopped on to it... it gave him a little more height...

... Well, at least he didn't get slapped. John sighed, closing his eyes and tilting his head back. He sure did kinda mess up this one. He could try to make it up. He could try to escape. Then again, he could just continue being himself. He opened his eyes after a small silence, looking to Adrain up on the counter. "Hey, I'm sorry. Thank you for coming to check on me. I appreciate it. It was really sweet of you to do so."
Ruffling his hair a bit, he let out a sigh. His grades, huh? If he really tried he could get a good grade, but honestly, he hardly tried. Hence why he was in detention, by himself, trying to do his lab by....himself. "You're right. I am an idiot, and I am here in detention trying to do my lab. Speaking of which, may I have my lab paper back please?" Standing up straight, he walked over to Adrain at his counter, holding out his hand. Adrain was taller than him now, sitting on the counter, but John didn't mind. "I handed it to you to.. show you the directions... like you asked. Then you shoved it in your bag."
