APPEARANCE DETAILS
Appearance:
Emily has dark, naturally wavy red hair thats cut just at her shoulders. Her bangs are cut above her eyes, and there isn't really anything special about her hairstyle except that sometimes she has a ribbon or two in it, but thats it. Her eyes, which are behind a pair of thick-rimmed glasses, are a dark blue-green and her skin is naturally fair with tones of red and pink after going out in the sun (she doesn't tan.)
Being only 12 years old, she still has some baby-fat in her face and stomach; however, in build, she is rather lanky standing at about five-foot-four with long arms and legs that don't seem to fit the rest of her body yet. She has braces, which she started wearing a weeks prior to starting attending the T'zenshin Institute.
Clothing Style:
Her clothing style is unusual, to say the least. Emily is basically the reflection of her older sisters, who like making clothes and designing outfits. She wears dresses with wide varieties of prints (she likes "old-lady-floral" the most,) with knee socks and flats, to shorts and long sleeve shirts with an old pair of chucks. There isn't just one color theme to what she wears, but several, and there is always some sort of animal necklace around her neck. She collects them.
Special Accessories:
No matter what she is wearing, Emily is ALWAYS wearing a necklace with an animal pendant on it. She has collected them for two years, and she has accumulated 15 different ones so far--and she is VERY proud of them.
PERSONALLY
Over-all Personality:
Emily is your average, chatty, imaginative, stubborn, little girl. If you get her talking about something she loves, she won't shut up and she tends to babble; however, she'll listen to what you have to say, too. She is quick to entertain herself, drawing pictures or just laying down, letting her thoughts keep her company. Though all of this is well, if you tell her something that isn't right (or at least, she thinks isn't right,) she'll be the first to tell you and keep her mind to it. Her mindset is everything but flexible and she is very set in her ways. Not completely immature like most kids, but every rose has its thorn.
In school, there isn't a class where she doesn't raise her hand to ask all of the "what if" questions and because of this she doesn't really get the best grades. Despite this, she is still considered a little on the nerdy or weird side because of how she presents herself and just how many question she asks. Shes too focused on asking "why" than just doing it. She'll admit when she doesn't understand something, and insist someone help her with it. Shes definitely an enthusiastic student-- there are just always those distractions like the question "why" and better conversation than math and english. After all, Emily certainly likes her conversation.
On her down days, she only thinks of her sisters and her home. Naturally, the girl gets homesick and that is almost the only thing that can really, really, really bring her down. Other than that--Emily is normally a very happy girl on her own, natural high that is almost contagious.

BACKGROUND
History:
Emily was born the youngest to a very loving, large, household. Being the youngest out of 5 sisters and one brother, she was actually given extra attention being the last child to Emma and Patrick Byrne. She was always given love from all of her siblings and parents--which she will later find out that this was one of her many blessings.
Every Sunday the Byrne family would go to mass, every weekday the children would go to school and the father would go to his job in real-estate and her mother would go to work as a hostess for a local restaurant. The eldest children would set up where the three would split up what to cook for the family's dinner, and the youngest would clean. On weekends the parents cooked a big and extravagant meal for the children and their friends. Everyone pulled their weight and was praised for it. The ideal life for any child, and more of an ideal life for Emily. Everything was in order, but enjoyable. Seemingly everything was there to have, but you had to work to earn it! She loved every part of it. Her most memorable part of her life, despite all of these wonderful memories, would be her room. One wall was a giant chalkboard, one wall had two big windows, the other wall had her bed, and the other wall had her giant "idea desk."
Since she could remember, small animals were always drawn to her. The mice in her kitchen, the birds by her window- sometimes the neighbors dog, would come up to her with seemingly no reason. She'd be nice to them, naturally, feed them and take care of them if she thought they needed taking care of- and sooner or later, she would start to understand them. It wasn't exactly a "I cant understand what you're saying now, lets have a chat" thing--just a "I understand you now." It was like a part of the animal was a part of her, and she could understand its thoughts and feelings. A little alarmed by the more constant occurrence of these instances, she went to her mom and dad.
Incidental, her mother has the same ability. Her mother, her older brother, Thomas, her grandfather--it was natural that this understanding of other animals ran in the Byrne bloodline, and generally it was accepted. No harm done.
At school, the teachers were a little surprised at how much the youngest Byrne talked. To the teachers, during discussion, to the other students, to the mice, to the birds, to the faculty--she wouldn't shut up! This was hardly unlike her older sisters, who always kept to themself or in their little group of friends. They talked to Patrick and Emma, but the only reason was that it was just typical of their little girl. She just had a lot to say.
So, with this in mind, the teachers understood. On the other hand, her peers did not. The more she talked to the random stray cat, the more her schoolmated didn't talk to her. She didn't mind though. She had better "friends" than that!
Her teachers cared though. Everyone for every year.
Having conference after conference with her teacher, everyone questioned the fact how chatty she was during lectures, asking questions and everything--and yet she didn't have many friends. It wasn't natural, and there was always a little something unnatural about little miss Emily Byrne.
Her brother being in high school at time, and Emily being too young to enroll, their parents FINALLY found a school where they both could seem..normal. After all, their mother, Emma, who had the same ability, didn't want her children to go through the same things she did--no matter how small or seemingly useless gift it was.
So, that was the year Thomas Byrne got enrolled in the T'zenshin Institute.
This year, it is his youngest sister Emily's turn--and shes going to start, and finish on a GOOD foot.
Or at least she hopes so.
Secrets:
She doesn't really have any secrets, except that she can talk to animals, but she really doesn't keep that a secret to those who ask.
Gift:
She can communicate with any animal that she can "befriend" first (so, she can't really communicate with an animal set on killing her or one thats overly hostile.)
