The Winter Dance

[Nicolette]

Nicolette hadn't even seen it coming. The lights went out and she jumped, letting out a tiny cry as the room was engulfed in darkness. People were screaming and the chaos began. She tried to call out for people to calm down, but her voice was drowned out by the confusion. She could feel hot tears of frustration slip down her cheeks.

She tried to move forward, only to run into a group of people who were trying to run by and she fell over, landing on the floor (though she caught her upper body with her hands). She bit her lip as she tried to feel around her surroundings. She couldn't see or imagine anything, so her power of telekenisis was a waste... but wait...

The girl slowly brought herself to her feet before holding out both hands. She bit her lip and shut her eyes, concentrating on her hands. Slowly, two orbs of fire began to form and she tried to concentrate on keeping their form and making them larger in order to give more light to the room. She needed to contain the fire, though, or it would cause the fire alarm to go off in the school (which was the last thing that they needed).

Once the light was bright enough for her to see, she noticed things were settling a little as people turned to investigate the new source of light. It was still very dim and hard to see, but people's sillhouetes came into view, so no one would run into each other, and the girl holding the fire could be seen. She knew she was showing her gift, which was the last thing she wanted to do, but the situation called for it.

"Please calm down." She called out, her voice raising so everyone could hear her as everything quieted down. "Nothing will be accomplished if everyone runs around screaming." She started walking, her steps slow and careful as she tried to keep her mind concentrated on the flames. She made her way across the gym until she came to the doors and then turned back.

"Those who are able to see, please lead students who are having trouble seeing. Unfortunately, we are unsure of the cause or how long the lights will be out, so we will have to end the dance early this evening. Cerfew to town is set for eleven, so you still have three and a half hours before you are required to be on campus and in the dormitories. I apologize for the inconvenience."

Brittany was cut short of answering as the room was suddenly plunged into darkness. Reaching into her purse, she pulled out her lighter and cell phone, flipping open the device and lighting the lighter for a moment as she tried to calm panicked students around her. It was bad enough that she had willingly walked into a gym crowded with students, but to have them in panic would be just too much.

She turned to see that the President had created a source of light and she turned to Kayami when the order was given to help get students out.

"Looks like you got your wish." She said with a chuckle. "Now come on and help me get these kiddos out of here."

The lights went out.

Haruka hadn't expected it to be pitch black. Once her cell phone light went off, she couldn't see a thing. She thought there had been at least a little natural light from outside that lit up the gymnasium... She hadn't entirely felt her fear earlier, when she had been on a special mission and using the lights of cell phones and lighters... And being with Rai certainly helped her forgot how dark is was down in the power room... But being surrounded in chaos and darkness, she could feel her heart pounding and paranoia rising.

She turned herself and latched herself to Rai's side, wrapping her arms around the arm closest to her and biting her lip as she buries her face in his neck, shaking a little. Of all times to forget she was afraid of the dark... She knew she was afraid of the dark! She had been so stupid to agree to something like this! But Kyerin had asked her so nicely and she just couldn't say no to him....

[Faye]

For a moment Faye could see, she was talking to her friend Alice happily, enjoying her night now that she had found someone to talk to. But now, the lights were out, everywhere, including out where they were now. "Aaah! Alice... What's going on?" Completely stupid question but she felt the need to ask, Alice seemed to know a lot about things... Faye listened to Nicolette's words and in the dim moonlight, Faye could see people coming towards the door. Oh god...

The whole room was now completely covered in a blanket of darkness, so she did her wish, but she didn't mean something like this, just something more exciting, like a band or karaoke... Something that was fun not something full of panic and disaster. She looked up to where she thought Nicolette was and she felt extremely bad for her, she would be the one to have to deal with all of this being the Student Council President and all...

Kayami nodded as Brittany suggested they round up some of the students and get them out of there. She followed behind her, getting students to follow closely behind her so they could get them out safely. No use in having them trip over others or other things.

Rai felt pleased, everything went according to plan, the lights were out, it was pitch black, no one could see a thing and the dance had been cancelled for the rest of the night. They had done a perfect job, Kyerin would be proud (not that he cared, he didn't like him that much). Something then wrapped around his arms, he looked down and noticed that it was Haruka, was she... afraid of the dark? A light smirk appeared on his lips but it disappeared once he realised how mean it would be to tease her about it. "Haru-chan, are you okay?" He asked in a light whisper, still speaking in their native language so no one could understand them. Unless another Japanese person was in the room, which was highly likely.

[Kyerin]

It didn't turn out one hundred percent as Kyerin planned; as the room was plunged into darkness, he could still feel the panic of everyone around him, and heard a few mental screams before he tuned them out. Also, as everyone was making the break for the doors as lit by the Student Council president (he either forgot or didn't remember that she could do such a thing... it helped quell the panic some earlier than he hoped), his seat was jostled a few times before he pushed out just one message from his mind to anyone nearby: back off. That gave him a bubble of breathing space.

However, unlike everyone else, the young man sat in his seat, waiting for everyone else to leave, not looking bothered in the slightest by the blackout. It probably wouldn't last too much longer... and besides, it got the point across: the SFF wasn't just sitting around, doing nothing this year. They were still out there, and they still had plans. All in all, this whole dance was a success, though he did wish there was something more he could have done. As for now, he would wait until almost everyone else was gone before making his own escape from the gymnasium.

[Alice Tudor]

Alice crossed her arms, grinning ever so slightly as she watched Kyerin. Back off, hmm? Her eyes glowed slightly, sending a message back to Kyrein. Her voice was cold, though only he could hear it. Oh, the joys of being a vampire! "Watch what you say to someone who can kill you, boy."[/i][/b]

She turned from spot, looking back to Faye who also seemed to be panicked at the moment. She placed her hand lightly on Faye's shoulder, her eyes having stopped from glowing and a smile on her lips now. "Faye, it's alright. The lights are just out, no need to worry. You shouldn't be so afraid of the dark. I promise nothing in the dark will hurt you."

[Nicolette]

Nicolette focused her energy to keep her fire going. She could feel the stress on her body from trying to keep the twin flames going, but she couldn't falter yet. She forced herself to keep her eyes open, making sure the students were evacuating from the gymnasium.

She knew who the culprit was. She wasn't sure how he was able to pull it off, but she knew exactly who the mastermind behind the plot was. She knew it was strictly business, considering that there were bound to still be SFF members who despised the Student Council... But she still couldn't help but feel a little betrayed...

Brittany and Kayami were soon outside with the group of students they had led out. The evening sky was clear and the shine of the moon gave a good amount of light, as well as the various lights of the school. It seemed only power to the gymnasium had been cut.

"I guess this is the Student Freedom Force's way of saying 'Hello' this year." She said with a small smile.

Haruka felt foolish, clinging to her partner the way she did. She could see the faint light that Nicolette gave off and she was slightly comforted, though she was hesitant to let go of Rai's arm. She merely leaned up, bringing her lips close to his ear/

"Let's get out of here..." She spoke softly in his ear, her voice shaky and uneven. She swallowed hard and moved back, looking up at him with desperate eyes. She had never given him that look before... Hell, she'd never let anyone see that look... But the dark...

It wanted to swallow her up...

[Kyerin]

Kyerin sighed a bit, knowing that with the Student Council president at the door, there would be no way to avoid leaving without passing her. She would know that he was involved with this, and though he had stated that this was nothing personal, she would probably feel betray. He could already detect that from where he was sitting, a combination of strain from her power, and worry from all of this. And there wasn't really anything he could say right now...

His thoughts were interrupted by a bright blinding light; apparently, the technicians must have found their device and deactivated it. The few remaining students in the gym instantly become more at ease, after squeaking and blinking a lot. Well, there was nothing left in here for him to see; time to head off to bed.

The young man finally rose from his chair, having sat there since pretty much the beginning of the dance, and walked to the door, placing his hands in his pockets. His movements placed him passed Nicolette, though he paused, a step pass her, almost as if he was going to say something. But her feelings were clear right now; there's nothing to really say at the moment. His resolve reaffirmed, the boy continued to leave, heading back to his dorm room, done for the day.
