Haruka could tell that Rai didn't entirely understand the explanation he had been given, but it was alright. She could tell he wasn't entirely the brightest crayon in the box, but she didn't quite mind. He was really nice, so nice that he was even offering to share his lunch with her! She gave him a small, shy smile.
"A-ah, i-if you wouldn't mind sharing just a little bit... I don't often eat lunch since the cafeteria food isn't the most appetizing and I keep telling myself to go in to town to go food shopping, but it keeps slipping my mind... The only reason I haven't gone hungry is because my roommate is a nice space case who doesn't mind if I steal something every now and then."
She was surprised at how open she was being... But it wouldn't hurt to be a little open now and then. So long as she didn't say any deep, dark secrets, which she KNEW she wouldn't be doing any time soon. She wasn't THAT open.

He rose up from his seat and picked up the box of sushi he had brought with him today and moved over to where Haruka was sitting. He was now sitting beside her, but he couldn't see her laptop screen fully, but he didn't really care about what she was looking at or what she had on there. The wooden seat he was sitting on wasn't the most comfortable but it would do for the time being, they weren't going to spend all day sitting around in the SFF office... were they?
"Of course I don't mind, I have plenty of food.." He really did, his bag was made of mostly boxes of food he snacked on throughout the day. It was amazing he could fit all of it plus his school supplies all into the one back and still carry it around with ease. The school supply list this year was horrendous. "Oh? You have a roommate? Who?" She was kindly being open so he didn't feel too bad about asking questions such as these. Besides, he felt the need to know more about her.

When Rai sat down, setting the box between them, she stared at it for a moment, noting only one set of chopsticks. She wasn't a germaphobe, but she wasn't sure how he would feel if she used them. She decided to let the question distract her from taking food for the moment.
"Her name is Faye Clement. Tenth year. I don't entirely know too much about her since I keep to my room when I'm at the dorm." She shrugged.

"You can use the chopsticks, I don't mind" He had noticed her staring at the box and wondered why she hadn't taken any yet so he assumed it was about the chopsticks. He really didn't care if she used them, he preferred to use his fingers anyway.
Faye Clement... Hmm... Nope, didn't ring a bell at all. That was his first time hearing about the girl. If she was a tenth year it was a huge possibility that they were in the same Government class, however. Maybe he could keep an ear out for her name next time he was in there. Actually, he thought about perhaps sitting with Haruka when they next had Government.
"Hmm... Tell me a little more about yourself" He enjoyed talking about her. Although, he wouldn't complain if she wanted to know more about him.

Haruka offered a small smile when he said she could use the chopsticks. She took them delicately in her hand, spinning them around a little before she grabbed one of the sushi pieces, popping it into her mouth. It tasted so delicious. Most foreigners would know Japan for having sushi, but a lot of them wouldn't like it. It was almost one of those 'you-have-to-be-born-with-it' things.
From his expression, she could see that Rai didn't know her roommate, which was something she expected. Faye was a tenth year who spent a lot of time with their neighbor. She did find it odd that she spent a lot of time with the other girl, but it wasn't any of her business; for all she knew, they could be the best of friends from home or something.
The dark haired girl peeked up at the boy through her glasses as he asked her to tell him a little about herself. She looked up thoughtfully for a moment, popping another small piece of sushi in her mouth. She chewed it, savoring the taste, before finally swallowing and replying.
"I was born in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, Japan. I moved to Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, with my mother when I was six years old." She said, speaking a bit about her location in Japan since they had both lived in the country. "I like computers, math, drawing, and glow sticks." The glow sticks were rather random, yes... But if one looked around Haruka's bedroom when the lights were off, they could be found everywhere. "I believe pencils are evil because they can erase the mistakes people make... And diet soda is just wrong because it's not even soda at that point."
Haruka was...weird.

Rai watched her flawless handle the set of chopsticks and eat some of his sushi that he was willing to share. It was so nice to interact with her as she was from Japan as well and so they both knew Japanese (and they were conversing in it which made it even better). As he listened to her talk more about herself, he picked up a piece of the sushi and popped it into his mouth and chewed it slowly so he could savour the magnificent taste. Oh he loved crab~!
Glow sticks..? Evil pencils...? Rai blinked, she was a little different than he had expected but for some reason, he didn't mind. He liked it. "Wow... cool, I was actually born in Oxford, England and moved to Matsue, Japan when I was still little... I was never told why, haha," He decided she deserved a little information about him. So he continued, "I like sour lollies, fish, but not as a food... but I do like food... and I like the dark, too, I hate injections, I think I've developed a phobia of them..."

Neither of them really spoke of their families, which was fine by Haruka's standards. She wasn't going to share too much information on the subject. Of course, she could speak of her mother and grandparents, but she was afraid of anyone asking about her father... His death, that laboratory, her youth, the pain... It still haunted her to this very day.
She was correct in deducting that he wasn't completely Japanese. If she had to guess, then it would be to guess that he was half English, half Japanese. His likes were simple enough, though she couldn't help but shudder a bit when he said he liked the dark. What sane person would like the dark? He didn't like injections and she could relate on that subject... Injections reminded her too much of the various injections she had been given...
She shook her head slowly, trying to rid her mind of the memories. She could cry about it later, when she was alone in her room. For now, she would focus on the good company and yummy sushi. She popped a few more pieces in her mouth. She had been more hungry than she had thought.
"This is really good, Aikaryu-san." She commented, reverting to her previous, more calm and quiet attitude. She needed to control her stronger emotions inside... She needed to keep them locked away. No use in showing them to a stranger. She would be fine. She pushed her glasses up and offered a weak smile toward Rai as she complimented the food. "Thank you for being kind enough to share it with me."

Actually, Rai's life wasn't all that bad. Except for the minor traumatic things he heard and had to put up with. He resented the fact that he had this ability and really did wish it didn't exist within him or if he could give it to someone else so he could live normally. But, since he came to T'zenshin Institute and had taken a few mental gifts classes through the school things had started to calm down and he could even sit in peace sometimes (Again, minus the whisperings here and there from students walking passed his dorm)
He took two more pieces and placed them into his mouth (not all at once of course). He had cut up quite a few pieces this morning but there was now only one piece left. Wow, he really did eat a lot, but Haruka had also helped. He didn't mind, though, he really enjoyed having her company, it was a nice change. He hadn't made many close friends since he got to the school. Sure he knew a lot of people but he didn't converse with them that often. He hoped to change that with Haruka.
"Aah, you're welcome, Haru-chan," He replied, smiling at her brightly. "You can have the last one," He continued, pointing down at the sushi. Although just as he finished his sentence the bell that signalled the end of lunch rung. The noise was rather intense so it caused Rai to wince a little, his most hated parts of the day. "Looks like we have to head off to class.."

Haruka smiled as she took the last one and popped it into her mouth. At the sound of the bell, she swallowed the piece and frowned a little. She had gotten little work done, though she felt like it was worth it in the end. She turned back to her laptop and began to save and close files before she would disconnect the flashdrives and reattach them at the bottom of the lanyard around her neck. Once everything was connected, she folded the bottom of the computer up to create the part of the top of the suitcase and shut it up, locking it up before she picked her backpack up, slinging it on her back and taking the briefcase in her right hand.
"Seeing as we go to the same school, live on the same island, and are both part of the Student Freedom Force, I'm sure we will see more of each other. Plus, we do have Government and Physical Education together, so we're bound to see each other quite often." She offered him a small smile.
She walked to the door and pulled it open, waiting for Rai as she held the door open.

Rai gave Haruka small nod, they definitely would see each other more. He really was looking forward to seeing her again. He enjoyed the time they had spent together during the lunch hour. He waited until she had finished disconnecting everything off her laptop before rising from the wooden seat he had sat on. He stretched his arms and legs, letting a small yawn escape his lips. A smile slipped back onto his lips and he exited the office with Haruka. "See you round, Haru-chan~" He said, his voice sweet and soft.
