Lucas could feel something in his heart snap, she went through all that, and her parents, who treated him like family, were gone? Most of all, she didn't tell him anything.
Why didn't she tell him...?
His hands rested on her shoulders, his expression was heartbroken and sympathetic. And then, it dawned on him...
That's also why she couldn't talk.
"Oh, Lili...," he managed to choke out as he pulled her into a loving and gentle hug. She had gone through so much...she really needed it.

Tears began to fill Liliana's eyes again as Lucas grabbed her shoulders to make her look at him. That pained, anguished look in his eyes sent pain through her chest and she bit down on her lip, those tears spilling down her cheeks again as she flung herself forward at her best friend for so many years. How long it had been since she'd last been in his soft embrace.
She nuzzled his neck with her face, her lips mouthing his name again and again against the sensitive skin of his neck, her breath giving the sense of her whispering, though it was nothing more than her breathing and sniffling and mouthing unsaid words.
She wanted nothing more than to tell him how much she missed him and how lost and alone she'd felt when they'd been separated. She wanted to tell him how much he meant to her and how happy she was to see him again after so many years separated. But as those words made their way to her throat, they were caught and stopped. She could not tell him anything... And this, broke her heart even more than anything else.
She clung to him, sniffling as more tears spilled down her cheeks.
'Please... Speak to me, Luke... Say the things I can't say..' She begged in her mind, unable to bring those words to her lips.
