General Rules:
-One account per person. I know that you may enjoy having an account for each character, but then that clogs things up with lots of accounts and very few people posting.
-Respect and be curteous to other members, and especially staff members. We're all people here, and no one wants to deal with crap. If there is disrespect, try to politely ask them to stop, and approach a staff member about it if it continues. Why be here if people are going to be rude?
-In a similar thread, don't hassle the admins/mods about approving your character or checking on something. We do have lives outside of this board, and we will get to your request as soon as possible. Have patience with us, and we'll have patience with you. Also, if a staff member asks you to do something, please do it. You may not see the reason, but there are perfectly good reasons for anything we may ask, and it will make things better for everyone if you do it, so please do it without arguing.
-The rating of the board is PG-13 for violence, language and light sexual themes
-Authority in T'zenshin works on a three strike system. The first time there is a problem involving a person or disobeying the rules set here, they will receive a warning (Strike #1). The second time within a relatively short period of time, they will be reprimanded and a second warning will be given (Strike #2). At a third infraction, the member will be banned for a set period of time, depending on the severity of the problems (Strike #3).
-The c-box is there to chat with other members for fun. Please keep insults/cursing/degrading comments out of it, along with keeping down the spam. Other people have things to say too, so don't use up all of the space.
-Likewise, no advertising in the c-box. There is a specific board for it that can be posted even for guests, so advertise there. As a note, ANY ADVERTISING IN THE C-BOX WILL LEAD TO AN IP BAN THERE. You have been warned.
Character Rules:
-There is no character limit at the moment. However, if there a lot of characters that are rarely used, there'll be a lockdown on making new characters. No character wants to be ignored.
-No ripoffs from games/anime/movies. We don't mind if you use their picture for your character, but we don't want to see Naruto/Edward Cullens/Cloud Strife at T'zenshin. Be original in your character!
-NO MARY SUES/GARY STUS!!!! Your character is not god's gift to Earth, he/she can not do everything, impress everyone, come out of impossible situations the winner and without a scratch. This is somewhat realistic, and no one likes a spoiled child who always gets their way. If you're not sure if your character is a Mary Sue or not, try this test. Use sections 1, 2, and 5.
-There are no real stereotypes. We don't have cheerleaders or football quarterbacks or computer geeks. Be more original than that.
-As you may notice on the character application, there is a spot for a gift (which can be anything from magic to above average abilities), and a spot for secrets (such as closet homosexual or kleptomaniac). At least one of these must be filled, though having both is just fine. Don't feel pressured to have a gift and a secret; make your own original character. However, each character must have at least one of the two.
-For classes for gifts, there are three current categories: being human, physical gift, and mental gift. Being human is a combination of other abilities, but mainly works on appearances and human society; it's for students who are aliens, werewolves, or some other non-human species. Physical gifts alter the real world, such as manipulating the elements, changing shape, or casting spells. Mental gifts deal with affecting the mind and brain, such as telekinesis, illusions to trick the mind, and detecting energy. If you're not sure which class you're in, just ask a staff member.
-If you need help making an original character, try using this guide as a springboard. If you need more help, feel free to chat with other members/staff and ask for advice.
Role-Playing Rules:
-No God-modding. You do not control everything that happens in the world, especially not other characters. You make other people do things, and we make you unable to post anymore.
-No Power-playing. No matter how awesome your character is, he can't dodge every attack, or have infinite energy, or take no injuries. You try doing this, you'll get a suspension, and later a ban.
-No one-liners. No matter how tired or creatively deprived you are, you can do better than just one line. If you seriously can't think of anything more than that, come back later when you have a muse.
-There are many reasons to role-play, and many ways to here. Don't do just one thing. There are classes to take and study for, clubs to participate in, students of the opposite sex to woo, a school-wide power struggle to assist, sports to compete in, and more! Have variety!
-Keep in a set order. If there is a thread with three or more role-players, have a post order, such as Person 1, Person 2, Person 3, Person 1, Person 2, etc. This allows everyone to react to each post, without them being gone for a day, and have had the whole topic pass them by. If it is your turn and you have nothing to post about, feel free to tell the next person in line to go ahead.
-DO NOT DOUBLE POST IN AN RP TOPIC!!! It's no fun for you to role-play with yourself. If you think so, feel free to go write a story then. This place is here for role-playing with other people. You will be slapped and/or suspended if you do.
-While not as serious, try not to double post in the OOC areas. If there is a reason for you to, that's fine, but try to edit your prior post to add the new information instead.
-Use proper spelling and grammar. It makes it a lot more fun for people when they can read and understand your post without having to run it through a internet slang translater. It takes two more key presses to put down "you" instead of "u". Make the effort. There's also a spell checker to help you out, so make use of it.
-Try to keep OOC out of the role-playing topics. It's fine to ask in an OOC style (usually done at the beginning/end of the post with double parentheses "((*blah*))") if the topic is over, or if they should move from one place to another, things that relate to the topic. But don't use a post to talk about the hot date you had last night to make your friend jealuos, or such things. There are specific OOC places, and e-mail/IMing for that.
