It was lunchtime and that meant the students got a nice little break from the rigorous course-work. Jonas didn’t eat very much so he sat on the large windowsill and switched between gazing out the window and the usual people watching in the cafeteria. The seat he chose was unintentionally chosen out of habit. He liked to be the dominating figure in a room whenever possible. He sat with his back against the windowsill so that he could easily glance out the window. One leg dangled off the edge while the other bent with his foot flat on the sill. The seat at the sill had made him seem like the king of the cafeteria, towering over others at the tables. If he were a being that was native to this world, having still been brought up the same way, Jonas would be of nobility.
Sinking his teeth into an apple, his mind would frequently wander. Food like this was interesting to him, so sweet with an appealing texture. Most students wouldn’t pass by him but when they did, Jonas would quickly snap his head around and glare at them with an odd smirk upon his face. Having been a fairly new transfer student, he hadn’t taken the little opportunity given to him to make some friends. Most assumed that he didn’t want any friends, which was easily understandable.
His attention seemed to mostly be focused on the snow outside. It wasn’t too abnormal, he knew what it was; however, coming from a place where it’s always scorching hot, it’s still an interesting sight to behold. Before losing too much focus on reality, Jonas took another bite of his apple as he scanned over the cafeteria again.
(( I know that I didn’t give a whole lot to work with but I’m just throwin it out there. ))

Aalyshah sighed as she entered the cafeteria. She had been busy doing course-work for too long. She just wanted a nice meal to eat and maybe to make some small talk with some random student of the day. She loved to meet new people. She followed some students to a line in the cafe and looked at the selection of foods they had to offer her for the day. Since it was an international school, the selection was huge. She selected the black pudding, square sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, and fried bread for her lunch.
She took a quick glance of the cafeteria before laying her eyes on a person eating an apple near a windowsill. She walked towards him and then she sat at a table near him. She looked up at him and then smiled faintly. "He...hel...hello sirrah. N...nice day right?"

A small girl, only a little younger than Jonas, seemed to take notice in him and wandered over. She was short, shorter than him and seemed to be nervous. He had that sort of affect on most people, as could plainly be observed from lunch today. About to take another bite from his apple, she sat near him and attempted to make small talk. If she hadn’t called him sir then this would have just been another verbal lashing. Jonas got enjoyment out of frustrating others, pushing their limits. She looked like just another helpless little fish in a big pond. He thought it to be pathetic when others let themselves be consumed by the sharks of the school. Being the predator could be exhilarating and that’s why Jonas is what he is to this day.
“Hmm”, he said, smirking slightly, “Do I scare you?” Jonas closed his eyes as his smirk turned into a smile, “I rather enjoy being feared, it gives you the feeling of always having the upper hand.” Before speaking he looked out at the snow again, “Everyone’s afraid of something, I just make it easy for others to ‘choose’ their greatest fear.” Jonas took another bite of his apple, with only the core remaining. He enclosed it in his palm for only a moment then revealed it frozen over with a thin layer of ice. “People fear that which they don’t understand so why try to change their minds when it’s just so much more entertaining to terrorize them?” he questioned rhetorically before placing the frozen apple core gently on the table near the girl. A smile grew upon his face again and his eyes closed as he hunched over, facing towards the girl, “The real question is, why do you respect someone that you fear?” As soon as Jonas finished the question, the apple crumbled into dust and the ice simply melted. He sat there in the same position, waiting for some sort of response out of the diminutive girl. The silence around them was only broken by the occasional dripping of the water, which once encased the apple.

Aalyshah wondered how this person would react to her. She hadn't seen the person before. After her question she listened for the reply. She didn't like what she heard. The person talking to her was a pompous ass. She kept the smile on her face and listened to him as he spoke. He was so sure he was better than everyone else in the cafeteria for some reason. She thought about charming him to see what would happen, but changed her mind. When he was done talking, she spoke to him. During his conversation, she had been eating a part of her lunch. "No...I'm not scared of you sirrah. Why would you think that? I...just like to approach people that I've never met that way to give them the feeling of having the upper hand at first. I thought you'd like that and apparently I was right on the dot."
Her demeanor changed suddenly as she began to act with more backbone than she had entered the conversation with. She wondered what the person in front of her meant about why would you respect someone that you fear. She noticed the room become suddenly quiet and didn't know why. She thought of a response to the person and then said, "I don't think I do respect people that I fear. I see no point in it. If I fear someone, it's because I'm afraid they might bring harm to me. If they'd bring harm to me, I wouldn't think to respect them. I'd try to eliminate them in matter of fact." She took another bite of her meal and then licked her lips. A quiet 'mmm' sound escaped her mouth as she chewed and swallowed.

The whole time that the girl spoke, Jonas sat there with his eyes closed and a big grin across his face. She went back to her lunch, signaling that was the response she wished to give him. Chuckling slightly, he sat back up and placed a hand under his chin to hold up his head, ”Even if it’s a fight you cannot win, you’d still wish to kill the one you fear.” Jonas opened his eyes, revealing the red swirls in his irises. “That’s not going to help you beat a stronger opponent such as myself. What you really need is to get stronger”, stated Jonas. Taking his unused arm, he floats his hand around in the air upside down, as if holding a ball and trying not to drop it. Small streams of fire emerge from his fingertips, circling around in his palm. “If you don’t want to fear anyone then you must become stronger than them”, Jonas claimed, with a smile upon his face, “It’s obvious that you’re not.”
He sits back up on the windowsill like he was before being disturbed by the petite girl. Gazing outside, Jonas’ mind seems to get lost in the snow. Some might take this for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) but a warrior doesn’t fit well in society. Going from always having adrenaline fueling everything you do to hardly every experiencing that thrill again. Unless he planned to lash out at the girl, there was little point in continuing to get all excited; other than the torment it brought others. It just feels like an off day for Jonas. He reassures himself that’s what the problem is and that things will be better tomorrow.

Aalyshah was eating her food when the boy started to answer her. She swallowed what was in her mouth and then looked up in his eyes as he talked. She wondered why he automatically assumed that she'd fight head on. She wouldn't stand a chance against someone if she tried to match power with power. She'd try to do something sneaky. She really didn't like the way he chuckled at her. "Everyone has a weakness. There is no perfect person that is prepared for a fight 100% of the time. I wouldn't broadcast my intentions until that last minute anyway. Why does something I fear have to be someone stronger than me anyway? People stronger than me don't necessarily have a desire to harm me. Therefore, there is no reason to fear them.
She ringed her bell when he made the comment on him being stronger than her. She had no idea if he was lying or not, but knew that his pompous attitude was a weakness of his all ready. She watched as he made fire appear from his fingertips. Aalyshah took note of his ability and then said, "Fear isn't all ways about fearing those that are stronger than you. The world wouldn't have those protectors you see in the streets. I believe they are called cops and law enforcers here. There appear to be none at the Institute however...or at least none that are competent." With her response over, she continued her consumption of food.

Still gazing out the window as his breath fogs it up, a smirk grows upon Jonas’ face. Once the girl finished her speech Jonas spoke, “I believe that your downfall will be assuming so much.” He turned his focus to the rest of the cafeteria, noticing how many people were watching them. One glance from him made them turn back to their lunches. “The only real believable fact you stated was that everyone has a weakness”, Jonas stated as he glared at the girl with the smirk still upon his face, “A true superior being would train hard to make that weakness no longer be of importance.” He leaned back against the side of the windowsill, as if he was going to fall asleep. “Some have a false sense of power and once they’re put in a tough situation, they lose every bit of it.”
His arms moved behind his head to support it like a pillow, his smirk remained, and his eyes closed. Taking a deep yawn, the smirk finally faded from his face. It seemed like that perfect time to take a nap. Most people don’t like sleeping on stone but apparently this wasn’t an issue for Jonas.
(( Sorry for the short post but I was out of ideas. ))

((He can't read minds can he?))
As she ate, she heard the comment of her downfall will be assuming too much. She couldn't really understand how he could say those words after she was talking about everyone has a weakness. She wasn't an assuming person. She knew her weaknesses and knew when someone was stronger than her after she saw their power. She finished her food and then stated, "My downfall? Are you searching for it or something? I have many silly. What does this have to do with the conversation we are having? I stated more believable facts than that too. First, is the fact that everyone has a weakness. Second, is the fact that people stronger than me don't necessarily have a desire to harm others. Third, is the fact fear isn't all ways about fearing those that are stronger than you."
She heard him make the remark of a true superior being would train hard to make their weakness so strong it wasn't really a weakness anymore. She let out a small childish laughter at him and then taunted, "If I ever find that true superior being, I'll let him know you're trying." Before her comment was finished, she saw how the person she was talking to leaned back against the windowsill and then closed his eyes as if going to sleep. She finished eating her meal and then walked up to him to check if he was actually sleeping. She began to concentrate on his life energy. Her eyes opened up wide with a surprised look on her face. His life energy wasn't from this plane. She began to think of the plane she knew his life energy came from, but couldn't. She kept thinking of the different elemental planes that existed but didn't know where to put him in. Eventually she gave into her curiosity and leaned towards his cheek to kiss(life drain) him.
