The classroom was well-lit and smelled of incense. Bahiyaa Asalah was sitting on a mat on the ground with her legs crossed in meditation. Her classroom was one that had no chairs, desks, or anything else that would get in the way of moving around. It was all most empty of things except for the magical gifts she had received from previous students on a shelf close to one corner of the room and the mats on the ground for students to sit on. The walls of her classroom were painted yellow and the floor was a hard-wood floor. There were a few windows in the room that one could see the clock tower from and other campus places. It was very cloudy outside.
The teacher took a deep breath and exhaled as she waited for her students to enter the classroom. Some had powers that even made her feel uneasy, while others had some that she didn't even find a use for. She mentally went over what she was going to teach for the day. She had been trying to learn the names and faces for the previous days she had been with the students, but she had forgotten quite a few of them as the weekend passed. She heard sounds from a few students entering the classroom and motioned for them to take a seat on a mat.
Bahiyaa opened her eyes and viewed the students in the room. They were students she recognized from the previous year. They were pretty good at controlling their powers. The students that could control their power at will usually helped the people whom could not. Bahiyaa didn't like working with all her students at once, so she made a system of older kids helping the newer ones. As a teacher she taught the kids techniques of mental control over their power, ways to expand their mental potential, and ways to defend their mind from some other mental powers. She stood up from her mat when most of the students were in the room and walked toward the door to look in the hall for the time and any straggling students.

As the teacher slipped out, a boy slipped in, taking a deep breath in the hallway before coming into the bright classroom. The extra clean air outside helped reduce the impact of the incense that hung in the air thickly. A few of the younger students were coughing from the change of air, but it took a while to get used to. Once you were settled, the incense did help... if there wasn't too much, and it didn't just hang there in the air.
He sat down on a mat, letting out a slow breath, and pushing his glasses up his nose, his eyes closed now. He took in a few slow breaths, in and out, to get used to the heavier atmosphere, and to also help clear his mind of worries. The SFF, a lack of any strong members, the Student Council, Nicolette, the coming school year, his seperation once again from Ayla... he let those thoughts drift away, and his mind to wander slightly, though not out of his head and into anyone else's. He was just relaxing some and waiting for the teacher to come back and start class.

Since the previous Mental Gifts class teacher had moved on from teaching at T'zenshin Institute (some believe she died while others believe she simply got bored, though no one is sure which of the thousands of rumors is true), the girl had become slightly disappointed with the class. Two of Nicolette De la Fontaine's powers required special items in order for her to properly train herself...
However, the room had been empty of everything but various little presents that the teacher had received over the past few years. Her ability to move things with her mind required actual things to move and looking around the room, she found that the only things that would be movable would be people and she was sure that they would very much be unhappy if she were to do that. Her ability of pyrokenisis required something for her to burn.. And again, she was sure her classmates wouldn't appreciate her setting them on fire. Her ability to create a force field required something to be physically coming at her and she would need to test her reaction time and to see if she could actually make it come forth. And finally, her ability to make others believe she was invisible required a partner...
The smell of insence burned her nose and she brought her hand up to cover her nose a mouth, her multicolored eyes watering up as she tried to breath in what little fresh air was in her hand. Another thing she had become not-so-fond of... But it wasn't her choice what the instructor of the mental gifts class did.
She cringed a little behind the shield of her hand when she saw the various mats out. Meditation? While Nicolette did see it could be of some use to some students, meditation wasn't something that would quite benefit her power. However, it wasn't her choice what they learned.. She had no room to complain. She just had to bear with it.
She moved over to a mat and she sat down on her knees (as sitting cross legged in a skirt would feel a bit awkward) and brought her hands together in front of her. With a deep breath, she cleared her mind of everything and began her meditation.

(I'm fairly sure that is mystical power... ) Bahiyaa Asalah waited a while before she determined that there would be no more students coming to class. It was pretty much filled up anyway. She walked into the room and closed the door behind her. If someone was going to come, they would have to make their presence noticeable somehow. She noticed some students were struggling getting used to the air. A small smile appeared on her face as she thought about how everyone had to get used to the incense at first. She glanced around the room briefly as she viewed the students that showed up today. There weren't many students coughing, but there were enough for Bahiyaa to say something about it. "Okay gang. Today we're going to focus on people that depend on concentration and will power for their gifts to work. I know that some of you guys don't like meditation, but I'm pretty sure that a focused mind can help everyone with a mental gift. If not...then maybe you don't have a mental gift at all. So...I guess for now, I'll begin with an explanation of meditation for those not used to it." She walked to her mat and began to stretch a little before she sat down on her knees with her hands on her lap. She noticed that most people sat down with a cross-legged position. She was most comfortable in the one she was in however. She began to talk about meditating. "First of all everyone needs to get into a sitting position in which they are most comfortable in. From there, take a few deep breaths in and out and eventually settle back into your normal breathing patterns while concentrating on just one thing you'd like to focus on. If you manage to think of just that one thing, you succeed, if not then you don't. I'd like the people who normally have trouble controlling their powers to think about controlling their powers. The incense should help you."

It was quite convenient that Kyerin, along with some of the other senior students, had already taken up spots for meditation on top of the mats, considering that's what the teacher had asked of them, though it was of the meditation that he didn't prefer, considering that it needed more control. Meditation was commonly used for two things: either to clear one's thoughts as to detect everything around them, to become one with their enviroment, or to clear the mind to focus intently on one thing. The eleventh year prefered the second, considering that his gift allowed him to connect further with the minds around him, but it wasn't controlled then, since it could wander.
He inhaled the incense slightly, managing to avoid choking on it this time, and exhaled it slowly, feeling his power and reeling it in, keeping it contained. It didn't really help him much to explore the limits, since it involved connecting to other people, but it would be in poor taste to disobey the teacher. Besides, he hadn't perfected keeping it inside when his mind was wandering; he should only use it when he wanted to, and only then.

Nicolette continued to focus on her meditation, though she soon began to grow tired of it. She wanted to work with her power. She was to the point that she could move things with her mind without the use of her hands, and she was able to control how her fire worked... But she still needed to work on making herself invisible in the mind of others and creating a forcefield. She wondered if she could speak with the physical gifts teacher about helping her work with her forcefield, mainly because she needed a physical (or magical) item or power to come at her.
She cracked a multi-colored eye open and took a look around the room. She spotted Kyerin near by and couldn't help but let a tiny smile come to her lips. She considered him a nice acquaintance and she enjoyed his company the past weekend at the book store. So what if he was the leader of the Student Freedom Force? They could be friends, right...?
