Date of Birth: June 12th

Western Zodiac: Gemini
Place of Birth: Carlyle, Taranaki, New Zealand

APPEARANCE DETAILS
Appearance: Caleb is actually a fair bit taller than most of the students, standing at around six feet, three inches. It's made him look quite professional and in charge... even though he's quite skinny, making him look more like a beanpole, though he doesn't care. His hair is also striking, having long bangs that partially over his glasses, resting at the base of his neck in the back... oh, and it's lavender in color. His hazel eyes usually stare with a combination of intensity and amusement through his glasses, rarely blinking. Caleb's skin is quite pale, though it's more of a faded pink/peach color as opposed to white.
Caleb, thinking
Clothing Style: Caleb's regular attire is his glasses and a labcoat. To be honest... pretty much his only outfit ever is a labcoat. His closet is full of them, and they are all clean and pristine. No one has ever seen him in anything else, and while people try, he won't wear anything else. He's more likely to go nude than wear something besides his lab coats.
Special Accessories: His glasses, he supposes, though they're less of an accessory and more of a requirement. Without them, he can barely differentiate shapes and color apart. The world's just one big messy blur.
PERSONALLY
Over-all Personality: Caleb, in blunt terms, is crazy. He's known to lock himself up alone for long periods of time with little food or water or even sunlight, working. He doesn't really care too much for stupid people and their shenanigans, and a majority of people fall into this category, considering that his scientific and mathematical knowledge is on par with genius ranking. However, people who do catch his interest are usually worse off, considering that he prefers to interfere in their life then. Even the idiots can get his interest, though they are usually used as guinea pigs.
In his spare time, Caleb enjoys working in his labratory, creating various devices, some useful, some merely for his amusement. For the most part, they are defective, not working as planned or exploding. However, the ones that do work tend to cause more trouble than they're worth. Of course, he also has to watch people for inspiration, but he likes to do it without being noticed, so he'll sit at high places with binoculars, or through one way windows and such. His greatest passion is for science, with a lesser passion in math, leading to his job as math teacher.

Dislikes:
-Mobs
-Disrespect
-Fear
-Intentional Manevolence

Fears: Caleb doesn't really fear much; death could happen at any moment if an invention, and even if he was alone and locked up, he could still think. So, probably the worse fear would be to become a vegetable, though he wouldn't know he was one then.
Habits: -Cleaning his glasses while he thinks
-Replying to accusations and bets/dares with "Oh really?"
-Tuning out boring/ignorant people
-Gets up early, and goes to bed late
-Honest, though he's rather blunt about it
Sense of Humor: His sense of humor is somewhat depraved, finding humor in things that are twisted. Still, he does have some morals; he doesn't create that sort of humor... at least, not intentionally.
Goals:
-To succeed in inventing new gadgets that will be widely used.
-To not have his house set on fire.
-To have guinea pigs to test his inventions on
-To finalize genetic manipulation
SCHOOL/OCCUPATION
Faculty Form - (Faculty Only)
Subject: Math
BACKGROUND
History: Caleb was born to Jonathan and Jenna Shaw, the third of their five children. Jonathan was a store manager for a local business that had been in the family for several generations, so all of the children, Caleb included, ended up working there at some point to help out with things. Even though the family made it through year to year, considering that not many people shopped at local businesses, they didn't have much extra money, so the kids all had to improvise for toys and playing. Caleb was a bit more talented in that regard, seeming to have a knack for making things... even if it was just slapping some wood together, some string, and then having a new little game to play.
School came and went for Caleb with little incedence or note for him; he specialized in science and math, finding little trouble in those fields, and trading off his intellect in those categories for having papers and reports done in other classes. No one told, so he graduated from high school just fine. College also went smoothly, a local university finally releasing him into the world with a masters in science. His first job placed him in a mechanical lab, which he excelled at. However, there was just one problem: he had to do what the higher ups told him to. That didn't really fly with him, so after saving up money from working, he quit, moved away, and bought his own place that was big enough to both work and live in.
Thus, Caleb began his own work... somewhat. He opted, since he was on his own payroll now, to hold off on changing the world just yet, and go back to get his PhD, mainly because he liked the idea of being called Dr. Shaw. He barely managed to squeak by, feeling much more independent now to antagonize the professors. Still, in the end, his knowledge was too much for the faculty to refuse giving him the degree, which was just the icing on the cake for him.
Caleb's work began soon after, starting small with such things as repairing other gadgets and making upgrades (not technically legal or safe upgrades, but improvements nevertheless... for as long as it could last) to gain more funds, before working on his own inventions. His first attempts were with genetic modification via a central machine, which would have multiple uses (from human alterations to crop/livestock improvement)... but instead of having fresher longer lasting carrots, the vegetables became sentient and violent, resulting in all of the carrot fields having to be razed... and an angry mob doing the same to Caleb's home.
Fortunately, with his money in the bank, and extra plans stored in a safe place, the scientist acquired a new abode to work from. The genetic project he continued to work on... just under wraps with no public testing. However, even without that, sooner or later, one device that should have been working properly would go awry, and his house would be set upon by an angry mob, Frankenstein style, complete with pitchforks and torches and whatever other threatening items they could get their hands on. Each attack would find the place empty and would burn it down for good measure, causing the scientist to acquire a new place. His insurance rates skyrocketed after a few places, so he stopped purchasing it, and only by paying the entire cost up front could he get realtors to sell him a new home. He was pretty much blacklisted on the market, and his family had cut him off, both financially and relatively. He was alone.
The final incident was a rogue group of robots; originally programmed to be assistants and covering menial tasks, Caleb botched the programming (he will admit that programming is not his forte), resulting in the robots using their various tools as weaponry for destruction, ultimately leading to the military being called in to mow them down, and the whole thing being labeled a complete disaster. The genius took the hint as soon as he saw the first signs of chaos, emptying out his account and leaving the country to avoid being persecuted and jailed. However, this left him with one problem: what to do now?
Caleb managed to at least gain some luck when he found a private school on a private island unaffiliated with any country for special students who was in dire need of faculty. A wave of his PhD and agreement not to destroy the school (or at least attempt to; accidents were probably bound to happen), and he was signed on... as the math teacher. Apparently, they already had a science teacher... and while Caleb would be fine teaching math, it may just so happen that the science teacher may end up having an unfortunate accident and he would have to fill in... maybe. He would have to see how this teacher was and if they... amused him enough to avoid such a fate.
Secrets: Caleb was infamous in the area he lived in back in his homeland of New Zealand as an evil genius, labeled as a villain and threat to society. It's not that he's evil, it was just that they caught him at bad times. He came to the Institute to start fresh... well, fresher.
Gift: Caleb is exceptionally smart with machines and electronics, having a genius like intellect in the department. The devices he invents are almost like dreams from the future... though they tend to go awry.
