The pink colour that rose to his cheeks only darkened to a reddish colour when Haruka began to giggle and laugh at him. He smiled nervously and unclutched his stomach to gingerly take the bag of chips. He peered inside the packet, she hadn't eaten many of them. He reached inside and took a few out which he placed into his mouth, not all at once of course. Only if he was alone would he do something as impolite as that...
He did have manners. At times.
"Thank you, Haru-chan," He smiled warmly to her. He felt like giving her a hug but something stopped him. Maybe it would be a little strange. Maybe.
The warm smile grew slightly as she came forth with a deal, he nodded in agreement "Sounds good," He liked how open and sociable Haruka was being around him, it was nice to spend some time with a friend like this. And grocery shopping was fun! When you did it with other people, that is. "Where abouts are we going to go for food?"

Haruka thought for a moment of locations of restaurants. There weren't many full-on restaurants, but they could always drop by a fast food joint for some food. She remembered liking the french fries and salad they had at the McDonald's, last time she had gone there.
"What's your opinion on McDonald's?" She asked him. She was sure he had been to one in Japan since they were pretty popular in Japan, just like in America.

Oooh~! Fast food... The best kind of food that there was. It was fast. Hah. Means he didn't have to wait ages and ages or pick something small and weird from some random cafe. Besides, cafes wouldn't be open at this time. "MCDonalds sounds good~!" He found it hard to contain his excitement about the food she was going to buy him. "You know you don't have to buy it... I can pay for my own..." He didn't want her to go out of her way for him.
He reached into his pocket to grab his wallet, which he opened up to make sure he had enough cash to get himself something that would satisfy his hunger. Just barely enough cash... he could always just use his card but cash seemed easier. He ate a few more of the chips from the bag he carried in his hand. His greyish blue eyes looking around the darkening island, it had been awhile since he walked down these streets with another person.

Haruka frowned a little when he suggested buying his own food. "But if you did that, then it wouldn't be very fair of me to drag you along shopping. A deal is a deal, Aikaryu-kun. Don't go breaking agreements."
Her small, half smile came to her lips as she turned her attention forward, walking down the darkened streets. She hadn't realized how late it had been getting, but it didn't matter too much. It was Friday and the store she went to for groceries was open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. She'd be fine with that.
They soon arrived at the McDonald's and they took a seat across from each other at a tall table that that stools rather than boring chairs. She leaned into the backrest that came up from the stool as she waited for her order to be called. She had ordered a simple salad and an order of small french fries along with a small soda. She would save her energy drink (which she had stored away in the bag she had gotten her drinks and chips with earlier) for later that night, if she was going to be kept up by her roommate.
Soon, the order was called and Haruka got up to retrieve it. It was both of their orders, but since the cups were empty, she was able to carry it easily. She set the tray on the table, between the two of them, and then took their two cups.
"What would you like to drink, Aikaryu-san?"

True. She had a point there. "Aaaah~ but I like grocery shopping..." Of course he did, it involved food. He enjoyed anything that involved food. "But fine, you do have a point, I did agree to that..." He said, giving in easily. He would still feel bad about it.
They had taken a seat opposite each other in the fast food restaurant, Rai was leaned forward resting his arms on the table in a folded position. He was gazing off at the menus they had lined up for the dinner specials and that. He had ordered the famous big mac combo, he really needed something filling if he wanted his stomach to shut up and stop embarrassing him. Although, he liked Haruka's laugh. It was cute. So was her smile.
Within a few minutes their food had turned up which was divided between the two of them. At the sight of Haruka's salad, he felt a little bad about the fatty meal he had ordered. But, he just figured she wasn't all that hungry... He turned to the lady that had brought their food over and smiled, "I'll just have a medium coke, please," He turned back to Haruka not realising the lady just stood there, giving him a queer look.
It took him a moment and a bit to realise she was still standing there and also figure out he had spoken in Japanese to her when she was clearly not Japanese at all. "Huh? Oh! Um sorry! I'll have a medium coke please!" He drooped his head in embarrassment.

Haruka turned to the woman and gave her an apologetic smile. "I apologize, Miss. We're from Japan and we often are quite forgetful that people don't speak our language here on T'zen Island." She explained, to which the woman merely shrugged and brought them their drinks.
Haruka walked back to the table with Rai and when they sat down, she repeated her apologetic smile. "It seems that I got you far too used to speaking in Japanese that we seem to forget that we're not in Japan. I apologize for that, Aikaryu-kun."

Aaah... Rai felt so embarrassed about that, his cheeks had flushed pink once again, it was bad enough when his stomach growled and now he was confusing people by speaking Japanese with them when they had no clue as to what he was saying. He needed to be more attentive to what he was saying. Like people older than him always said, think before you act. Which obviously tied in with speaking...
He sat back down and took a few of the french fries that came with his meal and placed them in his mouth, chewing and swallowing them slowly. "Seems so, I feel so embarrassed about that..." He really did. "You not hungry or something?" He said, poking at her pathetic little salad that they had given her. It was lovely and colourful but that would barely fill him up.

Haruka was a bit surprised that he had asked about her meager dinner. Sure, it was small... But she didn't need to be eating much more than that anyways. She brought her hand up to tuck some hair behind her ear as she brought her fork to her salad and moved it around before placing some of it in her mouth. She swallowed before responding.
"Eating isn't quite my forte... I sometimes even go about two days without having eaten anything. It simply is a luxery for if I have free time to do it. If not, then I don't. Plus..." Haruka brought her hand to her stomach, frowning a little before she continued to eat the salad. To other, she was thin. To herself, not so much. A bit anorexic? I think so.

Rai blinked. She went two days without eating before? Wow, he would surely die! Actually, he pretty much would die if went about half a day without eating something. Food was... like his love. Not intimately but yeah. "Wow... that's.. Kind of dangerous, isn't it?" He became slightly worried about her over this. But he didn't want to annoy her so he wouldn't shove protests down her throat or try to make her eat more, it was her choice. It wouldn't stop his worry, though.
He picked up a few more of the french fries and ate them. Within a few moments, half the box was gone. He looked down at them, feeling that embarrassed feeling again. They were quite the opposite in terms of food. He ate a truck load and she barely ate anything. Perfect.

Haruka shrugged as she took another bite of her salad. It was at a time like this that the differences between Haruka and Rai could be seen. Rai was open, forward, happy, hungry... Haruka was a bit shy, a little open, somewhat happy, and could care less whether she ate or not. She lived and breathed computers and manga. She considered food a hobby rather than something that was needed for life.
Maybe that's why she was so thin.
She took a few fries and ate them before washing them down with her soda. The cool, refreshing drink felt nice as it spilled down her throat. She set the cup down and looked up at the boy across from her.
She wasn't exactly sure on what subject to start up next, so she decided to leave it to the boy across from her, who seemed to be overflowing with ideas.

Rai slumped back in seat as he found that Haruka had fallen silent after his comment about it being dangerous. He really didn't want her to be offended or anything, he just wanted her to be safe... it was strange, really, but anyone he talked to like this he had a great care for. "I'm sorry, Haruka," He said, missing out the shortening of her name and the suffix.
She probably wasn't angry or annoyed at him, but he still couldn't help but feel bad about it. "I didn't mean to sound like I was getting all preachy about it..." He, personally, hated preachers and wanted to smack them all over, really. They butted into other people's business and want people to run their lives a certain way when anyone had their own choices.

"Aikaryu-kun, there is no reason you should be apologizing." Haruka said, raising her eyes and pushing up her glasses so she could look right at him. "Yes, what I do is dangerous... But I choose to continue to do it. I wouldn't have blamed you if you preached to me. At least someone would care." She spoke the last sentence very softly to herself, her grey eyes taking on a darker look as she took another fry. She ate it before taking her fork to attack her salad again.

By the time Haruka had finished explaining her silence and everything, Rai's fries box was empty and he was starting on the burger part of his meal. He took a normal sized bite for him, chewed, then swallowed. After a few more bites he set the burger back down on the table and smiled at Haruka. "I do care," He said simply. He knew that he wasn't going to be able to stop her from doing what she was doing, at least she ate something during the day and it was quite healthy.

Haruka took a long sip of her drink until there wasn't much left before she set it down. She brought her elbows to rest on the table and linked her fingers, placing her chin atop her fingers.
"I do believe that you care more than my mother." She boldly said. "Even a stranger would care more than my mother. Yes, of course she loves me and such... But her career is much more important to her. Since..." She paused and continued on a new path. "Her career is very valuable to her, even more so than raising her own daughter." She shrugged. "If it weren't for my grandparents, I probably wouldn't be here. They were the one who funded for me to come to The T'zenshin Institute. They also paid for my computer." She motioned to the briefcase at the bottom of her stool.
"I am in debt to them for quite some time until I can muster up the money to pay them back. I wouldn't dare ask my mother."
Haruka didn't have anything against her mother... But Tsukiko Amagi had always been very distant since the death of her husband. Yes, Haruka could understand that her mother felt pain... But she had a daughter she needed to take care of. Haruka had been lucky enough that her grandmother had cared enough to get her an English tutor and such. If it hadn't been for Yukari Amagi, Haruka might not have even attended The T'zenshin Institute.

Rai too also took a sip of his coke, just looking at it made that embarrassed feeling rush over him and his cheeks felt a little hot. He ignored this, however, and concentrated on Haruka. Which also meant he didn't continue eating, either. Quite a surprise.
The story was upsetting and very sad, it would of been tough for her to grow up without a mother to love and nourish her with everything she had. To protect her from everything but instead, Haruka was ignored and neglected in way. Rai reached his hand over the table but stopped, holding her hand as a sign of comfort would be strange at the moment. They were only friends...
"Must be hard..." He didn't know what else to say! He was speechless, he couldn't make any comparisons to his life since his parents were quite supportive of him and were a bit more loving than what Haruka had explained about hers.
