Before her disguise, Kat was a very attractive young girl. She stood at about five foot five and had a slim waist, curved hips, and creamy-pale skin. She did a lot of dieting to keep her figure right, as an idol always needed to look good. Her chest was lacking a bit, only a B-cup, but it wasn’t something that bothered her too much; padded bras were easy to get a hold of. Her hair easily fell to her hips and was light brunette in color. Her bangs fell over her forehead just above her eyes and there were sections of her hair that framed her face that fell just above the breast (and were often left to frame her face when she wore the rest of her hair back with a various colored large ribbon). Her eyes were green and she wore green contacts in order to see (as her vision wasn’t the best).

Anima
At first, it was used to distinguish the difference between Katherine and Anima, but it soon just led to become a style she enjoyed wearing while on the stage. Anima wore her brunette hair up in two curled pigtails and wore dark make up on her lips and around her eyes, as that was the style of Gothic Lolita (the style she used as Anima). Otherwise, she looked quite similar to Kat.

After the incident and her escape from Germany, Kat took on a new alias in order to protect herself from the ones who thirsted for her blood. Wearing a special chest binder (sort of a tank top that binds down the breasts) and forcing herself to take on the habits of a male, she cut her hair to the point that it fell unevenly around her shoulders. Her bangs spanned over her forehead and often fell into her eyes. The color was also altered, dyed black (and she frequently re-dyes it when her roots begin to become too visible). Her contacts have been changed to brown. She does have a bit of a feminine look, but there are quite a number of feminine guys in the world, so there isn’t much to worry about. With the vocal training she has received over the years of her youth, she changes her voice to accommodate her new look.

Katherine’s style of clothing rested with anything in fashion. She loved wearing and modeling new looks. Often times, she could be seen walking with Nick, wearing a cute t-shirt of tank top and a pair of mini shorts or a mini skirt. She didn’t mind showing off her body, especially with how much work she put in to get to look the way she did. She loved to wear large bows in her hair, often ones that would match the clothes she was wearing. Her feet usually were covered with cute sneakers or a pair of flip flops. What outfit wouldn’t be complete without accessories? Kat loved to wear dangling earrings (though she didn’t like them to be too long). Gummi-bracelets were usually worn around her wrists and if she was wearing flip flops, she would sport an ankle bracelet. She was never seen without her small, silver heart necklace that she received from Nick after their first concert. Whether it was tucked underneath her shirt or worn openly with a cute dress, she always wore it.
Anima
Anima’s style of dress, as mentioned before, was Gothic Lolita. While her partner sported a tuxedo with a top hat and cane, she wore various Lolita dresses. There was one, though, that she wore to most of her events and concerts. It was a black, short sleeved dress that had frilly material around the collar. Around the neck was a lace that wrapped around and hooked in the back. Around the middle was a corset and the rest of the dress frilled out a bit until it came to rest at her knees. She would wear black panty-hose and ankle boots to complete the outfit. She would also occasionally wear gloves over her hands that had lace around the wrist.

Matt’s style of dress is plain and simple. Often, he can be found wearing dark colored t-shirts and baggy jeans with a wristband around the left wrist and a watch on the right wrist. His shoes are often dark sneakers. Sometimes he’ll wear lighter t-shirts under a dark, short sleeved button up (usually worn open).

Kat was the most outgoing of Radiance. She loved to meet fans, she loved to raom the streets of various cities they toured, and she loved to spend time with her friends. She was often seen with Nick as he was the more quiet type that protected Kat from making bad choices and she was the happy, spontaneous one who would open Nick up and give him more ‘flavor’, as she liked to put it.
Her stage name, Anima, is Latin for ‘soul, spirit’, which was what she was in the band. She was the spirit that keeps striving forth and keeping everything together. Her passion was her voice and she worked hard to push herself forward and be the best she could be. She always wanted to remain by Nick’s side and be his support, as he was hers.
Kat was a very passionate person as well as a hopeless romantic. She enjoyed curling up on the couch or in a car and reading silly, cliché romance novels. She loved seeing romantic movies and whenever she’d see a couple on the street, she would smile and sigh happily. She has only had one boyfriend, Nick, but they were always very subtle with her relationship. Kat was always happy with just holding his hand when they were in public. Even in private, they weren’t out of control with their love. They kissed, sure, but nothing major and nothing much more (especially considering their youth). They were a simple couple, but enjoyed the way they were.
Being the most outgoing, Kat was also the most childish. She always had a happy smile on her face. She also did a lot of things without thinking, which was why she often had Nick around, to keep her out of trouble. But as childish as she was, she almost never cried. She found it was pointless to cry over small matters and she kept a positive outlook on everything.
Matt
Being forced to grow up put a lot of strain on Kat as she had to escape Germany after the death of Nick. When her parents sent her to America to stay with her grandparents, she took on a new alias with the help of her aunt and uncle. Becoming Matt, her mental state changed as well. After watching Nick die, she was quite traumatized and had to go through therapy to try and heal herself.
Matt was different from Kat. He kept to himself and didn’t like the company of others as much as Kat did. He enjoyed sitting alone in a room, writing letters to his old friends and reading various pieces of literature. He also picked up the bad habit of smoking when he’d steal his uncle’s packs occasionally. It calmed his mind whenever he became stressed out.
Because Matt is still biologically female, he still does have a bit of femininity to him, though it’s not as noticeable since many men can be feminine. He still holds a soft spot for cats and he does care a bit about his appearance.

BACKGROUND
History:
Katherine Serenity Friedrich was born in Madgeburg, Germany, in the year 1994 to an American singer, Emily, and German actor, Benjamin. The two met while Emily was on a tour around the world and kept in contact for many years before finally meeting again, getting together, and getting married. They moved to Benjamin’s home town and that’s where Katherine was born.
Katherine was born into music and acting. At the age of five, her mother began her daughter’s vocal training. It was around this time that Emily started advertising out that she would teach children to sing. Of the students she received, one of them was Nickolaus Prinz, who Katherine became fast friends with. They learned to sing together and Emily saw they both had the potential to become something great in their future.
She, of course, was right.
At the age of eleven, Katherine met an aspiring group of teen musicians while with her mother at a concert she was holding. The teens loved Emily’s music and they wanted so badly to become famous like her. Katherine, being the friendly person she was, introduced them to her mother after the concert and it was revealed to them that Katherine could sing. They told Emily of how they were in need of vocalists for their band that they wanted to make and Emily was more than happy to have Katherine join. At first, Katherine was the only vocalist of Radiance. At this point in time, they didn’t quite have their codenames and they were still just a garage band.
One day while working on some music, Nick gave Katherine some good tips to help her along the way and she asked if he would come with her to one of her rehearsals. He came and the others really liked him. Nick was asked to join and he did, of course. Radiance was well on the way to becoming popular. It was Nick who suggested they use aliases. Katherine became Anima and Nick became Zane, the others also taking on unique aliases that they found they liked.
They started off as a pop-band playing in the local park and they were soon discovered. When Katherine was twelve, they released their first CD and soon after, they had their first real concert on stage. After this concert, Nick took Katherine aside and gave her a necklace that he had gotten a few days prior. Katherine loved it and happily accepted it, telling him she’d always wear it.
They soon became popular over Germany and began to tour when Katherine was thirteen. Katherine loved the attention she got from being on stage and she was quite the happy girl. She became even happier when Nick finally told her that he had liked her for quite some time and asked her to be his girlfriend. She accepted and after then, whenever they were seen together off stage, they were always joined at the hand. That had been quite a good year for Katherine.
However, not everything can have a happy ending. When Katherine was fourteen, Radiance began receiving letters from an odd stalker, saying how much they loved Radiance and telling of the weird shrines they had. They especially had a large liking toward Katherine. Katherine wasn’t too excited about this, especially after a letter that said how the person had seen her frequently shopping at various stores. From then on, Katherine was never seen without Nick by her side.
The letters soon got worse, turning threatening and saying if they didn’t get to see Katherine, they would come to her home. She started staying at Nick’s more often when that happened, but the letter still came with the fan mail. More letters threatening they’d hunt her down if they didn’t get to see her. Radiance thought it was stupid that a fan was so intent on seeing Katherine. However, they took the threats more seriously when, at a concert, there was murder and a letter came afterward, saying to not make him have to kill another person.
At this point, Katherine had been considering quitting her career, finding it too scary, but Nick convinced her to stay with her passion and strive on. She kept going and the letters stopped coming for a while… But that was only leading up until the horrible, fateful day.
Radiance had been touring around Germany and they were staying at a hotel in Berlin. One night, Katherine and Nick were spending a quiet evening in the living room, talking about what their future was going to be like. They’d been together for over a year. However, their conversation was cut short when there was the sound of glass shattering in the next room. They both jumped a little and turned their attention to the next room, just as the door flew open and a figure ran in.
The figure wore a cloak and growled as he faced the two. He pointed at Katherine, saying that he had been waiting to see her for such a long time. Katherine screamed as the figure walked toward her… It was the stalker. Nick stood in front of her and yelled for the man to leave. Unfortunately, the man took a knife from his cloak and stabbed Nick in the stomach. Katherine screamed even more, tears spilling as Nick was stabbed multiple times.
The other members of the band arrived and the man fled before they could catch him. As Nick lie dying in Katherine’s arms, he smiled at her and told her he loved her so much and he was happy he could die protecting her. He told her to leave Germany so she could stay safe. He died before paramedics could get there… The incident left Katherine mentally scarred and the tour was cancelled.
Katherine’s parents had the same idea that Nick did. The decided to send her to live with Emily’s parents, brother, and sister in the United States in New York City, New York. Before she left, Radiance came to Katherine one last time and gave her a special cell phone that had all their names, phone numbers, and addresses so she could keep in contact with them. Emily went with her daughter over to the USA (taking her belongings with them) and once she was settled in the new environment, they sent her to a therapist. Emily’s sister, Hillary, recommended they work with a hypnotist to repress her memories of the incident and such. Emily was hesitant at first, but after seeing how broken her daughter was, she decided it was for the best.
Katherine went to a special therapist and went through many sessions. In the end, her later memories of Nick were locked away deep in her subconscious where she couldn’t reach them. She still remembers her promise to always wear the necklace, though, which she definitely always does. In her mind, she doesn’t know that he’s dead, but she knows that he’s been away and hasn’t had a chance to contact family and friends. She accepts this, but does wonder where he’s been and when she’ll hear from him again. She also remembers the stalker, though she cannot recall too many details.
Emily went back to Germany and it was up to Hillary and Nathan to change up Katherine in order to protect her. They decided it would be best to completely change Katherine into a new person; a male. It took two years in order for Katherine to become a male mentally. During this time, Hillary also had Katherine take special birth control pills in order to control her periods to arrive only four times a year.
Katherine Serenity Friedrich became Matthew Spencer Fletcher.
Matthew was different from Katherine in many ways. He enjoyed being alone and grew the habit of smoking. Katherine was still alive within the form of Matt, of course, as Matthew was merely a persona, but Matthew was what Katherine had become after everything was said and done.
Matthew had been attending school regularly through his transformation and was a very believable male as he had transferred schools once to see if people believed in the disguise. Hillary had finally come upon a school on an island known as T’zen Island and decided it would be a nice place for Matthew to go to school.
A new beginning was something he needed. So his stuff was packed up and he is now an eleventh year at The T’zenshin Institute. Things are different and new, but he will learn to adapt to the new surroundings as time goes on. He continues to write letters to his friends and keep in contact with them and continue to wonder why Nick hasn’t contacted him yet…
Secrets:
Matt is actually a female named Katherine, and Katherine was one of the lead singers of a pop-idol group Radiance, with her partner, Zane. However, Zane was killed and the one who killed him is after Katherine, which is why she took on the persona of Matt.
Radiance was a German pop-idol group that consisted of two lead singers, a lead guitarist, a back-up guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboard player. They devoted their lives to music at a young age (Kat was only eleven when she became part of the band, though she was singing throughout her youth, as her mother was a vocal trainer) and were going to make it big playing their pop, punk, and rock music. However, after the incident that left their lead-male dead, Katherine left the band and escaped to America in order to throw the murderer off her tracks. However, the group still keeps in contact. Anima was the lead-female, Zane was their lead-male, Fritz was their lead-guitarist, Nymph was their back-up guitarist, Slant was their bassist, Tai was their drummer, and Kai was on the keyboard. The whereabouts of Nick/Zane’s murderer are currently unknown.
