Gender: Female
Date of Birth: 20 August
Current Age: 53
Western Zodiac: Leo
Place of Birth: Békéscsaba, Hungary
Nationality: Hungarian
APPEARANCE DETAILS
Appearance:
Ilona is a short woman, standing at only 5'1". However, she's neither skinny, nor fat. The only thing can be said about her body is that she's angular.
Her face, on the other hand, is rounded. Starting from the bottom, her chin and jaw are pulled back to the point that, when her mouth is relaxed, her upper teeth rest on the lower lip. Both of her lips are full, but slightly drier than they were in Ilona's youth. Her nose is crooked a bit and it's lowest part is wide. Ilona's eyes are rather small and dark brown irises are barely visible next to the ever-wide pupils used to darker rooms.
Ilona's whole head is framed with once-upon-a-time brown hair. Now, her bob cut is mostly gray and reaches just under her chin. Though it's mostly left hanging loosely, from time to time Ilona makes short ponytail, while the hair that falls out is held by bobby pins.
Clothing Style:
Ilona's summer clothing style is... unusual. Unlike most women in her age, Ilona kept to her wide, colorful dresses. However, she wears these only when it's warm. The dresses either have short or no sleeves at all and fall down to under her knees. On her feet she either has flats or sandals.
The woman has no taste for winter clothes. In colder days, Ilona's style consists of dark-colored woolen skirts and flashy colorful sweaters. Her feet are protected by two pairs of socks and fluffy green boots.
Special Accessories:
÷ Age took away Ilona's clear sight. Now, the woman wears big, rounded glasses with very thick glass.
÷ Ilona's summer clothing necessarily involves something for hair, whether it's a flower or a hairpin.
÷ In winter, the woman wears green scarfs... anywhere she goes.
÷ Another thing that is ever present is Ilona's collection of papers she uses for sketching whenever she has nothing 'smarter' to do.
PERSONALLY
Over-all Personality:
Ilona is one free-spirited granny who believes that whole world is just a masterpiece. This woman is ready to help anyone to sharpen up their skills and enjoys seeing young people put their imagination into work while creating small pieces of art.
Ilona, as an optimist, seeks for the best in people, believing that even the person who seems as if they have no qualities has something good to be proud of. Her enormous optimism often makes this granny seem naive.
She's open to all people and their ideas as long as no one is talking bad about other people, especially if they have a gift. As gifts, Ilona doesn't only consider the unusual abilities many students here have, but things like talents, too.
About talking... Ilona encourages talking on her classes. She, herself, talks a lot, too, but the granny knows when to stop talking, too.
Likes:
+ Cuddly things
+ Young people
+ Creativity in people
+ Being accepted as an equal by her students
+ Chocolate
+ Sea, which she didn't see before she was asked to teach in T'zenshin Institute.
Dislikes:
- Being called anything in terms of 'grandmother'
- Title 'Mrs'
- Close-minded and arrogant people
- People who make her feel ancient
- Things too simple to draw
- Musicals
Fears:
÷ Ilona is afraid that her non-gifted grandchildren might not accept the gifted ones and might even try to fight them.
÷ She fears possibility of humanity forgetting about art.
÷ Her greatest fear is that, if non-gifted folks find out about gifted people, world might fall into war.
Habits:
×Ilona constantly carries bunch of papers with drawings, sketches and other paintings on papers with her. Those are made by both her and her students.
×Whenever she's talking with someone, Ilona takes off the glasses and cleans them with her shirt or dress several times.
×Before she starts drawing, Ilona chews on the pencil for few minutes.
×When she has nothing to do, this granny sits next to the ocean and watches the waves.
×Her every class begins with the same words: "Everything around us is art. You may not notice it now, in such young age, but watch carefully and you will see one day that talent and creativity is needed for everything you do."
×As a person born and grown in Hungary, Ilona has no feeling for grammatical usage of 'he', 'she' and 'it'. It's not rare that she refers to a boy as if it's a girl, or talking about item (such as pencil) and saying 'he'.
Sense of Humor:
Ilona doesn't laugh at jokes unless she really can't control the laughter. Instead, when someone tells a joke, she takes the chance to praise that person. Sometimes, she even seems funnier than a joke itself.
The jokes Ilona praises the most are about people present, as long as they are not offensive. Also, she enjoys jokes about famous persons, but her absolute favorites are about cops and 'international' jokes based on superstition.
Goals:
¤ reaching 100 years
¤ making at least one famous artist from her students
¤ convincing her family to come to T'zen Island
SCHOOL/OCCUPATION

Subject:
- She's been Art teacher ever since she finished schooling. Even now, in T'zenshin Institute she's teaching art classes.

BACKGROUND
History:
Ilona was the fifth child in the family that lived in a village near Békéscsaba. All of her siblings except for the oldest brother were gifted with powers. Almost all the people in the village had such powers. The one that didn't were only the oldest children of their family. Considering this, it seemed very weird that Ilona didn't show any signs of having powers. She even seemed unable to do anything more than paint, write, play music and sing, although, she excelled only with the drawing and painting.
Once Ilona's parents decided to take her to the theater in Békéscsaba. With her present, it seemed that actors played even better than usually, music seemed to sound more like magic and dancers danced more beautifully. It was noticed by those who watched the same play more times and they started the rumor once they were outside. But that was not the time she found out about her gift.
Back in the village, the school was about to start. Unable to walk properly, Ilona was bound to her chair in the classroom. Soon, the other students started noticing how easier it was to concentrate when Ilona was present than at the times she missed the school in order to visit the doctor.
At the time, Ilona was only 7. Envious of the easiness with which other kids did simple things as walking, running and speaking clearly, Ilona started painting their movements, writing down their words and playing a flute to represent their speech. After some time she noticed the melody, the rhythm and the beauty of those simple actions... And that was when her belief of everything being art begin.
It didn't take long before Ilona started walking properly, even gracefully, and started speaking with such clarity that not even one single 'ummm' could be heard. However, that did not last long. Grasping the actions as something usual, Ilona lost the ability to do them...
At this point, Ilona was already 9. Once again she was taken by her parents to see the play and again whole crew worked with ease. This time the rumors of the sudden change in the crew's ability reached the ears of Ilona's parents. Combined with the rumors created by other students back in village, it was obvious what Ilona's gift was.
However, the play had different effect on the girl. It made her appreciate the movements and sounds as much as the art once again. And it was easy to walk once again.
Knowing how it looks like to be able to walk and then lose that ability, Ilona never again lost the appreciation of simple things. She finished the elementary school and then she went to Gyula Andrássy Secondary School and Boarding School in Békéscsaba. Finally, she entered University of Fine Arts in Budapest, specializing herself to become teacher one day.
It didn't take long before she started teaching in the secondary school she used to be the student of. There, in Békéscsaba, she got married to Lászlo Balázs with whom she had two children. When Lászlo, who never knew about gifted people, noticed that little Mónika has abilities, he didn't say anything. But then, when his only granddaughter showed her abilities for the first time, Lászlo decided that his family had to be medically checked. It was what made Ilona break up with him.
After the divorce, a fear of her grandson, Vilmos, not accepting his younger sister nestled in the old woman's bones. However, around the same time Ilona was offered place of Art teacher on some T'zen island. There she would be teacher of both gifted and non-gifted students. Her response was immediate...
So here she is for eight years now, teaching those kids about things some of them consider unnecessary for their future life.
Secrets:
÷ She's gifted, but one of her two gifts only makes her life harder, so she hides the fact that it exist. She claim that the power which effects others is her only gift.
÷ Before coming to T'zen Island, Ilona never saw the sea.
÷ While everyone thinks she's peaceful, Ilona likes watching action movies more than romantic ones.
Gift:
+ Ilona's presence helps other people do their work better. She is unable to control this. However, while she does help with one's concentration, she does not open up their mind for new ideas, nor she gives them any inspiration for the work they are yet to start.
- Ilona has to appreciate things as forms of art before she manage to do it. She can't do everything well, but without appreciating it as an art, Ilona cannot do it at all.
