"I work with three types of telekenisis and light pyrokenisis." Nicolette responded. "I can show you exactly what I mean sometime soon, whether it be in school or not." She sat back and brought her coffee to her lips, taking another long sip before setting it down.
"I could even demonstrate at this moment..." She said softly. She looked down at the table for a moment at an empty sugar packet. She blinked once and it suddenly began to levitate. She looked over at the trash can nearby and the packet moved to the trash can within two seconds before dropping inside. She turned her attention back to Kyerin. "That is one type of telekenisis."

Kyerin was a bit surprised when the girl glanced down at the sugar packet before the piece of trash began floating, going over to the trash can and throwing itself away... well, to anyone who didn't know that the girl had psychic powers and had just done that. He didn't think she had telekinesis... well, now that he thought about it, he wasn't sure what he thought she had, but for some reason, telekinesis took him off guard for a moment.
The young man nodded, lifting his cup and taking a larger drink this time, mainly due to the decreased heat of the beverage, and the decreased feeling in his tongue due to that first sip. "That seems really handy to have," he replied, not quite sure what else to say; he was still a bit shocked, and he was curious as to what the other two kinds of telekenisis she had.

Nicolette smiled as she took another sip of her drink. He seemed to be taken quite off guard by her demonstration. She was unsure why he was so surprised, but it gave her a slight thrill to know that he was taken by surprise by her ability. She set the cup back down and looked curiously at him, her multicolored eyes widening just slightly.
"May I ask about your own ability, Monsieur?"

Kyerin sighed mentally when he realized that he could have just checked her mind after he asked; of course, now that she was on a different topic, he couldn't pick it up. He was just getting some curious thoughts about him: her trying to remember back to their classes and what he was doing during them.
"Mainly telepathy, if I was to sum it up," he replied, taking another sip from his drink. "Unfocused, I can tell how many people are nearby, and how they are feeling. If I concentrate, I can pick up some thoughts of a person, and implant them, though that's a lot more difficult. You'd be surprised how much people don't like different ideas in their heads." He couldn't help smiling a bit, waving one hand. "Just to let you know, I don't do it all the time, and considering that you have mental abilities, you'd be able to tell if I tried anything like that."

Nicolette's eyes widened a little more when she heard of his abilities. They were quite unique and very surprising. She also felt a slight bit of fear run through her at the thought of him being able to possibly pick up on her thoughts. However, she hid the fear quickly as she remembered that he could sense the emotion.
"Quite impressive." She responded, bringing her coffee to her mouth so she could think of something to say. She took a long drink before setting it down, deciding on something to say. "It is amazing the kind of power that people can hold within them... It is even more surprising at the number of gifted people in the world and how a majority of them come to our very school."

Kyerin managed to keep his hand from shaking slightly as he took another drink from the cup; it was always a bit disconcerting whenever he told someone, considering that, no matter how much they were expecting it or didn't mind, there was always that flash of fear when they realized what he could do. He wouldn't do that; he couldn't dig that deep, and he didn't really want to know what people were thinking that much to focus and do it a lot. It was weird that people were more afraid of someone being able to read their mind than someone who could set things on fire at will.
At her other comment, the boy nodded, placing the cup on the table before replying. "I didn't realize that there was such a wide variety of abilities, but I think that they come here because it's so open about being different from regular people. It's a very nice being different from public schools."

Nicolette nodded at his last comment and she brought her coffee up. She finished off the last of it before setting it down in front of her and folding her hands on her lap to keep them from fidgeting while she thought of another topic of conversation to keep them occupied while he finished the rest of his drink.
However, nothing came to mind, so she took a glance around the area, hoping something would spark an idea of something to say. She noted how empty the place was. Had students already done their shopping? Or were they procrasinating? She looked at the bags at her feet and found her purse in the mess, pulling it up to her lap. She opened it up and reached in to take hold of her cell phone. It was a phone that slid open to reveal a full thumb-keyboard, though it could be used like a normal phone when it was slid shut. She pressed a button to check the time.
It was around four-thirty in the afternoon. She didn't have much to do, so she didn't quite mind the time. She just wanted to know. She slipped it back in the purse, but kept the bag on her lap as she looked back up. She felt slightly embarrassed, still unsure of what to say. Her cheeks turned a soft pink color as she looked down at the table.

Kyerin waited for a moment for the girl to say something else, but she was quiet, her mind wandering as she looked around the store, and then at her phone. A quick glance mentally told him that she had no idea what to talk about, and that her mind was thinking about other things. He wasn't quite sure what to say either, leading to this awkward silence. She seemed like she needed to go though.
"Sooo...." He scratched the back of his head, staring down at his drink, his gaze sliding across the table to the girl sitting across from him, forcing him to put up a small smile. "How's the weather treating you? Enjoy the cold?" He was such a terrible conversationalist; he hoped that she wasn't offended at his terrible topic. It was definately not his forte, something that not even mind reading could solve.

Nicolette couldn't help but smile at the stupidness of his question, but she was thankful that he started a conversation. She felt so stupid that she wasn't able to think of anything to begin with, so the conversation he started up was welcomed.
"I do not do very well in the cold... However, it is better than it being too hot. In the winter, you can just put on more clothing for warmth wheras in the summer, you can only take off so much before it become inappropriate..." She felt embarrassed for saying the last part, but she tried not to let it show.

It was an obviously stupid question, but fortunately, she agreed with the topic and went on with it. It was a bit embarrassing that neither of them could come up with a better topic than the weather, considering that both of them seemed to be quite intelligent. Still, it was better than the awkward silence, and he knew that both of them had felt off from it.
The young man nodded in reply, taking another drink before adding his two cents in. "Well, I've never really been too hot to the point that it got uncomfortable. Clothes have never really been a problem. So, I mainly have a problem with the cold. It gets quite a bit colder here than at home, so I'm definately not used to it."

The girl saw her chance to question where he was from when he mentioned the weather difference. "Where are you from, if you do not mind me asking?" She questioned curiously, her eyes holding curiosity in them as she held her hands tighter together to keep them from moving involuntarily.

Kyerin smiled, and nodded, tempted to take another drink, but left it there, considering that when the drink was done, they would have to go their seperate ways. He was enjoying her conversation, despite how they were on opposite sides.
"Well, I was born and raised in Kyoto. And... that's pretty much it, actually. The geography of my life is limited and boring. It's either been home in Japan, or being here for school for the past few years." He laughed a bit, and then folded his hands, leaning forward a bit towards her. "How about you? You speak French... but for some reason, it doesn't sound entirely like a French accent."

Nicolette hadn't expected him to ask the question in return, though she should have seen it coming seeing as that's how it had worked before. One would ask a question and the other would ask it in return. She clenched her hands together tightly and smiled sadly as her eyes fell to the table.
"You are right. I do speak French, though my accent is quite different when I speak in English. I was born in London, England and moved to Paris, France when I was five. However, for the past nine years, I have been moving back and forth between the two cities, depending on which break we are in for school or who I was with last..." She moved her hand to shakily brush her bangs away from her eyes for a moment before dropping it back to her lap. "For you see, my parents are divorced. Mother lives in London with my doctor, and Father lives in Paris with Gabrielle."
She let out a sigh before her eyes widened a bit and brought a hand to her mouth, her cheeks warming up. "Oh, please do forgive me... I spoke too much..."

Kyerin noticed that her hand was shaking slightly when she spoke, which made him a bit worried about her. However, after hearing about her childhood, he nodded slightly. Divorce tended to make things difficult, but it was nice for her to live in two nice countries, and learn multiple languages and cultures. He was a bit envious for that, having grown up in a single area... not so much for the moving around so much, and the parents splitting up.
He smiled and gestured a brushing aside motion with his hand at her comment. "Oh, no, it's quite alright," he said, his eyes twinkling slightly with unspoken amusement, "I do enjoy learning more about you, even if it is about a rough childhood. It must be nice to grow up in two cultured places though... quite different from out here."
The boy took another sip of his hot cocoa before looking back at the girl, speaking softly. "If I am allowed to inquire, I guess Gabrielle is your stepmother? What kind of person is she?"

Nicolette was quiet for a while, staring down at the table for the moment. Her multi-colored eyes were half-closed in thought as memories of home in Paris washed over her. She hadn't been to her father's house since Summer Break. She had stayed at the school for Fall Break since her father and step-mother had been vacationing in Hawaii.
She finally brought herself to respond. "Gabrielle is a nice woman... She is the reason Henri was able to get so into the piano.. She introduced him to the world of music and it has been his passion ever since... She is a nice woman... I can just never bring myself to call her my mother as long as my own mother suffers the pain of living as a single mother and lawyer..."
She sighed and looked up at Kyerin. "I usually do not talk of such personal matters... I actually feel quite silly for opening up so much to someone I barely know..." She looked back down at the table again, her cheeks turning pink again.
