Klaus Leighton was bored, and he didn't exactly want to go back to working again. Certain subjects were bothering him, and when he worked on one particular subject Klaus's mind wandered to places where it shouldn't all because of a certain someone, so what was he to do?
Simple, look around the school.
Dressed in his school uniform, he found himself at the Clocktower. All year long, he had respected the rules (save for a few, minor little things like listening to music in class) and hadn't gone into the Clocktower...but he did kinda wonder what made it so offlimits. Hmmm...
Bringing a hand to his chin, Klaus started to think about why it could be offlimits, and think about if he should go in and see for himself. No one had to know that he was in there...and if no one saw him then he was good to go! But eh...was there anyone around?

The very, very, very first thing she did when she came to this school was go to the front office and pick up a map of the campus to add to her collection. But instead of pinning it to a wall like she usually would, she realized how useful it was!
So here was little Emily Byrne, stumbling around the Institue with a map in her hand half the size she was. Scrunching her nose to try to push her glasses up to see a little better, she pointed at the place on the map she wanted to go to as if it would MAGICALLY~ take her to the clocktower. That would be cool, and helpful. She really wanted to see it!
"If I were a clocktower, where would I be?" Emily asked herself. Looking around the map (which actually covered her face where she couldn't see past the print,) she became slightly annoyed with herself when she could clearly see a tower and another, older student just ahead, "Right here. Duh." Emily replied to own her earlier question casually. It was only polite!
Folding the map up and putting it into her bag, Emily skipped over to the clock tower with a wide, friendly grin on her face. "Hi! Are you about to go in there? I don't think its allowed. But if you've been in there before I'm sure you'd know that at this time no one should be snooping around to check. I don't really know, I was just guessing," the redhead rambled on cue of seeing a new person. The people here were nice, but if they ignored her- they ignored her! It wasn't that bad. "If I were you, I'd go in there. You look like you could run and hide or something if you knew someone was coming, because I'm willing to bet you'd know SOMEWHERE to hide. I had to use my map to get here. Oh! I know! I could stand watch! It would just be like a movie!"

Klaus was taken from his thoughts by the sound of a much younger, female voice and he turned his attention towards her. Taking his gaze from the clocktower to the girl next to him, Klaus was taken aback by her rambling. What...in...the world? Who was this girl...? She was...talkative, Klaus wasn't sure if it was endearing or annoying, either.
"I was...er, thinking about going in, yes. But I don't know if I am," Klaus replied, not too sure what to say to this girl. Goodness, was she going to start rambling again?

She blinked, a little dumbstruck that he said something back. The weird thing just was, well...Nothing was weird at all! Oh geeze, her thought process was starting to get obnoxious. "I think you should do it." Emily said with a few following nods. She didn't want to keep talking and scare him away! "I mean, don'tcha want to know whats in there and why its off-limits? Maybe..Maybe there is a dead body, or a laboratory, or a hidden world--like that door in that one movie with the lions and the little kids and the goat people! Oh! Oh oh my saint Mary! You have to do it!" She was starting to realize she started to talk more again, but this was just too exciting.
"I'll keep watch! I promise if I see ANYONE, I'll..uh..Say something, like a codeword or something. Or speak really loud to the person so you could hear me and hide! It will be perfect, and and and it will be.. an, uh, ADVENTURE!" she almost yelled the word 'adventure' but she couldn't help it! This would be fun if he didn't pansy out and leave.
"Oh," she started- missing out on something important in, well, normal conversation, "My name is Emily. Emily Byrne- but we'll do formal introductions and stuff later! Go! Go! Go!"

...Emily had a very big mouth and a very active imagination...it was kind of cute, actually, though it did leave Klaus a bit bewildered. She was VERY outgoing, more outgoing than anyone else he's met on the island.
"You could come with me. No one's really around the clocktower around this time and I'm sure you want to see why it's offlimits too, eh?" Klaus asked with a smile as he started to walk forward to the clocktower. He wasn't sure if she'd get in trouble for just hanging around it, so he'd better be safe than sorry. He didn't want a cute little underclassmen to get in trouble cause of him (someone who should know better).

But..what if.. Oh well!
"Okay!"
Following him with a wide I'm-going-to-see-dead-people-laboratories-and-goat-people look, Emily caught up with the upperclassman and adjusted her glasses. "Do you think its locked? If it is, are we still going to find a way in?"

"Hmm..." Klaus thought to himself, tugging on the door a bit. Yeah, it was locked, he didn't think this far ahead. No matter, he would just have to improvise.
"Hey, you have a bobby pin of some sort? Or something similar?" He asked her, turning his gaze back to look at Emily.

Emily's lack of control in her facial expressions seriously got on her own nerves when she thought about what Klaus asked her. Bobby pins? Really? "I'm normally not this rude," the girl said slowly, "but I'm pretty sure that only works in movies..And I don't.. watch a lot of movies. Thats not good." Blinking, she shook the random thought off and replied:
"I've never had a bobby pin on me in my whole, entire, colossal life. I don't even think I own any."

Klaus looked over at her and smiled a bit. Oh, he thought that before he heard of how to pick locks and, out of curiosity, tried it before. It was pretty clever, if he said so himself.
"Ah, fine then...let me show you a trick," Klaus said, opening his brown bag and looking for something to help him pick the lock. Hm...no...no..no, ah! He took out the small...whatever it was that managed to get into his bag. Seems like things always found his way into his bag even if he didn't expect them too.
Klaus went to work on the lock, though it took him around a few minutes to actually hear the click and, it opened. The boy grinned, and looked over at Emily.
"Well? Let's get going," he said, moving forward into the clocktower. Ahaha, the times when liking detective stories payed off...though Klaus did have to wonder if he should really be doing this -
Ah well. He already picked the lock.

While the 12 year old watched the older boy pick the lock like it was nothing, her eyes got bigger and bigger until the click of the lock popped it open. Like magic! "Holy meatballs!" Emily exclaimed, both of her hands quickly covering her mouth.
When the boy went in, she took one step forward--only to take two more steps back in hesitation. "Uh.." Emily started, struggling to keep sight of him in the tower while still standing outside, "Wait for me!"
Running in behind him, she looked around carefully to make sure she didn't trip over anything. "Wha'tcha think is in here?" Emily asked, tugging on the back of her new friend's shirt. "Hidden treasure? A scientist? A flock of zombies that only eat..err... guys who know how to pick locks? OH! What if this is a secret meeting ground for an evil organization of magic users bent on destroying humans! That would really suck. Its okay though, because I'll protect you, Friend." Smiling, the redhead skipped ahead of the older boy to look around. "...Shouldn't there be a staircase or something around here?"
