Taking It Easy (Open)

"I have the most boring hobby ever." Jing mutters, and makes then a face because he just realizes that he's somehow developed a new habit of talking to himself.

He sat at the edge of the lakeside on a tree stump with an old fishing rod in his hands, patiently waiting for a fish to nibble at his bait. Fishing was what he and his father did back when they were still traveling. In attempt to relive some of his memories, he had taken it up as hobby, and has been coming back and forth to the lake every week to fish.

Today, in hopes that the saying, "the early bird catches the worm," wrung true, he skipped classes today to get an early crack at the fishes. Hey, it's not like you have to go to class everyday, right? Despite his efforts, he had only managed to catch two little fish, which were swimming in the bucket beside him.

After a few more minutes of blankly staring out at the lake waiting for a bite, Jing sticks his fishing rod to stand erect in the dirt, and stands up, on top of the tree stump. With a quick sweep of the area, and out of pure boredom, in the blink of an eye, Jing transforms into a female, Asami.

Asami stands on top of the tree stump, and stares as if entranced by the reflection of her slim, curvy figure in the water. Jing's clothes, a loose tank top and jean shorts, fit extra large on her, exposing a lot of cleavage.

Asami grins at her reflection, and adjusts the tank top, so less of her chest is showing. She speaks, and her voice is much higher and bubblier than Jing's. "I am the sexiest narcissist ever."

Aalyshah had been feeling down lately. She hadn't drained anythings life force in about a month and was feeling a little weak. She hated having to resort to animal life force, but she didn't have anyone at the institute that knew her well enough to try it yet. She found an excuse to skip class by going to the nurse's office. Her temperature was just right to get her an excused absence.

She walked toward the lake with a frown on her face and sat down next to the water. It was a bit cold out that day, but she was used to the winter weather by then and just wanted the warmer weather to come soon. She began to chew on her lip as she leaned back and looked up towards the sky. She began to think about why she came to the lake in the first place.

Asami hopped down from the tree stump when she sees a tugging on her fishing rod. She quickly grabs the fishing rod, and tries with all of her might to reel the fish in. It's strong! It's a real fighter! Asami gave one last tug with the old fishing rod until her catch broke the surface of the water.

...It's an old shoe. Asami scowled and tossed the boot back in the water.

Aalyshah was looking at the sky for some time before she began to drift off to sleep. The fresh air was just what she needed. Being stuck inside a building for too long without many friends wasn't going to be good for her health. Before she could drift off however, she heard a small splash of water from close by. She turned towards the sound and found ripples coming from the lake. She wondered who could be there too and got up to find the source of the noise.

After a little while of walking, Aalyshah saw a girl that was taller than her with a fishing rod in her hand. She saw an opportunity to make a friend, so she began to walk towards the dark-brown haired girl. She waved and said, "Um...hiyas. Eh...um...you know that school started a while ago right miss?"

She shivered as the wind blew and rang her bell around her neck. A faint smile appeared on her face as she got closer.

Asami saw the small, thin girl approach and assumed that she must be a underclassman because of her size and that Jing's never seen her in any of his classes. She cast back the line in the lake, still waiting for a good catch.

Asami looked back towards the younger girl when she greeted her. "Hello. Sure, I know, but I'm taking a break. You're not going to tell on me, are you?" Asami says and smiles.

Asami tilted her head at the sound of a bell chiming, and then spotted the bell around the girl's neck. How cute...

Aalyshah shook her head and then sat down next to girl. There was no reason to tell because then she'd have to explain why she was out of her room with a temperature higher than normal. She curled up her legs so her knees where close to here chest and then wrapped her arms around them. "I...hope you don't mind me sitting here next to you. I'm...taking a break too. The classes are a bit boring and I'm a bit in need of some nice air. Just a bit. My name is Aalyshah. Nice to meet you."

She looked into the water and could sense that there were some fish in it at least. Maybe she would be able to see the girl catch something. She looked at the taller girl's eyes with her milky-white unblinking ones. "Are you any good at fishing?"

"No, I don't mind. It was getting a little boring alone anyway." Asami looked away from the girl and back out at the lake. Should she introduce herself as Asami or Jing? Asami would certainly be less strange, and she wouldn't have to make any long explanations or examples. "..I'm Asami."

Asami looked back at the girl in time to meet her eyes. She stared for a moment and then blinked. She could feel something a little strange about the girl, but couldn't put her finger on what exactly... But hey, the whole institute is filled with weirdos. "I think I've got the basics down right, but I never catch enough for a whole meal! Stupid fish! Eat my bait already!"

Aalyshah was glad that the older looking girl didn't mind her presence. She wanted the company of someone else. She heard the girl's name and nodded. There was a moment when the two girl's eyes met and Aalyshah saw the dark eyes of Asami. They were close to black, but not really. She also took the moment to view the entirety of Asami's face.

When she saw Asami blink, she realized that she wasn't blinking at the moment and started to blink. She was blinking a little too much however, so she eventually stopped trying. Her smile disappeared and a look of calmness appeared on her face. "I've heard that you have to be quiet or you'll scare the fish. Throwing things into the water isn't very wise...if you want to actually catch them."

The little girl searched the water again for some fish and could sense them there. She pointed to a close by location next to some large rocks. "Why don't you try your luck over there?"

Asami noticed Aalyshah studying her face for a moment, and didn't think nothing of it until she remembered where she was. Curiously, she wondered if the girl had the ability to read minds? What if Aalyshah was reading her mind right now?!

Asami laughs loudly at the girl's logic. "That's exactly right! I guess that explains why I'm not catching anything."

She looks over to the place where Aalyshah pointed and shrugs. "Why? Do you just have a special feeling? Or are you a student who can speak telepathically with fish and such?"

Aalyshah jumped a little at how loudly Asami laughed. She wasn't used to sudden outbursts of loud noises. During her flinch, she let out a small 'ah' to her embarrassment. She regained her composure after many jingles of her bell sounded and then she listened to Asami's questions. She thought about how she should answer them.

She looked towards the area with the fish and said, "If I could speak telepathically with them...wouldn't I try to prevent their deaths. I'm sure I'd be able to hear their screams and torment upon their capture. I would try to prevent you from catching them. I'm not comfortable telling you too much...but I will say I sense them..."

She got up and began to walk to the area she told Asami to fish. She sat down on a rock and looked into the water. "I can see them too."

Asami smiles at the sound of the girl's flinch at her sudden laughter. She must be one of the quiet, plays-by-themselves type. The little bell only accentuated her type. She reminded Asami of a small, cute and quiet pet at the moment!

"That makes sense! Otherwise you would be like a mermaid or something like it." After a passing thought about how Aalyshah would look like with a big fin instead of legs, Asami reels in her line, and follows the small girl to said area. "Oh really? So is it that you can.. Sense body heat? Or just movement?"

Aalyshah didn't know what to think when Asami was talking about mermaids or something close to it. She thought it was a bit funny so she smiled a little before covering her mouth with one hand. When the smile faded, she removed her hand and said, "I sense the life of things...or at least the things close to me."

She looked at a fish in the water and then at Asami. She wondered if the fish would get caught or would it get away. She thought that Asami was quite loud.

Asami raised an eyebrow when the Aalyshah started to smile, and then covered her mouth as if to hide it.

"That's interesting.." Asami said and assumed the girl had a useful mental gift. She looked at the lake, at her fishing rod and then back at Aalyshah. "This fishing stuff has gotten really dull. You wanna go out with me to the mall for a cheeseburger? I'm starving."

Aalyshah really did think that fishing was really boring. She didn't like the long waiting time for a fish to bite on the bait and she didn't like the smell that came from fishing for a long time. When Asami asked if she wanted to go to the mall for a cheeseburger, that sounded like a good idea. She was done getting fresh air.

The bell on her neck sounded again as she got off of the rock she was on and stood up again. A frown appeared on her face as she said, "I...I don't have any money to buy a cheeseburger...but I'll come with you if you want. And...don't you want to take a shower first? You have been fishing."

The part that she didn't have money was a lie of course, but it still came out of her mouth as easily as the other words. Aalyshah looked at the fishing rod and added, "And what are you planning on doing with the fishing rod?"

Asami raises up her arms and then pulls up her tank top to sniff herself. "Really? Do I smell?" With a shrug, she walks back over to the tree stump where she originally sat, and throws the little fish that she caught earlier back into the water. Asami looks at her fishing rod and sighs. "I guess I'll have to sneak it back into my dorm then."

To keep up the pretense of Asami, she'd have to go into the girl's dormitory, instead of going directly to Jing's. How troublesome... But it would certainly look weird if it was Jing walking around with a little girl like Aalyshah. The girl looks only ten years old! "I guess it won't take too long."
