It's a Date! {Dinner; Maven}

[Nicolette]

The sight was gorgeous and it stopped Matt in his place as they came upon it. He was speechless and he, again, nearly forgot how to breathe. Suddenly, the cigarette didn't matter anymore. He threw it to the ground on the sidewalk and pressed his shoe to it to put it out before picking it up and throwing it away in the closest trashcan to them.

He tugged on Sven's hand and pulled him to a place near the pond, sitting down in the grass and looking at the scene before them. The moonlight was beautiful and the fireflies made the scene even more magical. It was as if the world was telling him to tell Sven what was on his mind. His heart pounded hard and he took his hand from Sven in order to bring his knees to his chest and wrap his arms around his legs, resting his chin on his knees as he looked at the water.

His chest ached so bad... What if he told Sven and there was rejection? But his heart begged him to say something, anything...

"Ich denke, dass ich Sie liebe." He said softly, speaking in his native tongue. They were the exact words he wanted to say, but he was too scared to speak them in English.

[Faye]

Sven was amazed by the sight himself, he didn't plan this all to happen but he found out from a few sources that the fireflies came out at around this time of the night to preform their beautiful dances across the park, illuminating it and capturing everyone's attention as their eyes laid upon them. He felt himself being pulled along by Matthew, he willingly followed and sat down near the pond beside Matthew, his eyes locked on the reflection of the mood and all the dancing lights bouncing off it. It was so amazing, the night was just magical...

Something Matthew said confused Sven, it was spoken in German so of course he couldn't comprehend anything he just said. He glanced over at his boyfriend, "What does that mean...?" He asked, feeling a little left out since he didn't understand, almost like he did when Matthew spoke to his 'Radiance' friends on the phone a few days ago, when Matthew started to feel rather down and upset.

[Nicolette]

Matt could feel himself shaking and he blinked a few times, trying to keep himself from letting tears gather in his eyes. It would have been easier if he had worn his glasses, but he hadn't thought about it and now it was too late. He had already gone beyond the point of return, so he was doomed to see this situation until the end.

"I... I said...." He started, his voice shaking. He couldn't believe how scared and horrible depressed he felt. It was almost as if he could predict rejection. He swallowed hard and looked down at the grass in front of him, trying to focus his mind.

"There... is so much about you... that intrigues me. You... You're a mystery that I want to solve... I knew I liked you the minute I laid eyes on you when we first moved in... There's something about you... that reminds me so much of my past..." His head started to hurt, but he tried to forget the pain. He had something he needed to do. "I... I said... that...."

He shut his eyes tight, holding his legs close to his chest. He felt like he was going to fall apart.

"I said... I think that I love you..."

[Faye]

Sven felt his heart clench as Matthew started to nearly cry, he could see the tears well up in his eyes, the moon's reflection bounced off the shiny water droplets at the end of his eyes. Sven lifted his hand and brushed them gently away from his eyes, "You can tell me..." He said softly as Matthew seemed to have trouble saying what he wanted to say.

The rambling was an obvious stall but he knew he would be the same if it was something as important as he was making out to be but what was he say...ing..

He.. He what!?

No.. No no no... he couldn't! Sven fell backwards a little but his hand caught him just before he could fall over fully, his red eyes widened immensely and he just stared at Matthew. He said the L word, he said it and meant it. Why was this happening!? "Y-you... you can't... lo..." He couldn't even bring himself to say the god damned word. His voice was shaky."You can't..." He repeated in a whisper.

[Nicolette]

Matt could feel his heart clenching and he felt like it could shatter at any given moment. This man! He had such a power over him... Nickolaus was the only other person who had this hold over him... A tear slipped past Matt's contact and he bit his tongue, trying to focus on the matter at hand rather than the burning in his eye.

He turned and looked at Sven, his eyes desperate and pleading.

"What? I can't fall in love with you? Is it because I'm a boy? Well, Sven Carlisle, what if I told you I wasn't a boy?!"

Three...

Two...

One...

Matt's eyes suddenly widened and he could feel his whole world shatter around him. He seriously hadn't just said that... No... No, he couldn't have just said that! How the hell could he have been so foolish?! What the hell was this man doing to him?!?!

[Faye]

Sven scrambled to his feet and he took a few steps back, trying to think this through, there was so many emotions running through him. Luckily none of them would result in a sudden change in his appearance. He was panicking, he couldn't love Matthew back, ever, not ever, he couldn't... He swore he wouldn't do it but he wanted it so so much... He wanted to have the life that his father had, to be able to love and hold someone close to them, it was everything he ever dreamed of but he could never have it.

"It wouldn't matter if you were a boy or a girl, I can't-- wait what...? Y... you aren't... you aren't a boy..?" Sven's voice changed from shaky and panicky to curious and dumbfounded within a few seconds. What the hell...? Matthew was a boy! It wasn't like he had some magical ability to make him turn into a girl, right..? Or was he..

No... He wouldn't... lie would.. he?

[Nicolette]

Matt also got to his feet, taking a few steps back. He could feel more tears gathering and he suddenly hated himself. He clenched his fist, biting his lip hard to keep himself from crying. He was pathetic. He was an idiot.

He was Katherine...

"I.... I'm sorry, Sven..." Katherine's voice was shaky, but it held a slightly higher tone than Matt's. What was the point in keeping secrets anymore? It was already too far gone to save.

"We...we all have our secrets..." She took a few more steps back, but stood there, looking at the man in front of her. Would he even want a liar in his life...?

"I...I can understand... if you don't want me around..." That was a lie, but she didn't want him to suffer. "You're a Student Council member... You could get me switched into another room in the boys' dormitories or something... No one ever has to know..."

[Faye]

"I should..."

His eyes were wide and his whole body was shaking, first Matt-- whatever her name is told him they loved him and now he is actually a she what was going on with today!? It was absolutely perfect and wonderful all up until now. See! Love ruined everything! But he wanted it... he wanted to love her back, at the moment, whether or not she lied or not didn't matter... he fell in love with her personality not because she was a boy. So, he was bisexual... Interesting. "It's going against every moral fibre in my body but I'm not going to report it to the Student Council... I... I want you around," His voice was still shaky and he wanted to break down and let everything out. He had never wanted to do that before. The calm and collected Sven wanted to sit and cry his heart out.

"But... Ma--.." He stopped, he figured Matthew wasn't her real name. "I.. I can't.. love... I can't love you back..."

[Nicolette]

Katherine had let her eyes drop to the ground while she listened to the words Sven spoke. She quickly looked up at him when he said he still wanted her around and she clenched her fist tightly, trying to control herself, when he said he couldn't love her.

Was this what she was meant for? The first man she had fallen in love with abandoned her without so much as a word of 'goodbye'. And now, the second man couldn't even love her back... But in the end, now Sven knew something he shouldn't have and it was because she had to blurt out the stupidity.

She looked down at the ground again, letting her hands slide into her pocket. She pulled out her last cigarette and her lighter, shakily lighting up the stick and taking in a deep breath before slowly blowing out the smoke. Oh how she needed one of these.

"C... can we talk about this back at the dorm...?" She asked softly, unable to bring her eyes to meet his. She had hid this secret from him. She had ruined the connection between them, she was sure of it. She knew she shouldn't have said anything; It had been too soon....

She tried to ignore the pain in her chest as she took another drag of her cigarette.

[Faye]

Sven was having trouble concentrating, there was so much racing through his head that he felt dizzy. What if he turned into a cat and couldn't turn back? Matthew liked cats... right? Maybe it wouldn't be so bad... But he would always long to hold her close and everything, the 'curse' was unbreakable. His father was so lucky! Wait, he couldn't envy his father now... He would turn into a crow... He breathed as slowly as he could and nodded as she requested they spoke back at the dorm.

"Al-alright..." He said slowly as he walked beside her back to the dormitories. Why do bad things always happen...? Life was so complicated. He always wondered what it would be like to live it as a cat or a crow. It probably wouldn't last as long. There was a long, awkward silence between them as they were walking, Sven wanted to hold her hand but was unsure about it. He broke their silence, "Y.. You have to.. understand that it's not because... I don't want to love you..." He swallowed, hard, this was so frustrating, "It's because I actually can't.. Unless I want to be a cat for the rest of my life," There. Out in the god damned open.

[Nicolette]

The walk was silent for the longest time, or at least that's how it felt to her. She shook slightly as they walked side by side. She took a long drag of her cigarette, though as she blew it out, she let out a small cough; she couldn't breathe properly, she was shaking so bad. This was the worst thing that could happen. How could she have been so stupid as to just blurt her secret?! Everything that she had worked to keep up, and now she had blurted it out...

She glanced up at Sven as he spoke, her breath catching a little in her throat at his first comment. However, the second comment stopped her in her tracks and she held her arms limply at her side as she looked up at him, her eyes full of confusion. The pain in her chest was lightening a little, but she wasn't sure how to take the words he spoke.

"W...what do you mean...? Or... is that something we should save until we get back to the dorm...?"

[Faye]

Obviously now that he had brought up the other small part of his secret he was going to have reveal the rest. No use keeping secrets now, especially since it seemed... Matthew (he would continue to call her that or avoid her name until he found out what it really was) had given her biggest one on accident. He wished life could be easier... It was just so complicated.

"Yeah, I think I should save it until we get back to the dorm..." He replied, his voice trailing off as his mind flicked onto his family. He wondered how they were doing, he hadn't seen them since he started at the Institute. Just before he left, his mother had told him she had gotten pregnant with another child, so he would have a sibling that he knew nothing about it. He wondered if it was a baby sister... or a baby brother. For some reason he wanted a baby sister... She would be at least five or six years old by now. He mentally sighed and pulled himself back to where he was.

They were now at the lobby of the dormitories. He opened the door, "A..After you," He said softly, holding the door open. Yeah okay, she lied but it wasn't like she didn't have a good reason (he was about to find that out) and he hadn't been honest, either.

[Nicolette]

Katherine saw the T'zenshin borders approaching and her heart beat faster, harder. She didn't know what she was really going to say. Sure, she would have to tell him who she was, but would she really go into detail on everything? Would she tell him that she was the haunting voice that played on his music player whenever a Radiance song played?

Sven held the door open and she put her cigarette out near the trashcan outside the doors, throwing it away once it was completely out. She swallowed and walked into the lobby, unsure of what to expect next...
