Sanya carefully looked around the room, trying not to be distracted by the loud music and the bright lights as she kept her gaze down to study the people. This was the reason why she came here: to learn about different people, different lifestyles, different cultures, the great world out beyond where she grew up. She wanted to interact with people, to learn more about them... without them getting freaked out about her. Hopefully that wouldn't be too hard.
She noticed that an older girl leaving a table that left a younger boy all alone, and smiled, crossing over to take the vacant seat. "Hi there, mind if I sit here?" she said, sitting down, but still looking for the invitation. She could get up and leave if he was saving the seat for someone, or just didn't want her there. It was fine. She had noticed another guy, probably a bit older than her, looking a bit depressed at a table by himself... she would go chat with him next.

Nicolette had gone to speak with one of the other members of the Student Council; that was fine. He had finished speaking with her and decided to sit back and relax for a while. He had no homework to do and the dance would probably be more interesting than anything on television.
Henri De la Fontaine looked up when a dark-skinned female addressed him. He motioned to the chair she took a seat in. "There is no need to ask for permission." He spoke, offering a very small smile to the girl. He felt quite lame for the stupid words he had spoken, but he hoped she would let them slide.

The girl smiled, nodding happily at the boy. He did seem a bit shy, but that was fine, considering that he was letting her sit there. That was perfectly fine; just like there were a lot of different gifts here at this school, there were a lot of different kinds of people. People like her were outgoing and loud, and people like him were quiet and shy. It just took people like her to make people like him less reclusive and more open.
Sanya turned to watch the older girl walk away, noticing that she was very pretty... and also that she was that one girl who spoke the first day during the assembly. What was her name... she couldn't remember, but she did know that that girl was the Student Council president (kinda hard to forget that, even for someone like her). She turned back to the boy, a large smile on her face. "So, who's that? Your sister? Your classmate? Your roommate? Your girlfriend?" She put inflection on the last word, hoping to get some sort of reaction out of him.

Henri's cheeks flushed a pink color when the girl suggested that Nicolette was his girlfriend. That was weird to think about! He coughed a little and quickly replied.
"Ah, she's my sister... Nicolette."

Sanya was glad to get some sort of reaction out of the boy, smiling at his pink cheeks and quick reply; it didn't seem like he was so reclusive once he was opened up. But that could easily change if she stopped talking because then he would have no reason to be open. That meant that she couldn't stop chatting with him until he started up some conversation himself... fortunately, for her, that shouldn't be hard to do.
The girl launched into a barrage of questions and comments. "She's the president of the Student Council, isn't she? I was thinking about joining, but I wasn't sure if I could handle all of the work my first year here. What do you think? Should I join? Are you a member of the Student Council? Does she talk to you about it? Are you maybe a member of the SFF out of spite? How close are you two? It must be nice having a sibling." She stopped right there, still smiling, waiting for his response to all- or any- of the questions and open comments she had said.

Henri stared at the girl for a moment, blinking a few times at the amount of questions she seemed to be able to ask in one breath. Quite the talkative one, she was. Bringing a hand up to run through his hair a little, he thought of where to begin.
"Yes, she is the president of the Student Council. You could always become a respresentative for your grade level and see if you like it and join next year, if you find you like it. I am not in the Student Council. Nico really doesn't say much about the Student Council since this is her first year really working with it and we haven't gotten to talk much since school started. I am not a part of the Student Freedom Force. Nico and I are pretty close, despite spending much of our childhood separated."
He blinked for a moment before looking at the girl in the seat next to him. "Did I cover everything?"

Sanya listened to the boy, catching his accent and enjoying the sound of it. She couldn't place it though; she didn't really know what anyone else sounded like besides the people in her village growing up, and those she had to talk to coming here. It was a new experience of sound, many people speaking the same language, but all putting their own spin on it with their heritage and accents, including her. It was a fun place to be.
The girl smiled broadly at him and nodded, closing her eyes happily. "Yes, you did. Most people don't seem to get everything and just end up being confused. You're pretty smart to catch all of that." She giggled a bit before continuing on. "So, since we're suppose to meet people here, tell me about yourself, Mister brother of Nicolette. Or do you have a name? That would make things less awkward."
Before he could answer, she laughed again, shaking her head and laying it face down on the table for a moment. "Excuse my manners," she said, muted by the wood before she looked back up at him, looking straight into his eyes. "I'm Sanya Hadia; now it won't be as awkward, and you won't have to ask." Her right arm twitched slightly, as if she was going to bring it up to shake hands, but changed her mind; why would she do that?

The boy listened to the girl speak and tried to decipher her origin from it. He hadn't had too much experience with other countries, but he had watch enough television to know a good number of accents. Hers was familiar, but he couldn't quite place his finger on it.
He blinked for a moment at her introduction. "Ah... My name is Henri De la Fontaine...-Verity..." He paused before adding his mother's last name to his. Nicolette often left their mother's surname off their name, but he tried his best to keep it on. "Most people cannot say my last name properly... So if you must say it, just say 'Verity'..."

Sanya smiled at his name, though she didn't attempt to say it right then; it was definately French, though she wasn't sure about the Verity part. She definately wouldn't be able to say it... yet. Her English was pretty good, but not enough to really work with other langauges besides her native tongue mixed in with it. Still, she would definately have to work on it; it was best for her to be able to fully pronounce people's names.
The girl closed her eyes, tilting her head to the side. "It's nice to meet you formally, Henri," she said, her bangs swaying slightly with the motion, giving a partial glimpse of her forehead... and something else. She didn't seem to mind that someone could get this sort of view. "So, tell me more about yourself."

Henri glanced up at the girl across from him and paused for a moment. She wanted him to tell her about himself and he wasn't entirely sure what to tell. He didn't really have much to say. Not many people spoke of why they attended the school, so he wasn't really going to talk about his gift. She had already asked so much about his sister, so there wasn't much to say there.
Another reason he paused was his dark eyes caught sight of the odd marking on the girl's forehead, though he decided to not comment on it.
"Ah... I'm not entirely sure what to tell..."

Sanya sighed a bit, blowing up her bangs as she looked carefully at the boy across from her. What to say about himself? Well, she only knew two things about him: his name, and who his sister was. Oh, and that he went to this school... and had some sort of gift. Okay, fine, four things... but really, there was a large void of details involving two of those things that he could talk about... no need to be bashful.
"Well, Mister Henri De La Foontan Verity," she started, knowing that she wouldn't get the last name right, but just decided to roll with it, "what year are you? What sort of classes do you like? What do you do in your free time? Where are you from? Are you here with a special girl to dance with?" She paused, then added, to be politically correct, "Are you here with a special guy to dance with?"

Henri grimaced a little at the butchering of his last name, though he kept quiet to keep from offending her, even if he felt quite offended... There was a reason he had told her to just forget about his French last name. At times, he would curse his father's last name, wondering why he just didn't take his mother's last name...
How horrible of him to think...
He swallowed hard as he listened to the various questions she asked. He coughed and flushed a little when she asked if he was here with a girl, and his eyes widened when she asked if he was here with a guy, but he coughed again and thought over his answers before speaking.
"I am in seventh grade." He began. "My favorite class here at T'zenshin is my music class. I play the piano and write music in my free time. I was born in London, England, but I've been going between London and Paris, France, for the past few years. And I am not here with anyone but myself."
Not many more words could be exchanged between the two as the room was suddenly engulfed in darkness. The boy blinked a few times to try to focus his eyes and soon, a light attracted his attention. He saw his sister revealing one of her powers and frowned a little, but knew she was doing it for a reason.
He brought his hands in front of him and concentrated hard until he was able to form his own ball of fire. It was small, but if offered enough light for him to see the floor and the other person at his table.
"Shall we be going, Miss Hadia?"

Sanya politely folded her hands, placing them in her lap as she listened to the answers to her questions, storing the information into a mental file labeled "Henri". He seemed like a nice boy, only a couple of years younger than her... she really needed to get to know more people, and he made person number two... how interesting that she seemed to get in contact with musicians. It was as if fate was filling in what she couldn't do, since her fingers were not really set for delicately handling an instrument.
She couldn't help smiling, clapping her hands lightly together. "Wow, that's amazing! I really would like to hear you play sometime... and visit London too... and Paris... So many things..." The girl glanced around her chair, looking for something to make a list on her arm so she wouldn't forget this to-do wish list... maybe a pen... or a knife.
However, the blackout distracted Sanya, causing her to squeak in surprise and fear. She didn't like the dark; she couldn't see well in it, and everyone else panicking made it hard to hear anything. The first set of light, she didn't notice, though the fireball that was made in front of her did catch her attention, causing her to look at Henri, who was looking at her. She blushed in embarrassment of her panic, and nodded, rising from her chair. "We probably should be going. Thank you, Mr. Fontaen." It was still slightly off, but it was less butchered than before, a noticable difference.

Henri could feel himself twitch slightly at the sound of his last name being butchered. Not only that, but she had cut his last name in half, too. It was DE LA Fontaine... Not just Fontaine. But he had to concentrate on keeping his flame up. He wasn't as strong as his sister and he could already see was starting to strain under the pressure of her own power.
The blonde haired boy led Sanya toward the main exit, where people seemed to be filing out of. He figured he'd get her outside and then start off to his dormitory. He wasn't quite in the mood to be out much longer...
He glanced over his shoulder to make sure the odd girl was still following him and he continued to walk. Soon, the doors were close and he used his shoulder to hold one open as someone in front of him walked out. He could feel sweat slip down his cheek from the strain of keeping his flame up and he let it go out. Looking back over his shoulder, he looked beyond his companion toward his sister, who was still holding her flame bright.
She was so strong...

Sanya carefully made her way past Henri outside, making sure not to run into anyone; she didn't like people touching her, and to be honest, she wasn't much for touching people either. And with everyone panicking and running around, it was pretty hard to do so... but most of the mob had already left by the time they started moving, so it was not as bad as it could have been, being shoved shoulder to shoulder to get through.
When they had reached the outside, the girl took in a deep breath, glad to not be in that stuffy room with everyone else, including those party crashers, whoever they were. Who did they think they were? Everyone was just having a good time, either dancing or chatting with each other... why ruin that? She didn't get to talk to Henri more because of it!
Speaking of which, she noticed him looking back at his sister, his fire already gone while hers was still burning. Sanya sighed a bit, before reaching over and lightly tapping him on the shoulder, smiling at him before bowing. "Thank you for leading me out!" Maybe that would help his self esteem a bit.
