Phaedra looked at him and suddenly, her whole face lit up with a smile so vibrant, the room seemed to brighten. As soon as he said it, she felt it. She did, indeed feel more confident. It was because she suddenly realized that she wasn't constantly wondering about people and what people were doing and what they were thinking. In her moment of excitement, she squealed and then swung her arms around Jared's neck. "Thank you, thank you! I just noticed that I wasn't thinking about other people- and I didn't feel so nervous!"

Jared couldn't help blushing when she smiled and thre her arms around his neck. It had been...unexpected. And...She...she felt so warm...it..it reminded him of Fleur and he couldn't help but remember...that night...That night that stood out so clearly in his mind. It gave him the strange feeling in his chest.
He smiled and patted her head lightly. "Don't worry about it. I'm a teacher after all. I live to teach. I love to see good results. I am glad to have been of service. Is there anything else which you need my help with?"

Phaedra released him, her own cheeks enflamed by the rising blood in her face. "Sorry. I just breached personal boundaries. I know-..." She suddenly cut herself off and she looked away. She murmured in a distant voice, "...just like Jarren." And then, she returned to the present. She gazed at him with glinting silver optics and then gave a brilliant smile. "Well, you did help me sort of with my problem, but to understand it better...you'd have to see it. Really..." She gave an apologetic expression directed at him.

Jared only smiled and patted her cheeks, though his cheeks were still a light red. "No, no. It was perfectly fine. I don't mind. Any sign of appreciation is welcome. Plus, hugging is a perfectly nice way of showing it. If you wish, you can do it again." He was only slightly kidding and mostly serious.
He stroked his chin before sitting on his desk, sitting indian style on it. "Well then, why not show it to me?"

Phaedra laughed and it felt good; it was one of the rare times nowadays she showed any verbal jubilancy. "Professor....I-uh-can't thank you enough. I don't even know how to show you my appreciation properly....so juss let me know if there's anything I can do..." Phaedra locked eyes with him for a minute, a strange fierceness in her eyes. But then it vanished like dust in a windstorm. Then, she continued, "As for showing you my power, the one I came here for...I can't. It's...unpredictable. I don't even know when it's coming. i know that sometimes, extreme emotions, like envy, happiness, anger, lust, frustration, things like that may bring it on, but I have no real, firm idea. Just theories, Jared. I can't bring it about at will neither. So, I'm afraid you can't help me. Unless you were to watch me 24/7, because I have episodes about 4 times a day now, at the most random times.
"So, you see.... I can't exactly be helped. I don't think that even you could help me. I'm very....dangerous when I go into a fit. I, as Phaedra, cease to exist, replaced by some...monster. Oh, gosh! It's so friggin' hard to explain so that it's clear and understandable!" Once again, that strange, monster-like savageness came to her eyes. She banged her fist on a nearby desk, actually leaving an inch deep depression. Bringing her hand back up, she didn't even seem to notice the minor damage and then the beastliness was gone form her expression, replaced by the frustrated teen.

Jared gave a small teasing grin. "Weeeeeeeellllll" He pretended to give it some thought before shaking his head. "No. As a teacher, it's the least I can do to help a cute girl in distress." After all, what kind of teacher would he be if he asked for something from the students in exchange for teaching....Wouldn't that be illegal?
His eyes widened a bit at her obvious frustration at the inability to express herself in the way she wanted. He felt slightly disturbed at the sight of her fist coming down onto the desk, leaving a dent. He almost took a step back but decided against it and placed a hand over hers. "Miss. Phaedra, please calm down. I only suggested it so that I might further assist you. I did not mean to cause you any distress."

Phaedra looked from his hand to her hand. Which was really the same hand because his hand was on hers. Flushing a crimson that was just not normal, "I'll try to keep calm, Jared. I hardly ever lose my cool, but when I do...people get hurt. That's why I, above everyone else, have to remain calm. And I just lost my temper. I'm sorry, Professor." She wouldn't look at him for a moment and then she looked at his larger, paler hand covering her smaller, tan one. There was amusement in her voice and eyes as a small smile twisted onto her rose pink lips. "You call me cute, Jared?" Instant recall wasn't so instant. It took her a second to register what he had said prior to her temper explanation. Perhaps her new English teacher had a tendency to flirt. That would make things interesting in class.

Jared nodded, rolling up a bunch of ungraded tests and lightly whacking her head with it. "Fine, fine, but I thought I told you to call me Jared. I work hard to create a comfortable atmosphere. You'll ruin it with all of this formality and calling me "Professor". It dosen't make me seem the awesome and cool guy we both know I am." He flashed that devious and gentle smile again. He probably sounded so slef important and overly confident. But who cared? After all, wasn't it a good thing to be confident in yourself?
He smiled even wider and even more deviously. "And what if I did?"

Phaedra looked at him and leaned forward, her weight being put on her tiptoes because she was shorter than him. She reached his shoulders then. She was so close she could kiss him, but of course, she didn't. She only spoke softly, her silver eyes intense, "I would tell you that you would be way in over your head." Then, she flashed him a smile, came back down to her original height, and whirled around to walk back to a desk further away. "What what's this monologue I have to right a report on?"

Jared blushed ever so slightly, still smiling. He bent forward as she leaned toward him, them close enough to kiss. He grinned as she moved away, slightly intrigued by this girl. Hot in one moment and very cold in the other. A strange girl. If she weren't a student he would have been interested in going further than simple flirting. "My head is perfectly fine, young miss. I know boundaries."

Sitting on the desk part of the desk, she looked at him and displayed to him a cattish grin. "Monologue, Jared?" She plucked the textbook from the pile of two she'd put on her head earlier, crossed her tan legs and then proceeded to flip through the pages with a thoughtful look on her angled features. She looked for the Shakespeare section and her brow furrowed in thought. It'd been several years since she'd done a unit on Shakespeare. Those two years without high school had really messed things up for her. Thank goodness, she took all her advanced classes beforehand and was now just catching up on the normal classes. After a minute of flipping through the pages, she slipped of the desk, her skirt flipping up in the back as she did so and then it came back down as she walked towards Jared.
"It's been a while since I've read up on Shakespeare." She grimaced at the amount of time.

Jared tilted his head slightly to the side, curious and interested. "Really? Why is that so? You should have had to have read something by Shakespeare in the previous year or two. That's rather odd." Then again, she probably just forgot she had. You try and try to introduce kids to good literature and they just whine and call it boring. Children weren't worthy of literature. They could never appreciate it.

Phaedra looked at him, grimly facing his curious stare. And then she gave him the truth, "Well....I've not been in school for two years. This is the first time I've been on a campus is two solid years. I've been having to work and live, make money so that I could graduate. And my last caretaker had told me to come here. So...here I am." Remembering her old teacher, a tear came to her eye. The wound was still raw and festering just beneath her bright exterior. She swallowed the lump in her throat and then wiped the single tear away from her face. "So, what's the monologue?" She gave him a small smile, going back into her reclusive state of mind.
